Beautiful garden I wanted to tell you that I have both types of lady of shallot and u definitely have the climber. Give it an arch and she will wrap around it and produce beautiful blooms :)
That makes sense they probably sent me the wrong one. Thanks for the advice, I’ll give it a try.
Beautiful!!!
Thank you!
Wonderful colors combination!
Thank you!
Gorgeous garden 🪴 💕🌸🌺🌿
Thank you!
Beautiful garden 😍 but the only problem was the sound
Thank you! Ugh, I’m trying to find a good quality mic, the one I have seems to be inconsistent. Thanks for letting me know.
Greetings from Ireland, Beautiful garden, Its the the bees knees.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful. How long does the supervena last for you?
Between 1-2 years. I had to pull my purple one out due to a mealy bug infestation. 🫤
Beautiful garden❤❤❤ are coleus perennial to Orlando?
Thank you! I would say yes, but they may die back depending if we get a freeze or not. We didn’t have a freeze this past winter so the coleus did very well. I usually save cuttings as back up.
I'm so impressed you hand water. That is a big commitment. I hand water also but my space is much smaller. What is your favorite David Austin climber? In terms of health. I have a slice of my yard that gets afternoon shade and my three DA roses seem to like it there even in this heat. The rest of my yard is rather unforgiving in the summer. Would like to find a DA climber for a wall in that section.
I only have 2 DA climbers so out of those two I would definitely pick James Galway over The Generous Gardener. They’re both in full sun all day but JG is healthier, the blooms last longer during our rainy season and it’s also more generous with it’s blooms especially if you bend the canes horizontally, it produces amazing laterals and lots of blooms. It does well in our heat but does get some black spot in the summer.
@@FloridaCottageGarden thank you!
@@HoustonKeith72 you’re welcome.
Do you have mosquito issues there? Any suggestions? We are in north Texas zone 8b, the mosquitoes are always bad but this year are horrible because we’ve had lots of rain. We are organic and have tons of bees and butterflies in our messy Texas cottage garden so don’t want to harm the the good insects, but cant even enjoy our garden because of the mosquitoes.
Ugh, the mosquitoes have been horrible this year as well. I’ve been using a natural bug spray for myself, the main ingredients are citronella and lemon grass. It’s called Badger Bug Spray, I’ve also been thinking of planting citronella and lemon grass around my patio area so I can go out in the evenings without getting devoured by mosquitoes.
hi from tampa! how often and for how long are you watering your flowers/plants? I water entirely by hand as well but am worried I'm doing it too often (daily at the moment and for about 10-15 minutes per area). planting instructions for roses are saying 1"-2" of water per week, but in this heat I'm wondering if that'll be enough...I don't want to overdo it either though. same question about hydrangeas - I've got my first oak leaf in the ground under a tree so it gets dappled sunlight, lots of shade, but by the end of the day it's wilting like crazy.
Hello fellow Floridian! 👋🏼 I take about 1.5-2 hours to water everything. I don’t have a set time per area but I try to water all in ground plants deep about 2-3 times per week. If you water constantly for a small amount of time the roots won’t grow deep and look for water and therefore they depend more on you for water. Now pots are a different story, they depend on us for almost everything especially during the dry season. For my roses that are in pots I water them until I see the water bubbling, kind of like when you boil water, that way they last usually 2 days without me having to water them. Anything in terracotta pots, newly planted plants or anything in smaller pots get watered everyday if they need it, sometimes twice but always check your soil to make sure they need to be watered. Almost forgot, I water my hydrangeas everyday, they’re water hogs.😄 Hydrangeas here prefer morning sun, mine gets about 2 hours of morning sun and then some dappled sun until noon and shade the rest of the day. Hope this helps!
Did your dahlias make it through last summer? I would love to have more
I’ve only had 1 survive our summer, most rot from all the rain. I’m e tried storing them but they tend to shrivel up. 🫤
While I’m thinking about this, and excuse me if I’ve already told you, but this summer, I made the trip up toPetals from the Past. It’s amail order, antique rose nursery, but they have an amazing nursery and amazing displays of the roses they grow. It’s in Jemison Alabama. I left here and went to Tallahassee and spent the night. The next morning I visited Tallahassee nurseries and Native nurseries of Tallahassee, then drove to Montgomery. I spent the whole next day at Petals from the Past. I’m going back in late August or September. It’s absolutely amazing.
@@cindyenglish3130I’ll have to keep this in mind, thanks for sharing!
Lovely garden. I lived in Orlando & Tampa many years. I know how hot it is. I'm very impressed with your gardens
Thank you so much! 🥰
