    I have used your tutorials and have made 2 bags. This is the first tutorial that I have followed where I have gotten the stitch count correct and made the item perfectly (even though I've switched up the pattern a bit). Your tutorial is very easy and clear. I applaud you!! Just from learning how to change the first colour, I've made my bag with multiple colours, including a solid colour as a separation line. It looks fantastic!! I'm going to try the cardigan next! Thank you from Trinidad in the Caribbean!!!
    Do you make fair isle hats? I would love to be able to do that. I think you might be the person to make me understand it.

    Why crochet in joined rounds AND turn? I’m “newer” to crochet so I love the explanation of why the pattern is the way it is!

    • @YarnandChai
      @YarnandChai  5 лет назад +3

      We only do it for the bottom, and it's to keep the capsule shape from getting distorted and "leaning". When you make a crochet stitch, the top loops lie slightly to the right of the base of the stitch, so when you work in unturned rounds, it goes on a bit of a diagonal which will throw off your flat base. I switch back to turned rounds again at the top to keep the eyelets lined up. Hope that helps! :)

    i have finished my first bag and made some mistakes along the way and am now working on my second and third bag and just wanted to make some notes: for lefties, when they say work the end to the other side, bring it to the front, not the back. Also, they do not take into account the slip stitch when doing the chain one and turn then putting it into the first stitch but they do count it in the stitch count which is very confusing so I just go into the slip stitch instead of the one before it.

    • @chloe5375
      @chloe5375 5 лет назад +1

      Also, when doing the mosaic part, you want to make sure that the thinner yarn goes between the V and not to the side as it will look bad if you do not make sure of it.

    After we finish the bottom part of the bag, do we need to fasten off the remaining yarn or leave attached until Part 2 is released for the mosaic part of the bag? I'm still fairly new to crocheting bags (& choosing a yarn was a bit of a struggle as I wanted to make sure my skeins had yardage required & even tho my yarn says its a #4 weight, I think my bag is going to end up a size between the 2 in the pattern even tho I'm using classic sized directions) I chose lion brand 24/7 cotton for main colors & serenity sock yarn for my mosaic pattern to show thru...

    • @YarnandChai

    Hi your instruction videos are amazing! I have a quick question, hoping u will get back to me. I am doing this bag with red heart size 18 nylon crochet thread with 4mm hook, after round 12 for the classic size the base still looks smaller. Definitely mine is not 12.5 in Can u plz help me how to increase the size from the base chain 15. I tried to increase the chain by 21 or 24 but kind of scared that I will get stuck while I crochet the top part of the bag with color A. What could be the base chain in numbers to make it a size larger than the classic size?
    Sorry for the long message. Can’t wait to hear back from u. Thanks! Please reply at the earliest possible

    • @YarnandChai
      @YarnandChai  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Nisha! Your base should only be measuring about 8" across for the Classic bag. The 12.5" measurement is when the bag is completed and laid flat, which is a totally different measurement. (If you want to shoot me an email at rebecca@yarnandchai.com, I can send you a photo illustration explaining this better.)

    I bought yarn online for this and it described it as "medium" gauge. When it arrived, it looked so small! I started the bag and, unfortunately, it's significantly smaller than it should be. So frustrating!

      What yarn did you purchase? I ask because cotton yarn can look significantly thinner than acrylic yarn of the same weight, so sometimes it can surprise people, but that doesn't mean it's not what you need.

      @@YarnandChai it says 100% acrylic. I also counted my stitches and they're right where they should be.

      And the yarn is Caron #4. Ive been using a 5.5mm hook as well.

      @@cherby12 is it Caron Simply Soft? That is a thin #4, yes. It's not a very strong yarn and I'm not sure I'd use it for a bag. I strongly recommend cotton.

    If I do more increases that will make the bag wider right?

    I am not exactly a newby but i need clarification before i proceed any further. i have just started Pt 2 (round 23) - now continuous rounds - please can you confirm which side will be the outside of the completed bag i.e. round Pt 1 ended on a wrong side round so first round of Pt 1 (23) will be a wrong side seemingly indicating that the outside of the bag will be what is normally the inside of the work ! I do hope you can understand what I am trying to say ? thank you

    She's using a G 4million hook

      Correct, it's a 4mm, which could be an F, G, or letterless hook depending on brand.
