I thought Energon was the coolest! Especially when megatron throws a bot into that energy pool to see what would happen- then jumps in himself to become galvatron!
This talk about Energon just reminds me how the Energon Sword toy was in Dead Rising as the Toy Laser Sword. It even has a tiny Decepticon logo on it.
If they should represent Energon more, I'd've opted for an Optimus/Wing Saber combo. Still one of the best figure combinations in that series.

The fact we have more fucking *rock lords* than Energon characters is insane. Energon models are straight up CADs that would practically 1:1 convert to Legacy toys. Hoping for a Gens Select Energon Tidal Wave and maybe a Leader/Commander Scorponok. Great designs

Who else likes Tidalwave because of how he was portrayed in Energon? Imo he's easily the best character in Energon.

I didn't grow up with Energon because I'm a G1 kid, but it's one of my favorite lines. The Mini-Cons could still connect, but since they didn't have to activate anything the figures didn't need to factor those in their design, making for better engineered figures. There are multiple forms of combination--the top/bottom design, variations on the Scramble style, weapons that can combine and connect, and armor. We don't get enough armor in Transformers.
It's one of my favorite lines, but between a weak show and Dreamwave collapsing in the middle of the superior comic version, it really got the short end of the stick.
What I'd like the most is an Energon Scorponok, either in Leader or Voyager. Likely Leader tho, since he does have that 3rd alt mode of that weird jet. You already have some repaint potential with Botcon Double punch and maybe a Dark Energon Scorponok color scheme
A 'Transformers Powerlinx' toyline would be cool because you could sneak in the Multiforce!!
I'd've been glad to see the Multiforce in Combiner Wars (more likely Unite Warriors), but maybe they could also be Micromaster combiners or even Weaponizers to facilitate the shirt-pants/Powerlinx pairs like Machtackle AND still be able to form a CW-scale Landcross (:

The show was flawed yes but there’s some pretty good and cool designs/figures, the decepticons are doable cause their gimmick was a hypemode basically alt mode with more weapons then auto bots had powerlinx which but tricky to do but possible.
Energon megatron could make for a solid voyager or leader then the toy colour galvatron repaint that’d be amazing or inferno that’s a solid figure for it’s time and could benefit well from an update.
The decepticons could probably fill out the deluxes like Cyclonus, demolishor, starscream, snowcat, etc maybe a few of the scout class could be deluxes if they need autobots in the deluxe. The auto bots might have to be mainly voyager to keep them in the same size class and budget for the power link gimmick to hopefully work and medium size decepticons mirage/shockblast, leaders could be the big bots like scorponok, wingsaber, etc
A good figure to start with maybe starscream as we have armada and cybertron so energon release to complete the trio and have a new seeker mold to get repaints from would be easy to do.

I would argue that override was the centerpiece of the capsule line, since that’s the planet she came from.

Frankly with all the Cybertron love I'm surprised we haven't gotten a Reissue of Galaxy Upgrade Prime from Seige
It's especially conspicuous with Starscream since we have both the Armada and Cybertron version accounted for, but Energon is nowhere to be seen. Shame that the show's reception more than likely negatively affected it's toy showings in Legacy, to the point that releasing really niche, deep-cut characters ends up being a more sound business decision in HasTak's eyes than anything from Energon. There are some really cool designs in that show.
The fact that we got even this is a miracle.

