The continuous buzzing at first switch on when you touch the leads together, is the self proving stage of the tester so you know it is ready and safe to use.

Are the leads soft silicone or rubbery hard plastic? Cheers.
When I test a light switch with the tester should it give me the voltage that’s there when I put one probe to the com and the other to L1???????
My tester is buzzing to tell me there’s power but the lights to tell me what the voltage is are not lighting up.
Does it have to be applied to Live and Earth to get the voltage? I thought Live and Neutral would be enough to tell me what the voltage is, in fact any live circuit.
