Nicko McBrain is the most ''alive'' drummer. I can't explain it, he just has that organic feel, like he's a human being, playing, having fun, that's what makes him so special.
Him singing along to himself drumming definitely brings a lot of liveliness to him, also he always looks happy and not like a robot sitting at his kit.
Nicko is SUCH an underrated drummer. I mean, the thing that makes him truly godly is the fact that, not only does he drum like a beast, but he actually has fun doing so. I mean, most other drummers have so much concentration on what they're doing that it doesn't look like they have any emotion to it. Nicko can go absolutely fucking crazy and still drum efficiently. UP THE IRONS!
All of his hits are crisp and clean, you can hear every single note. Every measure seems to have a unique and tasty fill while not overplaying. All while so relaxed and effortless, A true master .
Nicko is a machine with a soul. he runs a groove that gutarists can feel, and his fills are naturally anticipated. He makes playing the song so much easier for the guitarist.
I always come back to this video. Every time I see it I learn something new. This man simply rocks the hell out of a drum set. There are more technical, faster or 'virtuoso' drummers out there, but Nicko makes drumming look so fun, and so easy to learn and love. Excellent musician. Up the IRONS!
..and I know Nicko sets the path to many drummers to come. Why compare him with other drummers ..for he's a living legend from Maiden. Only the good die young. Legends live for ever. Thank you Nicko for your music legacy!
absolutely incredible. one of the best rock songs EVER, along with an AMAZING ALBUM. Top 5 of all time. I saw The Powerslave tour live in Binghamton NY, top 3 shows ever in my life....
This man inspired me to play drums. He was the first drummer that I heard as a kid that seemed to reall 'add' to the music. I know there are loads of other drummers that do it now, but back then it was a revelation. I dont listen to them anymore but this guys drumming is great.....infact, scratch that, I'm going to listen to them now!! The drumming on 'The Trooper' was a massive moment in my life learning the drums....
The way he works the pedal is unique, and that last walk-around, WOW! Best drummer in the world, there is nothing else to say here, he is simply the best in the world right now, nobody can touch him at this point....
Only person to come close is Neil Peart but they both drum with different styles in different genre's so it's hard to tell who's better. But Nicko is still fucking brilliant!
dsvet Mangini is a great technical drummer, but he hardly improvises, while Nicko always plays his parts differently ,for example, different fills, using hi-hat, when he normally uses the ride cymbal. It may seem to be nothing special, but it kind of shows the basic creativity. That's how to recognise a really good drummer.
I’ve been listening to Maiden since the early 80’s. Always liked Nicko’s drumming style of over Clive’s. He’s one those drummers that makes it sound so easy watching him and an absolutely flawless performance. There’s a many good drummer out there, but Nicko definitely has to be in the top 5. Rock on bro!!
that is definitely some of the most bloody tasteful metal drumming i've ever heard. groovy, great chops without overdoing it, supports when it's time to support, stands out when it's time to stand out.
UNO DE LOS MEJORES BATERISTAS DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS. MIEMBRO DE LA BANDA MAS GRANDE QUE EL METAL HAYA DADO. LARGA VIDA A NICKO MCBRAIN. LARGA VIDA A IRON MAIDEN.
Nicko! Saw them live last year and they still got it, always loved his drumming on The Prisoner and Where Eagles Dare..hopefully I can see them again soon.
definitely underrated drummer. even if people say he is not exceptionally talented his talent is to play at the age of 63 for heavy metal band at such speeds with a. single bass drums and doing triplets there are definitely more drummers older than him but being a heavy metal drummer at the age of 63 and still playing gallop rhythm songs like trooper is not a joke
Madhur Chari Who says he’s not exceptionally talented? He’s not by any means an “underrated” drummer. He’s praised by many, and is always placed in “top drummer lists” and rightfully so.
