He's not going to say what his vision is so that the interviewers and those watching don't automatically assume those are all the reasons why he was fired. The question was an end around because they didn't get the answer they wanted originally.
Ryan grubb in one year had geno smith 4th in passing yards this season. Seahawks offense isn’t exactly full of weapons so I would say he was trending upwards. He’ll be great as the cowboys next OC
I’m torn because I understand why we fired Grubb but tbh I didn’t mind him, and we can’t blame all of the run struggles on him, I feel like we could’ve given him one more year to get it figured out but who knows
I like coach Mac, think he did a really solid job in year one. But that was easily his worst interview as a Seahawk. Answer the questions plainly or just decline to take the interview/postpone until you’ve had time to think about what you want to say.
Come on Hurd! Everyone knows why Grubb got fired the morning after the season ended! What do you expect the coach to say to you? He’s going to sound as professional as he can. I think it’s silly to ask him the questions that you did.
Okay but who was calling the plays? I thought it was Mike. But if it wasn’t, then Mike and Ryan need to be on the same page regarding the offense. And if they weren’t communicating, that’s Mike’s fault. Not Ryan’s. The Seahawks had a 10 win season, and they tied with LA for the top spot. That’s very acceptable for a first year head coach in the NFL. Bottom line for me: If Ryan deserved to be fired, so does Mike. This smacks of desperation and short term thinking by Mike.
I wasn't a big fan of ryan scrub being the OC in the first place. it just felt like something that was expected in the offseason when looking for coordinators. I was convinced he just spun a wheel with random plays on it 😂
If we're canning Grubb I want to see Jay Harbaugh GONE, his special teams were absolute garbage, far worse than Grubb did as the OC, if he is kept around that will say a lot about who Macdonald is as a coach.
Its interesting people who really dont understand football like think they do and they sit and criticize the professionals who do . All the professional Madden players and Middle school football stars.
Have you watched this season. I count 3 games minimum where we would have lost the game if it weren't for the defense. There were glimpses but really not enough

Not sure if firing Grubb was a strong decision. Most of this comes down to less than mediocre offensive line play for a decade now. GM has to do something about it.
I thought Grubb called a good game..Better than the run, run, get sacked , punt like Pete Carroll's offense. It was Geno Smith who blew it on games they should have won.He didn't execute when he needed to.He also should have started Charbonnet instead of Walker.A long time ago.
Seriously, Man, if Mike wants Seahawks to runs the ball, he got a lot of work to do. First is your offensive tackle line is no as good, so as defensive line. You can’t win a Super Bowl by running the ball, you need to have a good WR to mix with Metcaft and JSN. Second, keep Smith for at least 2 more years before you draft a new youngster QB.
I'm not sold on MacDonald. He's probably an elite defensive mind, but not sure about his ability to lead men. He basically had a nervous breakdown here trying to explain what he's looking for in an offense. And I get it, I'm not a fan of conflict either. I hate letting friends and colleagues down, but you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
I don't think he was having a nervous breakdown. I think he didn't want to publicly air out what he's looking for and then everyone saying, "Grubb wanted the complete opposite". There are different ways to win offensively, and Grubb could be a fit somewhere else. Publicly airing specifics could negatively affect Grubb's opportunities. Macdonald isn't a leader of men because he won't give details to the media/the world? Yeah okay 😂 There's a coach out there specifically known for not giving any concrete info/vision to media/public that has a few SB wins. So if it's that coach 2.0 here with Macdonald, I'll take it 😂
He could have learned something from Pete Carroll to help him become a more complete coach. IMO he should have been hire as the defensive coordinator and in a few years maybe givin an opportunity. We lost to the Giants for crying out loud a team that had no business being in a game with us or anybody really. We dominated them last year in their house 24-3.
Dude he just led a flawed team to a 10-7 record in his first head coaching job ever at any level let alone the NFL. One more than a hall of fame coach. If you can’t see the potential he has if we give him the right pieces i don’t know what to tell you my friend
@@alexgrandii2870 Mac did well for his rookie season as a head coach but 1.Our division is weaker then it's been in many many years. A Pete Carroll lead team probably goes undefeated through the division 2. We lost to the Giants the worst team in the league. 3. We almost lost to the Jets, Bears, and Patriots. That should have been 10 wins right there then Miami without Tua and an Atlanta team that was ok should have been 12. Not at all like the gauntlet we had to run through last year in the AFC North which is still the best division. They'll run the ball and have gnarly defenses our Achilles. The Lions and Viks are really good but as far as the NFC North goes it's all smoke and mirrors as they matched up with the 2 most pathetic divisions in the NFC West and AFC South and smoked them. 4. How bout the o-line line coach, ?, you need to develop these young guys, and quit flopping them In and out of play, trying to figure them out, a good o-line is unity, and continuity, they play better as a solid unit, knowing what each player or the guy next to him , is gonna do, rather than a mix and match, which We have been witnessing the last 5 years,🤐
You picked the wrong fall guy McDonald. Schneider needs to go and you need to be grounded. You made the record books this year in the wrong way by giving up a perfect game to a quarterback that speaks volumes
Well, the line might improve if the defense isn't certain about what's coming; everyone was saying the defenses knew what was coming before the snap on every play and that made it much easier for them.
If you can execute properly it doesn’t matter if the defense knows what is coming - we just COULD NOT get any consistent OL play, except BAD OL play. Defenders were CONSTANTLY in the backfield on both running and passing downs. PFF says our QB was under pressure 40% of the time while passing! We ranked 30th out of 32 TEAMS in OL play. Add in the ridiculous amount of motion/shift/offside penalties so you started with long field. A recipe for trouble. And just what play do you call when you can’t pass-block and you can’t run block guys?
I really like Mike but this was a foolish move on his part, especially after only one year. Grubb helps you to 10 wins, you got no OL push in order to run it, Geno throws 8 red zone INT's but Grubb is the problem? Nah man. Grubb had no problem running the ball at UDub, he only chose to pass a little bit more because he had MICHAEL PENIX.
Grubb had Talent at UW. Most OC look good with a bunch of talent to coach. Grubs formations and play calling were predictable at the NFL level. The talent level wasn't there to bail him out. Saying all the picks are on Geno could be only partially true depending on the play calling.
Lol Geno has led most passers this year in 3 major passing stats hes top 3 and he was amazing last night get used to Geno mhm he will def be back yuppers
And replace him with who? He’s better than anyone available in the free agent market and draft. The O-line is the problem. They don’t give time for plays to develop and they don’t allow any sort of a run game. Wasting a pick on a QB would be retarded this year
Absolutely moronic. The QB broke franchise records and we had 10 wins. Offense wasn't the problem. The GM wont invest in an OL. I'm done with the Seahawks. I'll go be a Falcons fan.
I get husky fans that are upset by this but reality is, Grubb deserves it. The lack of a run game (no its not only because of the o line), the amount of presnap penalties due to illegal motions and what not, and the inability to adjust your gameplan to your personnel was tragic. He earned this firing.