I think that the Power Linx feature is a major obstacle for another reason. To use it, you need at least two figures. So to sell it, they would need to dedicate at least two spots in a wave to Energon figures. And when you only produce three or four figures at a time, dedicating multiple slots to one toy series is asking a lot.
If that's the case i think a good strategy would be to primarily focus on the decepticons at the moment, they don't have Powerlinx abilities soo they would be easier to make (also I'm surprised they haven't done Snow Cat at least because he could have been a Siege Ironhide retool)
I also hope we get Energon Battle Ravage , Divebomb , Skyblast , and Leader Class Energon Megatron.
The Omnicons and Terrorcons are holy grail level. Hot Shot is in his best form, Inferno is great, Cliffjumper and Jetfire a match made in heaven and Wing Saber is amazing with articulation added. Rodimus and Prowl with realistic proportions as in their specs cards rock. The Energon Megatron, Demolishor, Snow Cat, Starscream, Mirage and Slugslinger are phenomenal designs. Scorponok and Sharkticon the cream of the Terrorcon crop. I'm hoping they delay so that they perfect the mechanics, articulation and overall appearance of these toys.
I don't care if it's a repaint, I want a Leader Class or Larger Energon Megatron!!!! Just love his and the other designs in this and Cybertron!❤❤❤
A Shockblast and Sixshot repaint afterwards would be so good. Even a Overload repaint to do Ultra Magnus would be cool too. Yes ik we dont have Overload yet lol
Shockblast and Flashpoint how I like to call Six Shot are solid figures. If they split their legs into solar panel wings for their satellite modes they'd be complete. The space cannon rover and satellite were such creative forms for them like the motorcycle for Energon Arcee which paved the way for Prime Arcee and many more of her.
I don't remember a lot from RiD 01 or the Unicron trilogy, but I started my love for Transformers with these series. One of my first toys from the line was the Energon Perceptor Minicon pack.
This is a late comment because I’ve had time to stew on it, but at best Energon is 20-40% repainted Armada toys, so if we succeed in getting more Armada designs then that opens the door to Energon repaints.
I would even take a Voyager Divebomb. Don't ask why. I just would.
Shockwave with a green arm labeled shockblast would upset me. At least enlarge one of the arms and slap a turret on a 5mm port on the other.
And you can't tell me that energon toys were so ornately engineered that they can't be replicated now. Just take the old ones, tweak'em a bit, add some joints, maybe enlarge some of em.
Besides Flamewar, Shattered Glass also gave us Energon Downshift's weapons with Slicer.
personally, I would love a remake of the energon combiners, keep them the same size, same aesthetics, but no clear plastic, use the PCC limb connectors to make it more stable and easier to take apart
With how many gimmicks were essential to the series making new versions of even only the main cast of Energon in suitable mainline scales is likely not a viable option.
However I could see them managing to make most of them in Core class.
If combining is the issue that’s keeping them from fully diving into the Energon stuff at full size, none of the Decepticons or Omnibots need to combine, so they should do those.
Energon was my 1st Transformers cartoon, and the series that got me into the entire franchise! I even use to have a Rodimus figure from that continuity! Besides Rodimus, characters like Ironhide, Scorpanok, and Alpha were interesting in my opinion. But if I had to make some improvements, I would've liked:
- Kicker Jones (the 1st human character I saw) to have a more well improved character Arc, and be similar to either Setsuna from Gundam 00 or Rock from Black Lagoon.
- Starscream to regain the memories of his old life just like what Dinobot II did in Beast Wars, and meet his end in the same memorable fashion as his Armada counterpart did.
- the Powerlinx gimmick to be similar to how Optimus combined with Ultra Magnus from RID 2001 & Jetfire from Armada and Revenge of the Fallen.
They could use Shard's engineering and parts of the torso for Energon Bulkhead.