How talented would you have to be to be considered talented then, I wonder. The man's been drummer for one of the biggest bands in history for 37 years or some such - gotta be doing something right.
I saw them in Portland, OR on 6 September... his set was phenomenal! You heard his triple beats on his single bass! He uses a special pedal that allows him to do that! Yeah, he's awesome!
Iron Maiden is this team of superhuman musicians that may not be my favorite. But anytime I hear any Maiden, I just feel like bowing. They are the true gods of Metal. Plus this riff give me an image of this gigantic eagle flying through sky.
Larger than life, and simply an amazing drummer! If you ever needed a reason to climb behind a kit and play...here it is. As for the pedal, unless Nicko made a change, it's usually an old Ludwig Speed King that he's played for years.
After seeing a Maiden show in Nashville in 2013 I bumped into Nicko on the street in front of a club where some other band members were hanging out at,, my favorite drummer of all time,, my inspiration standing in front of me,, I asked him for an autograph,, he said no,, then asked for a picture with him, he said no,, I followed Maiden for years since 1989, even joined the fan club always hoping for such an opportunity only to be told no,, what a way to treat a devoted fan,,, perhaps if he only knew the distances I went to to attend shows in many different states,, the money's I spent to help support them,, all the t-shirts I bought,,, I was so disappointed that I burned all my t-shirts and ticket stubs that I collected over the years,, and yes I haven't attended a show since nor have I purchased any new albums,, your fans should be important to you Nicko,, not disrespected and treated like dirt,, I was even fighting cancer at the time which made it even worst cause it makes me feel alienated and rejected from normal society, then this happened,,, to this day it still burns me,, all I wanted was to be treated equally like I've seen other fans that were fortunate enough to meet him in person that was treated with kindness and a smile,, sorry I have to hit the thumbs down,, but I'm sure he dont care he has plenty of other fans
Your unbelievably lucky man. I could only dream of Nicko playing on my kit with me and showing me some good techniques. Phenomenal drummer. Wish I knew him too.
My buddy said he saw Nicko as the drummer for the Pat Travers band back in the mid 70s. He's definitely made a name for himself in the industry, style, still a single bass drum pedal user, own signature series, drums, cymbals, sticks. Business man.
Nicko McBrain is the most ''alive'' drummer. I can't explain it, he just has that organic feel, like he's a human being, playing, having fun, that's what makes him so special.
He most definitely has the feel. Realness to him.
You're right. And don't forget Tommy Aldridge from Whitesnake.
I think a part of it is due to his hihats work, usually doesn't play it completely open or closed for whole sections? If that makes sense
Him singing along to himself drumming definitely brings a lot of liveliness to him, also he always looks happy and not like a robot sitting at his kit.
Nicko!!! Nagyon nehéz úgy dobolni, hogy nem hallja a zenét. Tökéletesen ritmusban van. A Mester!😢❤
He's the reason I saved up lawn-mowing money to buy a drum kit…. and am still playing 24 years later….
Derek Diedricksen you are the reason i couldnt buy a drum kit i paid you to do my lawn.
lol
That’s awesome dude. Rock on 🤘🏼
Absolutely! Thirty eight years here. Metal heads rock a like. Up the irons.
That’s an epic story! I hope you keep playing till the end of time.
Nicko is one of the worlds most underrated drummers, yet he still has a great following!
He was born for it, to be one of the best drummers in the world
Damn right
Absolutely
Do not exaggerate.
My first drum hero since childhood...I admire many drummers but he remains that drum god for me. He never stops amaze me.
Nicko is SUCH an underrated drummer. I mean, the thing that makes him truly godly is the fact that, not only does he drum like a beast, but he actually has fun doing so. I mean, most other drummers have so much concentration on what they're doing that it doesn't look like they have any emotion to it.