@@jake25636100% if he just called out grub then it wouldn’t be fair to him
MM doesn't dish out behind closed doors intel and respects privacy. Plus saying the whole vision for other teams to notice and shut down is bad as well.
He's not going to say what his vision is so that the interviewers and those watching don't automatically assume those are all the reasons why he was fired. The question was an end around because they didn't get the answer they wanted originally.
How many times did he say "we need to run the ball more." His vision was pretty clear, he is from the Harbaugh tree. He wan't to run first to pass.
We didn’t see eye to eye on the direction of the offense.
What identity do you want to see on offense then?
Then just deflects lol
he just wanted us to run the ball more
Ryan grubb in one year had geno smith 4th in passing yards this season.
Seemed pretty plain to me. Maybe you have a problem with speaking comprehension
@@nightburrito9283 Just because you are simple minded does not mean that everyone else is,
@@charlesd6060 I think you missed the point. Who's the simple minded one again?
He explained it GRUBB plainly
That's all that matters
Coach sounded like he has no vision for the offense
Why because he doesn't explain it to these two laymes? lmfao
PLAY TOUGH DEFENCE RUN THE FOOTBALL SPRINKLE IN THE PASS "CREATE TURNOVERS ON D"
Come on Hurd! Everyone knows why Grubb got fired the morning after the season ended! What do you expect the coach to say to you? He’s going to sound as professional as he can. I think it’s silly to ask him the questions that you did.
Agreed these two laymes lmfao
Okay but who was calling the plays? I thought it was Mike. But if it wasn’t, then Mike and Ryan need to be on the same page regarding the offense. And if they weren’t communicating, that’s Mike’s fault. Not Ryan’s.
The Seahawks had a 10 win season, and they tied with LA for the top spot. That’s very acceptable for a first year head coach in the NFL.
Bottom line for me: If Ryan deserved to be fired, so does Mike. This smacks of desperation and short term thinking by Mike.
Time to blame and fingers . Someone please whisper into Jody Allen ears John Schneider
nO-line killed the chances for a 13-4 season. 💙💚
I wasn't a big fan of ryan scrub being the OC in the first place. it just felt like something that was expected in the offseason when looking for coordinators. I was convinced he just spun a wheel with random plays on it 😂
John Schneider need too go also!!
If we're canning Grubb I want to see Jay Harbaugh GONE, his special teams were absolute garbage, far worse than Grubb did as the OC, if he is kept around that will say a lot about who Macdonald is as a coach.
He basically has to keep him because he's a harbaugh
It's just how chit works
Its interesting people who really dont understand football like think they do and they sit and criticize the professionals who do . All the professional Madden players and Middle school football stars.
Mike Macdonald's offensive idea would have seen the Seahawks lose 3 to 4 more games this year. GRUBB kept this team from being 5 and 12
Have you watched this season. I count 3 games minimum where we would have lost the game if it weren't for the defense. There were glimpses but really not enough
Dude that's ridiculous
If they ran the ball like they should have all year they'd definitely be in the playoffs right now lmfao
Why does he agree to come on this show? There are literally zero long term advantages
@5:16- how about someone that doesn't call a screen pass to the running back every 3rd and 10-15
Who’s available to be the next OC
Fire Harbaugh
And then have ALL the harbaughs mad at you?
Lmfao
@Dreadeyeknight Exactly haha
Hopefully, Grubb can find a head coaching job in the NFL or, at least, a head coaching job at the college level.
Every time I listen to one of these Mike Macdonald interviews, I'm reminded of that Conan O'brien skit with with his employee Jordan about the coffee maker.

