When I first saw the title I figured I would watch at some point...not sure why I thought that. After watching I highly recommend running a 2nd episode. Great information and a nice view of how ponds mature after a year or two.

I'm so glad you're doing this! I've saved a few of these vlogs just because, the landscaping was so exceptional! My favorite was you and Greg filming in IL. The customer wanted a stream all around the property. You suggested he add a pond as well (he did). The customer's landscaping skills, are over the top!!

Of course make more videos on plants. I love my plants and even though I know what to plant around ponds I still love seeing this. You had two trees I have never heard of. New plants come out all the time and people like me who are gardeners just can't keep up with them all. This will help those who are new to planting around ponds to see there are plants that won't invade the pond. When I had started ponds everyone was at me telling me I am going to have trouble with plants invading the pond. I made a lot of trips to the library years ago to learn what to plant. As you get comfortable you try different things and see what works. People like me just love seeing the final product of the softness plants bring against the hard edges of the rocks and maybe find the name of a plant we have never heard of before that we can try in our own gardens. Plants will either make a pond look like it's always been there and belongs or it will make the pond look totally artificial. I am looking forward to this. God bless 👍👍👍

I really enjoyed this video...cozy back yard. The trees are just beautiful and seeing what others plant around their ponds, surely gives me some ideas on what I can add around my pond. I'm in a zone 8 b and still working on getting plants that can fill in with color and softening the edges of the pond. Please do more of these videos....ideas are always welcome no matter what zone you live in.

@@GregWittstockThePondGuy yes, but haven’t done the edges yet cause I don’t know how to finish the edges 😬. Plus I might have to go buy new rock cause big cobble isn’t really cutting it for this pond. Clearly you can tell this is my first pond I have built. Lots of tweaking and redoing has happened 🤦🏼‍♀️. I can’t afford a professional to come and do it so I have been watching a lot of your videos to help me out!

Thank-You! Cynthia, from British Columbia, Canada. I grew up in the desert: Osoyoos,BC and now live in what feels like Rainforest to me: Vancouver Island. BC. I have a fish pond in my backyard here, and also have my 75 gallon fish tank. I’ve lived in the “north” of BC for my job and I was shocked that “Hens & Chicks” lived through the -50 winters up there! So, I’m wondering why no one ever talks about Portulaca? They are an annual in some zones, but they look like a succulent (much like Hens & Chicks) and when planted in rock-like settings, they seem to thrive. I had a ton in my plant beds in my last desert-like home of Kamloops, BC, as they didn’t seem to care if they got watered or not. Now, in the “damp island conditions” they seem to love the sunny location of the rocks around my fish pond.

Please keep sharing your pond plant experience. It has helped me create my various areas in my pond. Really interested in creeping ground cover type plants that have a tropical look. I've had to move plants around to get that layerd lush feel. So much to learn in water gardening.

Totally worth it!!! From the pocket planters, the edges, berms, screening!!! Seeing a variety of different customers water features the similarities and the difference is excellent.
Btw I like the same style the creeping green planting pushes the pond waterfalls down into the ground and naturalizes them.