Yes yes yes yes yes I've wanted Core Series Airrazor to get reused, I wanted it so Filch would be less bulky and a fun conversion,
I honestly think the main reason is just because they want to make sure that the combiner gimmick is still represented. Though it's only the Autobots who could combine. There are other characters from that series they could still do who aren't combiners. Megatron should have gotten a bigger figure because that is one of my favorite Galvatron designs. It updates the look from just being a big cannon to having a really cool jet mode while still being a homage to G1 Galvatron. I also like how they basically made Megatron G1 Toy colors while Galvatron is G1 Cartoon colors.
And I actually think Energon is a much better series than Armada... granted I have completely ignore that it's a sequel to get any enjoyment out of Energon at all. It's confusing how the Decepticons start the series still in their Armada bodies and we get on screen explinations for their new forms but the Autobots just sort of already have their Energon bodies with no explanation of how they got those upgrades. It'd be nice if getting a Spark of Combination is what caused their upgrades to happen but Wing Dagger to Wing Saber is literally the only Autobot who actually gets upgraded that way and he wasn't even in Armada. It also confused the Hell out of me when a bunch of characters kept referencing Megatron's sword and recognizing that this sword belonged to Megatron, a sword which he never had during Armada and is exclusively a part of his Energon upgraded form, how does everyone know it's his sword before anyone has ever seen him use it? To make this even worse, like half the cast didn't even exist during Armada making it even less likely that they would recognize a specific weapon of his that he never used. Like even kicker sees the sword and recognizes it belonged to Megatron. So a kid who wasn't born yet is able to identify a sword that didn't exist yet.
Oh and then there's the fact that Megatron sacrificed his own life in order to defeat Unicron and then spends all of Energon trying to revive Unicron. And this is why I have to completely ignore that Energon is meant to be a sequel to Armada because as a sequel it's absolute trash and fails on every level to follow it's own continuity, but as a stand alone series completely detached from what came before, it's not that bad.
Armada is the worst series but is still getting some love despite it's many MANY flaws. Armada has exactly ONE good episode in the entire series and that's Past. I forget if it's part 1 or part 2. You don't need to see both parts because they both tell the exact same story without adding anything new to it. Either way you're going to see the backstory between Hot Shot and Wheeljack. Though one of the episodes also provides some back story for Blurr and Side Swipe. The other episode includes an uninteresting B plot and a worse version of the Hot Shot/Wheeljack backstory. I think it's part 2 that is the better version but it's been a while since I seen it. I just remember questioning why I sat there watching the exact same story twice but with a different B plot. And Armada Blurr is one of my favorite characters so seeing his back story as the B plot was way more interesting to me than whatever the story was in the other episode. Hot Shot and Wheeljack's back story is the more interesting one, that's the A Plot for sure but as far as the B plot goes I'd rather watch Blurr's back story than a B Plot I can't even remember.
If any series should be the forgotten child it should be Armada. And I think they have to give us some Energon representation if we're going to get Nexus Prime later.
Yeah there are other figures that have visible head syndrome but I can't think of any that are quite as Bad as Ironhide. Armada Megatron at least covers up his face even though that's clearly his head right there at the front of the Tank. Prime Megatron is a Cybertronian vehicle so it's not as important for the head to not be visible. X-Brawn's head is visible in his vehicle mode and the show even make it into a joke that his head ends up in the driver's seat position. Ironhide's head isn't even trying to hide away, it's just there. Also there is room where his head could hide away, the only reason it doesn't is because of the electronics feature on that toy which is why he has all that giant equipment mounted behind his head because that's where all the electronics where built into. And all the other voyagers in that toy line... or rather Megas at the time, I don't think they were called Voyagers yet, they all did a much better job at hiding their electronics and their robot heads. They just got really lazy with Ironhide for some reason when every other figure with the same gimmicks did it better.
Also quick side note... why does the leaked listing show Deluxe Micronus? Shouldn't he be a legends class since he's the smallest of the Primes and the first Mini-con? Wouldn't a Deluxe class Micronus make him out of scale with the other Primes? I've personally never really cared that much about scale anyway and kind of wish there were always Deluxe versions of every character as that's my preferred size class but it just seems weird to me when Hasbro has been making more of an effort lately to make characters in scales that make sense to randomly have a Deluxe Mini-Con. We've only ever had 2 Mini-cons sold in that size class, one was an up-scaled High Wire from Energon and the other was a Combiner team that was deluxe size in combined mode. Is Micronus going to come with weapon accessories for other figures or something to justify having a Mini-con at deluxe price or is he just going to be a really big Mini-con?
Energon Prowl could also be retooled into slapdash, which I would be SO down for
Slapdash is my favorite power master and power masters are the best g1 ‘master’ gimic in my opinion
A better voyager energon Megatron would be awesome and a repaint of it as galvatron would be awesome
Idea: make the Energon Autobots into Weaponizers.
That'd be interesting to see (just not sure if the current team has the -balls of chrome steel- to let bots with G1-heavy names (Prowl vs Checkpoint, Inferno vs Roadblock, etc.) do that for mainline Generations as a lot of these guys are still Gen X/original G1 fans - but that'd be fun and funny to see
12:27 so regarding these toys, I recently was in Miami and went to a target there. They were everywhere there as well, and Miami is a huge city. I don't know if it was just that neighbourhood or what but yeah, they seem to be shelfwarming

