- After a friend took a trip to Badminton Airfield and it looked so impressively long and smooth - I just had to have a go myself. Do we witness a near miss?

"This is why we do it." Spot on, Ben.
Really was a wow moment. Thanks for watching
Wow Badminton is lovely! It looked a lovely evening for a flight. Another corker mate - well done!
Thanks for watching mate! Slow reply from me huh. Tut tut!! Busy weekend!!
Superb as always with superb light. Good work getting Daisy to wear the head cam!
Ha yes...amazed she agreed! Yeah the lighting was unbeatable
Greetings from a microlight pilot/owner from germany - love the beautiful landscape there 😎🤙🏻
Hi! What kind of plane do you own and fly? D-M...? 😉
@@ForFunFlyer sure, D-M... and the rest you can see on my channel video where i was flying to EDWF 😉😀
@@PascalFrankfurtM Ah cool, also an aviation RUclipsr? 😉 Me too! I used to own and fly D-MOTT and took flight training on D-MNOW and D-MWPK, also at EDWF! 👍🏻 Now, I own a Dutch registred TL-96 with reg PH-3G2, all shared on my channel too! 😎
@@ForFunFlyer just sharing some flights which i have done with my beautiful Z602 😀
Learned on a C42b and 3 month after getting my licence i bought my(our) plane 😁
@@PascalFrankfurtM Ah, roger! Nice! 👍🏻 If you're interested, have a quick peek at my channel, perhaps you like mine too? 😉
Lovely airfield - I used to skydive there back in the 80s.
Awesome Ben, your videos just keep getting better and better, this was such a beautiful evening for a flight too!
Means a lot joe thanks buddy. Hope you had a good weekend
Nice one mate👍 I see Daisy let you borrow the A20s on the way back 🤣
Ha yes...couldn't believe my luck haha! Thanks for watching and commenting mate
Very special sunset flight. Great shot of Daisy filming it from her phone! I was very impressed when I have flown in there. Very smooth and no 'hill' landing. I have promised Karen that I will fly her in there for the Badminton Horse Trials which takes place in early May but of course was cancelled this year. (the weather was perfect on the days they would have been there) A very nice edit Ben, well done!
Sorry for the delay in reply Tim! What a wonderful weekend it’s been. Ahh yes, well let’s hope we can do that next year, we’ll fly in too if you go! Thanks very much 👍
Another wonderful video Ben, you definitely getting the hours in .. look forward to many more. The conditions and the sunset.. 😎😎👍🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬
Thanks Ranbir. It was perfect!
Mk1 eyeball (as my instructor always said). Always nice flying along. Thanks for the video.
Pleasure. Thank you for watching!
beautiful sunset, what a privilege to fly on a night like that.
It really was Michael - felt very lucky. Thanks for watching
Well, thanks to you, I’ve made enquiries with the BMAA about revalidating my NPPL(M). My son wants to come flying with me and I’m missing the buzz. He was only 3yr old the last time I flew. Just need to get this pandemic and my knee op next week out of the way before booking some lessons. 👍
Ah mate!! That’s awesome. I’m chuffed!! Let me know how you get on and thanks for watching 👍
Love your videos Ben. Keep them coming
Thanks so much!!👍
Stunning video Ben . Fly safe and stay healthy .
Thanks David! Glad you enjoyed it - stay well
Beautiful sunset Ben, nicely captured by Daisy. I’m not jealous ...
Ha cheers Jed. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy!
Brilliant as ever Ben, can't beat those sunset flights, nice one. Out of interest do you know what the G limits on that aircraft are?? Really loving these flights of yours, like I'm there with you, never tire of a gentle flight over the English countryside......(side note, I managed to get airborne this week, weather not great but managed cake at Compton Abbas and then a beautiful flight over Poole, along the Solent and back home to WW....just the job!!).....
TheMissendenFlyer I think it’s a Skyranger Nynja, so it’s tested to +4 and -2 G.
@@DanSmithBK Seems usable!
