In this video I ranked all of the MHA volume covers. It's a series I love, and I find manga and manga cover art to be super interesting, so I was excited to make a video about it.
Volume 20 was meant to resemble a movie poster, i think it did a good job at that. Volume 11 is criminally low
It's specifically based off of Star Wars movie poster

12:47 fun fact: this cover is actually a reference to one of the ultimate Spider-Man run cover arts. Horikoshi is a huge comic book fan
Seeing volume 20 this low is actually painful. It looks like a classic Star Wars movie poster, which is why it goes so hard in my opinion. My current favorite cover is probably volume 40 tho. All Might looks too damn awesome on that one.
I think the covers pretty good but I can understand putting it lower because it looks more like a generic movie poster which it was supposed to be but the cover isn’t really too unique
Personally, I think the all-might one (vol. 11) should be much higher. Not as high as some of the others but at least top 20 or 15. But 33 is crazy

I feel like you underated the Dabi cover with the blue flames (vol. 30). It's so aesthetically pleasing and carries alot of emotion. I know it's top 15, but to me it should go much higher

#39 (volume 20) is amazing idk what you mean, idk if it's true but it looks exactly like the old poster for a new hope and this makes total sense because horikoshi is a massive star wars fan going as far as naming streets and locations the name of star wars planets (everyone's entitled to their own opinion but for me I really love it)
I'd say this is my most subjective super low ranking, and I feel stupid for not noticing the Star Wars in this cover
Still, as I said, this cover cover doesn't do it for me. I fully understand why someone would like this cover, tho.

When I read your comment initially, I thought you were talking about volume 39, and I was so confused for a while because that cover looks nothing like Star Wars.

4:10 Hori mentioned that when designing that cover the green lighting on Aizawa was meant to show Deku approaching to protect Aizawa but yeah I’m not a big fan of how the idea was executed

Nice video, but just so you know... I think the one for Volume 15 is meant to represent Izuku´s state of mind in the volume. Full of hurt for Eri, All Might and his overall flaws, so he ishurting but he has to be strong to deal with the suituation...
It is also one of my least favorite covers, but I do thing it deserves a bit more credit
Vol 20 was meant to be like a movie poster most notably the original 1977 Star Wars poster with Luke weilding his lightsaber

I don't love or know JJK like MHA (I do really like the series tho), but I'm also not caught up, and there's also already a great video by Jallomoth that ranks the JJK covers which was part of the inspiration for this video.
So I probably won't do this with JJK, but if I catch up and feel compelled to, I might. I do really like the JJK covers.

Nah, volume 15 makes perfect sense. It represents Deku’s conflict with letting Eri go. How do people not understand that? Also, it does NOT look bad at all, so saying it looks AI generated is a horrible take. & vol 20 is easily my favorite. It’s a Star Wars cover, which is Hori’s favorite series. I think it's cool, but the screaming looks a little weird. I think it's probably better than volume 35 at showing Shigaraki and Deku in conflict, but I like the expressions more on that one. I have to go back and look at my list, but I'd say probably outside of top 10 but within top 20. Also, it's super cool to get a comment in a different language.
