Steve’s so good he went back in time on the drive and on the service. He fixed it three days before the other guy broke it.

Nice video Steve! Good ole water heater. You know what’s messed up? Our Rheem/Richmond guy said they are stopping production of gas water heaters by 2028 what a crock huh?

Cool a baby oil burner. Even has a tiny HV transformer to. Nice neighborhood. Cost efficient WH?

Steve, you ever have a problem with the plate at the bottom of the flu inside the tank getting carboned / sooted up and blocked. I hate these oil fired water tanks? I had another teck state it was ok to remove this plate. any thoughts?

The plate is there to increase thermal efficiency, if you remove it you'll also change the draft over the fire and the burner will need complete readjustment, if it's even possible. Might do more harm then good. Keep the burner maintained and proper setup and you won't have soot.

Is there any benefit to draining the water tank about once a year? Based on youtube, some say do it and some say don't do it. The videos that show them draining it, you can see dirty water come out at first.