Heeey thanks for watching again mate! Yeh plus 4 minus 2...more than enough! Ahh glad you got airborne. Compton cake is a crowd pleaser isn’t it! Thanks for the kind comments - dead chuffed you enjoy them!
Just watching this one Ben, hope all is well with you! Fun fact, Badminton airfield / house is where they filmed the Battle of Britain scenes in the film Pearl Harbour 😂
Great Video Ben!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Thanks Ben, I have only just kicked of my Videos after COVID. If you could check my latest and give some feedback on content it would be greatly appreciated. ruclips.net/video/fII7-0V0qrQ/видео.html
Loved the video as always! Really nice sunset too - reminds me of a near miss when I was up in the ikarus, head nothing on the radio but saw soon an Eurostar go right under us!
Thanks dude!! Ahh yeh. It happens . Lookout lookout look out!
What an amazing sunset flight. Kemble always seems to be very quiet in the evenings. Thanks to your fantastic series I have booked in my first lesson tomorrow night in the skyranger, let’s hope the weather is as good as your video!
Ahhh hey Sam! Thanks so much for the comment. Amazing. I must have met you the other night. How did you get on? You’ll probably find flying takes up a lot of time but honestly, it’s worth it!
Hi Ben, no worries, keep the videos coming! Good to meet you the other night, you didn’t seem to be flying for long, where did you end up? My flight was incredible thanks, practiced basic manoeuvres and flew over my house which was great, beautiful evening for it. Very friendly members at the club too and David is a great instructor. Glad to finally be allowed to start my training!
It’s the best isn’t it! Unbeatable. The Skyrangers great for getting you using your feet. We only nipped into Bowldown briefly...to get that fix! No doubt you’ll be given PFL’s (fan-stops) there in future lessons! Catch you at the club
Nice one Ben. What a lovely time of the day to fly and film.
Yeh it was - just perfect to be honest. The best time of day for it on a day like that...Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Great video Ben. It’s been really interesting to watch how you’ve learnt post licence ( tighter circuits, thought process and decision making etc). I’ve just got current again after having not flown since September and forgotten how much I’d missed it!
Thank you SO much for this comment Tom. It's not something you notice so much with your own improvement but yeh I guess I have...I guess I should have. Thanks very much for watching
Great flight - my first flight since March coming up on Sunday - going to be revising your training videos as it’s four months since I flew and five since I did my only solo so far out in Spain - so frustrating I really hope I haven’t forgotten everything
Ahh thanks Martin. Glad you enjoyed watching this and yeh I did the same - used some of them as a bit of a reminder on how to fly 😂
Cool evening flying and you got to use the headset, what more do you want?
Haha! True. 10/10! Thanks man
I did some work experience on a Rockwell twin commander that landed here…with the gear up! Managed to get the gear down and land properly😂
Fantastic flight Ben thanks for sharing. Lovely weather and views. Have you ever done esses and flown back through your own prop wash?
Back in the day (1980s) a group of 2-3 aircraft/us used to fly in - and there were fly ins every year. As I say, you had some great people like Gary Numan et al flying in too - lovely guy, great musician. I think I may know the reason why PPR is tighter than it used to be, but it's not for mentioning here.
Ahh very good. Superb. What a story. I have flown thru prop wash when doing a 360 turn and my god you know about it haha
@@BenAtkinsonVideos Thanks - there's more to that story, but not for here. Not sure what that manoeuvre is called, but it takes some effort, evidently, to keep the plane stable. Sounds like it from what you say LOL!
That evening sun, is another wow moment. That airfield looked quite busy with no radio transmissions. What were the notifications that flashed up on your phone, a blue one and a yellow one?
Yeh really was!! So the first was a gliding site to the north and the second a restricted area which contains Prince Charles’s house ha! Thanks for watching mate
Great work as usual
I managed to resume training last week which was amazing !!!