Ironic that the series for the Transformers 20th anniversary which means it was loaded with designs heavily influenced by the G1 aesthetic, is getting neglected for the 40th anniversary toyline loaded with designs heavily influenced by the G1 aesthetic
I can see a future where hasbro does powerlink as a line wide gimmick after the new prime toyline, with an energon optimus as a commander, wing saber as a leader, maybe even Omega supreme as a Titan Class
Energon Optimus must be adapted due to the Fatimus allegations. Wing Saber is a unanimous yes for being so cool. With Omega Supreme I'd like them incorporate the crescent wings somehow in the Energon design for making him stand out.
I would definitely like to see some Energon toys get new versions, though I'd be happy to jettison the powerlinx gimmick in favor of just solid toys. Ironhide, Starscream, a bigger Megatron, and Optimus would be my most desired, though I'd also really love a Snowcat and Rodimus. (Though dang if I a new Towline wouldn't be awesome)
Tow-Line would make a great mold-mate w/ EarthSpark Hashtag… preferably if she was the one being prioritized.
I'd love to get an updated rodimus. It would be great to see what the design could be like/have without having to sacrifice for the powerlinx gimmick.

I think the big thing with energon is how many toys were combiners, at least for the autobots. Makes it difficult to reproduce I imagine, especially if you want the universal combining like the OG toy line.
As much as I love that Energon Tidal Wave and could see the easy repaint release for it using the upcoming Armada Titan...he's not the biggest they could possibly make LOL. One fantastic reason to venture into Energon would be to secure a future Titan Class release in this line's version of Omega Supreme/Omega Sentinel. This would also mean the advent of a new Fatimus Prime and Wing Saber by extension. As far as the basic-sized figures of the line, for me, I'd be cool with just getting the Rodimus/Prowl combo.

Energon kinda was represented a few years ago in cloud if i remember correctly by Ironhide who was repainted from Roadbuster.
Personally, I just want a new Energon Rodimus, Snowcat and Galvatron. They're really the only toys from that line that I want updates of.
I love all three parts of Unicron trilogy. I love Energon for the completely off the wall amount of combiner gimmicks. Sure having many modes meant that at least one of them would suffer, but the playability factor is great, and I really wish Hasbro would do beast wars style releases of some of them.

The siege/Earthrise Ironhide mould couldve been EASILY turned into a Snowcat, with minimal retooling. Different head and detachable back gun thing.

Honestly the show wasnt that bad, not perfect but still entertaining. I really liked the power linx gimmick but i think its one of those that would either have to be a full line or subline to be viable.
I would like a new Rodimus from Energon especially since my original is starting to slowly break just due to age :(
Another issue that making new Energon figures is, as you said, in order to incorporate the powerlinx gimmick, it would have to be a whole line devoted to it, and that line would be fully Autobots; the Decepticons notably do not posses the ability to Powerlinx, so the line could only be Autobots, which they don't usually do.
I wish they'd made a Core Thrust for the Beast Machines representation. No, he's not a big name like Cheetor, but if your hope of targeting kids who really liked Cyberverse, Kingdom, and ROTB, they're not gonna be excited for a Core Cheetor, especially one that is "kinda weird looking".
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the most popular characters in Beast Machines were the vehicons, and which vehicon fits core class best? Thrust. He would scale really well with T30 Tankor, cheap and easy to army build, very simple transformation with not a lot of parts required, and motorcycles have universal appeal towards kids. The only issue I can see with him is he can't stand up, but we've seen them do core motorcycles before with the bike sisters from ROTF, and all of those got stands that doubled as combine-mode parts. The core Cheetor is going to sell only because Beast Machines fans feel obligated to support their favorite series. A Core Thrust would cast a much wider net.
It's somewhat surprising that CW Optimus never got an Energon repaint given that his combiner mode was a direct homage to Energon Optimus, particularly keeping in mind that the same line redid their Leader megatron as a very forced Armada homage, and that they did do another go with the optimus mold as a random white and grey version for no reason.
I've also noted before that it's a shame that neither 1st nor 3rd party ever did the Prime Force, either upgraded to full CW style figures, or just as straight vehicle to combiner limb figures, or a Wing Saber who could transform in CW limbs.

If we ever get Armada Demolisher then they could do the Energon recolor of it, dipping toes in the water for a regular size class Energon figure without having to break the bank on any new tooling, plus it has the G1 Constructicon colors to appeal to people who like the green and purple.
For energon at two characters are pretty much going to happen and one’s or maybe the two ones that are pretty much going to happen are two of the three combiners from that series Brutus maximus and superior maximus because of Nexus prime if Hasper’s going to do the 13 primes, they’ll have to do him and considering that his original toy was a Brutus toy with a new head with two limbs from superior and considering that toy line combiners are literally just three molds. it seems like a good way to give this part of the phi some love as little effort and the other character that’s a maybe it’s snow cat but more likely as a G.I collaboration because the original toy is already a Joe tribute, and was even recolored as a tribute to another sub line of Joe
A part of me wonders if its a product of Hasbro trying to avoid confusion with their new energon universe by skybound. If the sdcc listing is anything to build off, they may be ramping up to make more toys for that continuity and because of that they may be reluctant to fill the market with other toys marked "energon universe" that refer to a completely different corner of the franchise.