Nicko is one of the reasons for me to pick up drumming. Thanx for the years of inspiration!!
Nicko. Never saw a Drummer like You!!! Amazing❤️❤️❤️

Man those fills so clean .. !! The single pedal grooves , flams , the sound of the Tom's.. oh I love this .. !! I love Nicko
my first Iron Maiden gig was Piece of Mind Tour I remember the opening Where Eagles Dare, we were just blown away, Nick is an amazing drummer,
Makes it look so effortless, just an amazing drummer with such an original style and perfect technique thats why he still drums like a badass at 60.
a true rock drum legend... Nicko McBrain
..and I know Nicko sets the path to many drummers to come. Why compare him with other drummers ..for he's a living legend from Maiden. Only the good die young. Legends live for ever. Thank you Nicko for your music legacy!
In my opinion Nicko is the most talented drummer alive.
absolutely incredible. one of the best rock songs EVER, along with an AMAZING ALBUM. Top 5 of all time. I saw The Powerslave tour live in Binghamton NY, top 3 shows ever in my life....

This song is the reason I love Maiden and drumming. Nicko's beast
Such a blessing to finally be able to see him play
This guy is a beast, he has a foot like John Bonham , one of my favorite drummer's 🤘🤘
O meu eterno favorito e referência NIKO MACBRIAN ❤️
The way he works the pedal is unique, and that last walk-around, WOW! Best drummer in the world, there is nothing else to say here, he is simply the best in the world right now, nobody can touch him at this point....
Only person to come close is Neil Peart but they both drum with different styles in different genre's so it's hard to tell who's better. But Nicko is still fucking brilliant!
Mike Mangini, Terry Bozzio, Morgan Agren just to name a few.
You gonna have nightmares about this?
dsvet Mangini is a great technical drummer, but he hardly improvises, while Nicko always plays his parts differently ,for example, different fills, using hi-hat, when he normally uses the ride cymbal. That is SO true! ;)

that is definitely some of the most bloody tasteful metal drumming i've ever heard. groovy, great chops without overdoing it, supports when it's time to support, stands out when it's time to stand out.
Arguably the most fluid drummer ever. He makes it look effortless.
UNO DE LOS MEJORES BATERISTAS DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS. MIEMBRO DE LA BANDA MAS GRANDE QUE EL METAL HAYA DADO. LARGA VIDA A NICKO MCBRAIN. LARGA VIDA A IRON MAIDEN.
WoW... 63 years old Drummer...Nicko McBrain!!!
Grandioso! Nico! Ho avuto la gioia di suonare a tempi passati di suonarlo!
That's always pleasure to watch Nicko's style. It seems he so happy doing it.
Very powerful and energetic performance, what a good drummer Nicko is
10 years older than Lars Ulrich.
"Nicko is fantastic drummer.....Dios te bendiga.
That kit is bloody sick those Paiste cymbals sound awesome
Great drummer. So much detail and intricacies without sounding like he's over-playing. That's what makes him a legend.
2:22 ! Incredible kick work! I love Nicko's use of the ride cymbal...a real signature of his playing.
I always play the trooper with that part for the entire song...to me it fits better
very passionate player, he always seem to enjoy every single hit he does on his drumkit
It´s what i love the most about him !
He has a perfect feel for the live version he's playing, although he's not playing live. Shows the ability and experience.
Nicko! Saw them live last year and they still got it, always loved his drumming on The Prisoner and Where Eagles Dare..hopefully I can see them again soon.

I saw them in Portland, OR on 6 September... his set was phenomenal! You heard his triple beats on his single bass! He uses a special pedal that allows him to do that! Yeah, he's awesome!
The people that say he's not exceptionally talented are either deaf or haven't listened to Somewhere in Time
Bestia....absoluta....en su oficio.......el más grande título para este baterista.....
Iron Maiden is this team of superhuman musicians that may not be my favorite. But anytime I hear any Maiden, I just feel like bowing. They are the true gods of Metal. Plus this riff give me an image of this gigantic eagle flying through sky.
That ride cymbal sounds amazing!
His playing is clean, consistence. precise. Just great
He ends the fills in perfect time, that's why he's professional and one of my favs
All about the song, Nicko always puts his distinct signature on all the Maiden songs.
05.06.2020. Happy birthday Nicko. Hail from Croatia.
Larger than life, and simply an amazing drummer! If you ever needed a reason to climb behind a kit and play...here it is. As for the pedal, unless Nicko made a change, it's usually an old Ludwig Speed King that he's played for years.

Unpopular opinion: Drummers are so underrated they do 35% of work
The most underrated drummer! The master of fills!!
If you're not familiar with it, check out his pre-maiden work on Pat Travers " putting it straight " album. Great drumming on a killer sounding kit !

That's cool
WHAAAAAT????!!!! Lucky b*tch.
My buddy said he saw Nicko as the drummer for the Pat Travers band back in the mid 70s. He's definitely made a name for himself in the industry, style, still a single bass drum pedal user, own signature series, drums, cymbals, sticks. Business man.
He is among the greatest Metal drummers, not to say THE greatest...
Danny carey, Dave Lombardo, Mike Potorney and Nico McBrain
What a legend.
EL MEJOR BATERÍSTA DEL MUNDO 😢😢😢
He's still playing at this tempo at 70!!! Damn, I hope I'm this good!
It's beyond me why no one mentions him in the best of lists???? He is a legend who has been doing it for 40 + years.
That kick drum sounds amazing!
Yeah! its so tight.. so lovely
Pra mim o melhor baterista do mundo
Man... Seriously, will you ever get old ?!
Nicko kills it every time.
How much fun would it be to drum like that.
