I think Muta's cover is fantastic, it's a representation of how he sees his curse and his dream body standing among the corpses he controls with his technique, I know Gege likes Mechamaru's design and I can see why, the fact that Muta is coloured and the puppets are dull is also a nice touch. Goes hard.
I also see a reference in the construction of the image similar to the chinese stone army wiwh is very fitting for his character. An army of soldier here to protect someone that his dead (wich could be a vision of his heavenly restriction) but now he's healed so he's colored to show he's not the same that he was
The thing about gojos 1st cover is that gege accidentally ereased that part of gojos hand and also closed the drawing programm. So it didn't properly save and gege was too lazy to fix it
2:17 volume covers shouldn't spoil the content of the volume itself, not previous volumes. Sukuna stole Megumi's body in volume 24, hence why Gege put him in Megumi's body as volume 25's cover, since it's not a spoilers for those who have read volume 24
personally i feel like even if you have only started reading the manga and suddenly saw that cover, you wouldn't immediately think that sukuna possessed megumi by then. you just think, oh, sukuna has black hair now.
I agree here like with 26, you see gojo on the cover but it doesn't spoil the main volume, it just says that he got out of the prison realm in the previous volume.
@@_enkiI mean, going off with that, you'd also not be able to discern that Mahito's evolved form IS Mahito if just looking at it in a cover without context. The evolved form looks nothing like his default. You'd need to have received a spoiler somewhere else to figure out. Otherwise it just looks like a brand new curse, man.
"She can't wield the power of Jupiter, that's not her power" you just mentioned she should have a cosmic background, because her CT is Mass. Jupiter is the most massive planet in our solar system. IT IS a reference to her power.
Brother. #28 Isnt Mahito transforming into ISBDK. (Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing) Its him being pulled into Geto's curse manipulation. You could even make the argument that he's already being pulled into a vortex for Uzumaki. And for that, its one of my favorites.
I want to defend Cover 26. I think the way Satoru smiles at the camellia flowers is very special and intentional. Among other references and symbolism, in Miyagi Prefecture, camellia are believed to whisper the voices of the dead. Camellia is listed as the birthday flower for February 3, which is Suguru's birthday. The title on the right reads "towards South". Camellia can also symbolize 'longing' and 'reserved affection', which only adds to this forlorn imagery.

If you see this, I hope you know that Yuki was not killed with Jujutsu. The black hole technique was separate from her cursed technique, which is mass. The black hole was a side effect not created by cursed energy. There’s a possibility for Vengeful Spirit Yuki…
The reason Yuki is holding Jupiter on Volume 23 is because Jupiter is the densest planet in te Solar System, it supposed to be a reference to her Cursed Technique, Gege is such a nerd 🤓

Yeah never rank Vol 16 ever again. The colours are SPECTACULAR and so aesthetically pleasing! and the background dude. Is so fucking raw. Definetly top 5 for me.
Ngl, when you mentioned the Geto vol cover's color scheme being muddy it kinda reminded me of how the former viewed and expressed the taste of curse spirits when he consumes them. And the orb that they transform into being the prominent thing in the cover kinda provides good juxtaposition of how beautiful it's core colors are while the light it actually emits is dull and muddy, which shows that no matter how appealing or beautiful a curse is, by their nature alone they are always horrid beings. It's just my little perspective on things, but you kinda made the cover better for me when you said that.
Honestly your comment of Geto in vol 9 "looks covered in oil" is interesting, because Geto's name in Japanese is written as summer oil = 夏油. I do agree it's pretty basic as a cover, I think the muddiness of the color fits the tone of the chapters it contained pretty well, though. It is "gyokusetsu / 玉折 = broken jewel" after all. The focus on the spirit ball symbolizing the negative emotions of people and possibly his own hatred towards them, I think is pretty cool.
Big fan of vol 15 here, the image of him contorting himself into the shape of the cacoon that was used when he uses idle transfiguration and evolves into his new form stylized. I think the weird part is him pulling his mouth but also think that part is necessary to help portray him altering his own body
You should do this for other series. It’s a great idea and would love to hear your thoughts on mangas like Naruto, or even older ones like Dragon Ball.
Volume 1 and 4 will always be nostalgic to me, back when the anime came out i was searching for jjk wallpapers and these two volumes just looked fire to me, they have a special aura that the others don't have
2:26 i respectfully disagree heavily on this part, i think this should be wayyy higher, putting this below mei mei is criminal the reason the color palette is so muddy and oily is actually because that's what his name translates to "Summer Oil" the color's are not supposed to be popping out and bright like the usual covers, the chapters it contains are mostly filled with geto's despair and i think this encapsulates that.
Yuki is holding Jupiter because it’s the object with the most mass in the solar system besides the sun, but her holding the sun wouldn’t send the message as well as Jupiter does.
