This is so cool! I'm starting playing the atrumstick and this lesson was SO MUCH FUN and so easy to learn. I'm to practice, practice, practice this. Please make more blues videos for us beginners. 😁
if you like the sounds you are making, it’s fine. good to be able to do the other way too, there are tempos that can be too fast for up up down down...it’s a particular effect, not ideal for everything.
Help ! Is he holding a pick ? Then is he holding all the strings down on 3rd and 4th fret? It sounds terrible. I looked at all the chord charts and can't see this...even on the Jazzy/ Fun chords pdf.
These are Barre chords, also called Power chords. Yes, 1st finger is holding down all three strings at 3rd fret(G) and then at 4th fret (A) (on the D Strumstick). Yes using a pick but not required. You have to flatten out your finger, if its curved, wont hold all three strings down. This G and this A chord are listed with the chords in alphabetical order diagrams for D Strumstick, they would be C and D on a G Strumstick.
Each to their taste, that’s why there are so many different kinds of instruments in the world. The Strumstick is little on purpose. Ever take a Dulcimer (or a Guitar) on the AT? Thanks for watching. Bob
@@bobomcnally True. I'd probably take a soprano ukulele, on the AT, though. Although you might better scare away a rabid dog with a strumstick! A uke isn't very threatening as a weapon. And off the trail, one can always amplify with a piezo pickup.
@@squirlmy yep I have to admit a pickup would even make that stick sound loud... But you'll be Playing old songs that know one wants to here.. I like to see this guy play some pink floyd.. AC/DC or Led zeppelin on that amplified dulcimer stick...my recommendation to a person with no experience would be to get a 3 string cigar box guitar there in open G and also 99% if not all of people wanting to learn how to play a guitar can care less about taking it on a trip... They just want to learn how to play..👉 3 string guitar in open G 😎🎼👍
Not a dulcimer (though musically related). mulch smaller, more portable, plays differently than dulcimer, and doesn’t make you sit down. both are great instruments, this is designed minimal, aimed at novices. great entry instrument.. sounds great for such a little sound box. and more resonant than the tin can instruments.

You sell them?
Nice one, thank you Bob.
Thank you it's amazing 😊
You could even use a slide if you wanted. Get some of that really twangy bluesy riffage between your shuffles. That could be cool.
go for it!
this sounds like summer lovin from greade by john trevolta and the girl ]
Thanks for your videos...I have learned a lot.
Play any song you like no experience needed in just one day with a cigar box guitar..this mountain dulcimer stick is a joke ..
What are you tuned to?
Is there anything unwise or shortsighted (I won't say "wrong") about strumming this down-down up-up rather than down up down down as you do?

I'm looking for one like this but a one-string guitar. If anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know. Thanks!
You should try etsy, I know you can at least get a one string canjo

barre chords (power chords, 151) to illustrate for beginners. Yes, with a pick.
That dulcimer is to little....sounds like a muted string on a ten can 😏

These record really nicely, sound great with a little reverb added, and cut through in a mix.
