Hey there Byte Savvy, Best wishes from Ireland. My inbox went empty tonight and I panicked, thought everything was gone. I looked on line for solutions and founds a lot of suggestions and videos before I stumbled on yours. I have to say you are brilliant, your video was clear, consise and bang on. I have just finished the repair and cannot thank you enough. Ever best wish for the future and thanks again. David
Greetings back to you from Montana! Thanks so much for the feedback. Doing these videos is akin to putting a message in a bottle and tossing it in the ocean. You never really know what impact it might have. I'm very happy that this solved your problem!
If the deleted profile connected to a POP3 account you can create a new profile with the appropriate connection info and select "Use Existing Outlook Data File". Click on the Browse button and locate the .pst file. This should bring back any saved e-mail from before the deletion.
Dick, first let me say how much I appreciate your help. I am using MS Outlook. I ran the steps, the beginning of your video, again and it seems as though it worked. The Outlook is working. Thanks again. Steve
Hello Dick. I have a Toshiba Laptop that gets hot and turns itself off. Then I have to run the resetnavpane (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Run, Type Outlook.exe /resetnavpane) and it runs again. However, Outlook seems to be running slowly. It pauses and starts and just isn't right. Do you think I should purchase a newer version of Outlook. And should I follow your instruction and attempt to "fix" the files? I really don't know what I am doing and am terrified of losing my emails. Thanks for you help. I'm in Seattle surrounded by techies and don't know a single one of them.
Hi Don. First you should resolve the overheating issue. The fan is either not working or has accumulated junk that should be cleaned out. If you want to talk about your issues, give me a call and we can discuss it. I am in Montana an hour ahead of you. You can click on the "Visit Our Website" link in the banner to get the number. By the way, I moved here after living 20 yrs in Redmond.
Hey Don, when I read your comment with regards to your laptop overheating, I was reminded of a women who had been running her laptop without any type of cooling device underneath it. And yes, I was very surprised that her laptop wasn't destroyed due to overheating. This woman not only had her laptop sitting flat on her kitchen table, but she also had it sitting directly on the top of a thickly quilted cloth placemat as well. Btw- The main reason this woman's laptop finally met its demise, is because she had let her anti-virus program expire! ::: Lets out a low whistle:::Lastly- I've been using a tower computer for several years now. And one of the ways I've found to help prevent heaps of dust gathering inside my machine, is to simply drape mosquito netting over my tower. And yes, I do of course still need to clean the fans within my computer now and then. But even so, the mosquito netting really does help to cut down on the amount of dust being sucked into it. ; )
Thank you for posting this, this video answered all my questions and helped me out. I work from home and panicked when i couldn't receive my emails. This worked perfectly great video and thanks again.
Thanks for your help. This was very helpful. We moved the server from VMWare to Hyper-V and users started reporting that they are getting this error. Your video was extremely helpful. Thanks once again.
Unfortunately scanpst.exe does not work in my case - probably because my Outlook 2010 pst file is close to 50 GB. I've come across a couple of potential solutions online but they tend to be expensive at $100-150 for software which *may* fix the issue. I'm still looking for a cost-effective solution ...
good day Byte! could you tell me what to do when OST file reaches 50GB i am unable to send/receive mails in outlook 2010.it pop up a error like your mail box size is full.
The first thing is to empty your Deleted Items and Sent Items folders. Next you can archive and/or export mail that you want to keep into .pst files. Hope this helps.
Microsoft provides the Inbox Repair tool to repair PST file. It's commonly known as the scanpst.exe utility. It comes as a built-in repair tool with the Outlook client. By using the scanpst.exe utility, you can scan corrupt PST file and repair it. It can fix header corruption issues and rebuild the file structure. I think SCANPST will not work for me, I tried to repair my PST file using it, but as soon I clicked on the start button it gave me an error message saying “Scanpst.exe tool is not responding. An unknown error has occurred”. I was looking for some solution then, I found a useful tool named as Stellar PST repair. After I restored my file using this software I was able to sync my PST with outlook easily again.
Your video was excellent as MS web site was no help. However, I am getting a message that "Offline synchronization is not ...", can you help with this issue?
Hi Steven - With some more information, maybe I can help. Are you repairing a PST or OST file. If an OST, where is the Exchange server located - in an office or is it hosted elsewhere? Please give me more detail on when you get the message. If you want to contact me directly, click on the "Visit our website" link on our Channel page. When on the site, my email address is on the "Contact Us" page.

Hi, my hotmail inbox has been Archived and i can no longer see my inbox mail. How can i fix this so that i have all my inbox mail again???
This will repair internal errors in the file. However, if part of the file can't be read (ie unreadable sector) then it probably won't help.
