    I have subscribed to this channel because this guy has the patience for this just like me. I got in inspired with ponds recently and spent a lot of money to buy Equipment so that I can do it for my home and maybe do business.
    I purchased a mini 2Ton excavator 16000$, small wheel loader 10,000$, Trailer 3000$, pumps, water modules, lights, EPDM liner etc.
    This channel is just perfect for me because we share the same climate. Thanks.

    Sectioned off 2/3rds of my smaller wetland from the ducks and chickens so I can finally plant out some of my pond. Pretty excited. Got a japanese maple, juniper, and rose of sharon in already. Now going to get some ground cover and other stuff. I think being forced to design everything with no soft edging really helped my skill at setting rocks at least lol.

    I love your ponds... they aren't overdone... you know how the big guys in the business like to really overdo ponds and yours look natural and soothing... You should try Hyacinth Bean Vine--it's gorgeous and grows large in one season...grows up a trellis or a rope and bellows out at the top... maybe get creative and put some very tall rods 10ft or taller with a rope-wrapped around it and it will grow to the top and bellow out... will give some height around the pond ... smells great too... green leaves with purple undersides and beautiful purple flowers---plant full sun---collect seeds when they are dry and brown then replant... give to friends---they love water so they may like their toes in the pond...

    I am inspired to rethink about and redesign our pond in the village home. It's in Bangladesh and no one decorates pond here. Our pond is large and used for growing fish. I still have no idea where to start as it large. but I watch your videos to learn more and more.

    This is great information, thank you. 😊 I like to know what is native to Australia and the conditions the plant needs; you nailed it. Any updates on plants and how to care for them, what to do if they become invasive etc would be much appreciated.

    • @Ozponds

      For around a pond a dwarf nandina they look good year round and are low maintenance. Inside the pond some milfoil awesome to soften the edges and the fish will enjoy hiding in it. Of course in the deeper areas a water lily or 2. Good luck with your project 👍

    Do you know if there are any edible plants that can serve as pond plants?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  2 года назад

      Off the top of my head- Taro, water chestnuts, mint, water cress. Some people will grow lettuce and strawberries in their bog filters.

    Do you ever have to deal with snakes around your ponds?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 года назад

      We have a few highly poisonous species native to the area. But I haven’t seen any for the last 12 years. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. I love biodiversity but would prefer the killers stick to the bush and not my backyard.

    My pond is just about a year and a half old. Do you find ponds do better as they age? I'm still struggling with string algea and murky water. Pond is huge i know I need more filtration. Still working on adding more plants

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 года назад +1

      Experts always say that ponds get better with age. And to a degree they do as the plants establish and the gardens grow in the ponds look more natural. But murky water and string algae shouldn’t be a problem in a well designed pond after 18months. Like you say more filtration. You can never have enough.

    • @ilianascreationsanddiys7795
      @ilianascreationsanddiys7795 3 года назад

      @@Ozponds thanks for the reply. I'm sure thats the case here. Well continue to add filtration until we get it right.

    0:52 shouldn't you fix the view of the pond liner there? it's such a shame to see that at the bottom of such a good looking feature

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 года назад

      I do need glasses. But I don’t see liner at the bottom of the ponds? I see some on the edges. This doesn’t bother me as the plants will fill that in over time. I like to be able to easily inspect the edges as they settle over time and can create low spots.