Energon was far from perfect, I also loved Cybertron way more, but it had pretty amazing toys in the line, most that I owned back then, I still have the Combiners Superion Maximus, Bruticus Maximus and Constructicon Maximus. And the toys matched perfectly with the cartoon, which is a win in my opinion. Maybe at some point, we'll get some of those down the line, we will see.
A mini-con multipack is something i want. Galvatron is coming out later this year, Wheeljack and Red Alert next year. That makes a possible 8 pack. I dont know why an original version of Jolt was included with Powerlinx Hot Shot. Hopefully Powerlinx Jolt is in a mini-con pack. Not enough Energon representation in the anniversary year. At least we have Core Megatron which is one of my 2 favourite 2024 Core figures. Galvatron is rumored for later this year, I just hope Hasbro will produce a Core Energon Prime in the style of last years Prime and Bumblebee 2 pack.
An energon snowcat and demolishor would be nice they doing the constructicons again they could repaint one of the dump trucks or do armada cyclonus and demolishor and repaint them in energon colors they had cool energon repaints
I know they won't but I think it would be cool if they did a bunch of energon figures all in core class. Including optimus, his trailer, and drones. They could release him like that core Optimus and bumblebee combo. A tiny omega supreme! Come on!
as stated in the video and also in a previous comment of mine, I believe that yes, they are worried about how well energon would sell given its reputation, and released the core class megatron to test the waters. if you want more energon, go buy megatron and show hasbro that you want it. otherwise, they'll count it as a failure and likely not give us more

Energon definitely isn't my jam as a show. I was like 3-6 years old during it's time, but even to this day I think that it was a great toyline. I really don't comment on, well, anything really. Thank you for highlighting a toyline I've always enjoyed, but have understood how bleh the show was 🤙🤙
I believe they have hit a bump in trying to figure out how to do the Powerlink thing since that is a major part of Energon. They probably have some prototype designs, but they are not powerlinking in a way that can lead to minimal damage and maximum play. probably trying to make it where they can all also be interchangeable and usable.

Yeah, I kinda get that the overall fandom response to Energon is rather negative, so I can understand why it's such a risk. When most people think of Energon, they think of the infamously bad show, or a few specific bad toys from the line which were the exceptions to the rule, so it makes sense why Hasbro wouldn't see Energon as particularly profitable.
But even besides that, I think the Powerlinx gimmick also hurts it through the perspective of the gimmicks not being self-contained, requiring a second figure, so in order to get it to work on shelves, they'd need to hammer out a few Energon characters a wave for the gimmick to work, and given how notoriously bad distribution has been the past few years, that could be a problem. Alternatively, make them a two-pack, but that definitely has it's own risks as well.
You can say "Oh, the Decepticons and Omnibots didn't need to combine so they could do those", and while that's true, that ignores several very very prominent characters from the series (Ironhide, Inferno, Hot Shot, Jetfire, etc.) which makes it even more of a stretch. I'd love to see some love for Energon, even if I am a MASSIVE Cybertron c0cksuck3r myself, but I'm realistic enough to understand why Hasbro is reluctant to do it
I'd honestly argue that if the powerlink gimmick is the biggest issue, then maybe it'd be better to have a single pair to represent the gimmick while all the other characters get to focus on being the best vehicle/robot they can be. My vote going to Jetfire and Ironhide as the representatives for powerlinking due to their larger size allowing for more complexity
Bulkhead was the one with the green chopper and blue walker, right? I'd love to see a retry of that one with modern engineering.

i feel they (*almost) completely left out energon from the anniversary celebration series legacy was supposed to be... which kinda hurts for me being one who grew up with energon
I grew up on robots in disguise 2015, and I want that generations strong arm.
Honestly the only thing I liked about Energon was when Optimus and Omega Supreme powerlinked to fight Galvatron.
Robbed by the Hasbro dub. The Superlink anime is at least finished and isn't missing whole episodes.