Also got to try out my Bose X for the first time ..... now i know why Daisy never wants to give them back Lol
Oh amazing. Good fun? Hahaah yes...me too
I haven’t landed at badminton but on my trial flight in G-CEFZ we did a practice approach there
My mate tells me that he's done slip training there in the C42 G-KFCA.
Oh niiiiice! Perfect place for it - with permission of course ha!
@@BenAtkinsonVideos Not sure if there any landings there and no one inhaled! LOL!
Scenic flights don't come much better. Great footage. At one point you comment, "They have landed jets here." Not Badminton, surely??
Thanks so much John! Appreciate that. Yeh apparently someone took a Citation in for the horse trails.
Nothing like a flight in the golden hour. Lovely video again Ben really enjoyed it.
The planes you fly I take it they are all a part of the club or are they shares? Its just you seem to have them out for fairly large chunks of time.
Keep them coming 👍
Ahhhhhhh dude! So good to meet you today. Thanks for commenting and watching. The club owns all three aircraft and there’s a booking system. I think there’s about 40 pilot members who hire them plus students learning so there’s a good mix. I’m probably one of the more regular fliers. Ps I’ve sent nick some pics and vids from today 👍👍👍
@@BenAtkinsonVideos I've just been watching them, thanks for doing that. It was really great meeting up with you and Daisy We had an unusually early night after the rattling we experienced on the way back. Chalton Park is just spectacular isn't it, even if a little breezy.
The Orange God Of The Skies oh no! Hope it wasn’t too bad. Maybe stick to early morning and late evening flights then on hot days, I’d be the same 😂😬 great time meet you both. Looking forward to the next time
I'm trying to do a FREDA here... 😂
Nice one Ben, great video, I need to do a sunset flight, out of curiosity what time did you fly?
Landed at sunset pretty much - which back 3 weeks ago was half 9! Yeh you gotta do it
Brilliant flight, mate! 👌🏻 Badminton looks like a nice and long runway... 👍🏻 Is that the place where they invented that racket sport? 😋
Yes! Apparently it was first played there in 1873. Good question! thanks for watching Jolmer, hope you had a superb weekend !
@@BenAtkinsonVideos Ah 👍🏻 Yes, my weekend was good. How about yours? Did you do some flying and vlogging for the next episode? 😉
ForFunFlyer I’m glad to hear it! Yeeeeh! A little bit. Working on something with the BMAA (British microlight aircraft association ) so hopefully that will come off good
@@BenAtkinsonVideos Looking forward to it! 👍🏻 And uhm, when are you flying over to the Netherlands? 🤔😋
Ben, you going to do any longer trips, maybe up to Scotland?
Awesome video Ben! ✈️ it’s what flying is all about. I’ve just purchased some SEHT headphones, those exact ones in fact. What are they like when in use?
I really like them! If you’re using them al day they become a little uncomfortable (but I do have a huge head lol) I really rate them.
That makes two of us then! Thanks for your response. Looking forward to more content ✈️
Typo alert! "... doesn't like you flying *passed* her windows"?
They used to have a lovely air show cum fly-in at Badminton, which stopped one year and never restarted. My late father-in-law used to loop himself silly in a glider as part of the show.
Yeh you're right!! But hey - what's done is done. Annoying after 4 hours in the edit to let that slip thru. Yeh I heard - not too keen on having many aircraft around now apparently. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
👍🏼
Ben please tell me it wasn’t anyone from Kemble that crashed today near Swindon. Hope whoever it was is ok.
all seems ok from Kemble - as far as I know.
Ben Atkinson That’s good to hear. As soon as I saw it I thought of you and was hoping it wasn’t you our anyone at Kemble.
What plane do you prefer to fly at kemble? I went up in G-KFCA with David loved it want to go again.
is there always a high workload up there or is there time to relax and enjoy it?
No there’s definitely time to relax and enjoy it! For sure! I edit my flights fairly tightly, so a lot of “boring” to the viewer stuff is chopped, some of which is us just enjoying the views
@@BenAtkinsonVideos Thanks Ben.
