Okay, you have my attention. Way back in the pc Stone Age, I had a game for my Apple IIc called Universe (I think, it’s been awhile). You needed the second floppy drive to play. The manual was a freaking huge binder that had a built in stand so you could have it open while playing. To orbit you had to figure out in input everything it was more an orbital math training program than game but it was fun. Kinda wish I kept all those old games and that old apple….

@@Roughpaws_Studio this is a one guy job, and he his focusing on core gameplay mechanics. So no idea about VR right now. First job was having a faithfull galaxy (npc trafic, distribution of news data across systems and so on). Right now the ship is mostly complete, with supplies, maintenance, life support and core ship functionalities such as power, cooling, navigation planner, space positionning and accuracy, communications.
He's now entering what he calls the "gamification", with actual missions and other things like that.

It's a really amazing game made by a very passionate developer. Most of the system layers are already in, and he will be working on more of the 'game' layers (missions, progression, NPC interaction, etc.) very soon. Even now, though, it's super fun. I cannot wait to see how it shapes up this year.

I may be coming across as a bit of a moaner, and you'd be right, but this also hurts the devs who's game you feature as this is possibly the only coverage of their game, and then people, like me, try to buy it only to find it's not available yet, and then we forget about it meaning the dev loses potential sales.

My dream game is basically a whole bunch of my favorite games' concepts and features mashed into one thing; Orbital and atmospheric flight mechanics from KSP, avatars/character models from vrchat, boneworks/bonelab/VTOLVR style interactions for your hands, Elite Dangerous' sound design, and semi-realistic graphics that prioritizes believability and readability over realism. I hope someday we can have something like this, it'd be amazing.

"interactions for your hands" I'm guessing realistic flight controls? you phrase it so weirdly but I think I have what you mean
"Elite Dangerous' sound design" I don't have that one, I plan on realistic sound design which is simple and boring, no crazy unrealistic alien WOMWOMs

Planets look like beach balls. So similarly to elite dangerous, the galaxy is 1:1 in span but not in depth and variety. This is a very last Gen approach to space games that focused on numerical permutation over rich curated or procedurally assisted hand crafted experiences. I hope the devs reconsider this decision. As we learned from starfield, contemporary gamers will no longer be impressed with planet count, system count, or claims of 1:1 scale. Gamers are looking for rich, deep, and meaningful interaction with environments and not simply seeing the same identical assets procedurally scattered over and over. Elite dangerous failure to retain players even as less than 1% of the game galaxy was ever explored speaks as to the problem with procedural generation where more numbers is not necessarily better.
