    @FrisoLustig Being an Engineer at RR both Boeing and Airbus are top class companies no one can critisize them. The positives of both these companies effortlessly weigh out the negatives, who doesn't have negatives? Even Rolls and GE have negatives it's just how you implement procedures and strategies to keep them minimized and preventing them from happening. It annoys me when people call Airbus, what the hell they made the 1st double decker and now the A350 XWB is another new era about to rip in

    I did get a bit excited and as a result the posts went on and on - tosser indeed. (PS - I would sell my computer, but it was electrocuted in an electrical storm by a power surge, so it runs slower now. No one will buy it!) I digress. Have a good one and check out some of my vids. Ignore the Boeing bias please...

    Yes it has become a boring planet, seeing as a Boeing plane takes off every 2 seconds, every day....

    Also what is so "paper" about the 737 (and A320) I might ask? The 737 has been around for generations, the A350 is in planning. Both the A320 and 737 are great sellers. The A343 has sold just over 200. The 772 has sold about 650 and continues to sell, whilst the A340 is dead. The numbers are objective and speak for themselves. I digress. The A350 will be interesting though...forget about the A340 and lets move on. LH gets the 748 soon, you must be excited about that?

    You forgot to metion the huge lawsuit (Boeing and EADS are always sued) that Airbus had to pay out because they lied about A340 fuel consumption (rather the EADS marketing machine grossly overestimated the numbers somewhat conveniently). There is a difference between poor maths and lying. This happened when airlines placed cargo in the forward section of the aircraft cargo bay, which caused the poorly designed A340 to fly with is nose "tilting down" wasting tonnes of fuel.

    Frisco - technology always changes. 777 killer my left foot - as A340 was supposed to be - what a joke that was. The 777 has been a king for many years (just as the A300 - was it its space for a long time). So of course the A350-1000 will be better than most as it will be the newest - but it is 17 years behind the 1st 777! Sure enough, as the A351 comes out, Boeing will make a composite frame on the 777 and still be the best (as long as they dont outsource production again).

    You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about in your summary of this video. If the horizontal and vertical stabilizers didnt shake/vibrate they would snap. Add to that the plane is not moving and creating a lot of thrust. All planes vibrate when taking off and landing and during flight. That said, the 777 is the best designed plane in the world. Do come along really and dont write bs.
    It does look cool though.

    @onecunningfox: yep, the A340 is dead. It appeared to be a plane operating in a niche market. Also there was not a lot of choice with engines. That's why sales were poor (and because fuel became very expensive since 2005 or so). The B772 has RR, PW and GE engines. The B77W is the best plane from 300 to 400 seats ever build, only with one engine available. The sales are remarkable and great! But,hey, it is great to share ideas and opinions with you! :)

    @onecunningfox: I think we have a different opinion, you think? ;) The B777 sells amazingly, it may become the best selling wide bodied jet ever. Congratz to Boeing and I like the amazing power take offs of the B777. What I like about the A340s is that they are more quiter, they have amazing long and sluggish take offs and are rares. As an aviation enthusiasdt you ust admit that, right? Also, I look forward to the B748 but I think only LH and KE have ordered passenger versions right?

  • @FrisoLustig
    @FrisoLustig 12 лет назад

    @onecunningfox: Please be a bit more objective. Fuel consumption of the A340-300X (latest version) per passenger per km on long distance flights (more than 10 hours) is better than the B777-200ER. So bet you mean the B777-300Er. To avoid risks plane makers press out the maximum out of the airframe. That's why Airbus has finally stopped to evolve the A300 model and that's why Boeing continues its 737 (which - like the first version of the A350) is still a paper plane....

    @onecunningfox: The best designed plane in the world? Based on? A bit subjective, isn't it? The B777-200er has been beaten by the A330-300 on missions up to 10,000 km and the A350-900 already has a nickname: B777-200ER killer for the long missions. The 777-300ER still has a monopoly being the only two-eniged plane for around 400 passengers, but is to be beaten by the newly designed A350-1000.

    @onecunningfox Sorry I offended you with the comment but I do know what Im talking about as it did fail, I wasn't bagging the planes design at all I think your going a bit over the top there man, but thanks for the comment.

    On the 748 and LH and KE I believe you are correct. I agree that as poorly timed and designed the A340 was, it is one of the nicest looking planes when she does a long and lazy takeoff. She also looks good parked at the gate too! Comfy to fly on as well I must add. (I did Frankfurt to Denver - I hate Denver! - with a connection on UAL [awful] to LAX.) Long and sleek the A340 is... That said, the 748 will now be the longest...

    @enterthematrix11: wow, such a lot of reactions! :) Apparantly you did not read my reply to our objective Boeing boy because I fully agree with you, the current 777-300ER beats the A340 in any circumstance. But I think if we may believe that Boeing boy, only 737, 777 and 787 may fly around, occassionally 757 and 767. That would be a very boring planet, wouldn't it? PS. Boeing designs better planes? Subjective, in A'bus sold more planes than B for the 9th time in 11 years.....