We may have to waste our whole draft on O-Lineman as it seems we haven't had a productive line since the 2015 era!
All of you saying Seahawks o line sucks so we can run the ball. What about the 49ers or Cardinals ?! And Walker has vastly more talent.

Not sure if firing Grubb was a strong decision. Most of this comes down to less than mediocre offensive line play for a decade now. GM has to do something about it.
Fire Grubb. THANK YOU LETS RUN THE COOTBALL
I thought Grubb called a good game..Better than the run, run, get sacked , punt like Pete Carroll's offense. It was Geno Smith who blew it on games they should have won.He didn't execute when he needed to.He also should have started Charbonnet instead of Walker.A long time ago.
Grubbs will be hired very quickley
THANK CHRIST
Seriously, Man, if Mike wants Seahawks to runs the ball, he got a lot of work to do. First is your offensive tackle line is no as good, so as defensive line. You can’t win a Super Bowl by running the ball, you need to have a good WR to mix with Metcaft and JSN. Second, keep Smith for at least 2 more years before you draft a new youngster QB.
Mark Brunell might be a good one
Mark brunel???? Whaaaa????

I just didn't know he was a coach
He's one of my favorite players actually
The questions he asking Coach 😂😂😂😂 man trying to dig some real stuff to talk about out of coach.
Thinking that to fix all the issues is to fire coaches is a hallmark of a bad organization.
So if it's that coach 2.0 here with Macdonald, I'll take it 😂
Watch any of his locker room speeches and tell me he isn’t a leader
4. Every quarterback that has played under Carroll has played his best football under Carroll Geno wasn't bad but probably plays just a little better especially in the turn over department. I feel very comfortable going forward with Mac I just didn't agree with the timing Jodie Allen could have bought both Mac to be our d coordinator and fellow Washingtonian Kellen Moore to run our offense with her vast wealth. That would have been really really smart
This none explanation has me extremely worried about Mikes future. He clearly has no clue about offense or play calling. He said “it wasn’t our vision”, but doesn’t appear to have one…
he's not going to fully answer that question when he has just let go a first year coach or had all the exit interviews with the players and other coaches...
@ Pete had no problem answering that question
@@itshadouken different circumstances...
@@brianmyers4444 how so? Pete went through a ton of o coordinators and never had a problem articulating his offensive vision.

Life is about timing. Grub will go to Bama and help get them to the playoff next year. Seahawks cannot run this because their OL sucks!
How bout the o-line line coach, ?, you need to develop these young guys, and quit flopping them
In and out of play, trying to figure them out, a good o-line is unity, and continuity, they play better as a solid unit, knowing what each player or the guy next to him , is gonna do, rather than a mix and match, which
We have been witnessing the last 5 years,🤐
You picked the wrong fall guy McDonald. Schneider needs to go and you need to be grounded. You made the record books this year in the wrong way by giving up a perfect game to a quarterback that speaks volumes
Good luck finding an OC that can work with this crappy O-line. Schneider should be fired and McDonald too if he thinks Grubb was the problem.
Well, the line might improve if the defense isn't certain about what's coming; everyone was saying the defenses knew what was coming before the snap on every play and that made it much easier for them.
Grubb was 100% a problem. Sorry you're upset the husky didn't work out
If you can execute properly it doesn’t matter if the defense knows what is coming - we just COULD NOT get any consistent OL play, except BAD OL play.
So DK gonna be gone .. because there’s no point to have a Top receiver if your not gonna throw him the ball !!
But why choose a o'clock from the huskies go get the oc from Ohio State buckeye's

You hire Jesus as OC and he won't be successful without a decent O Line.
Not sure coach did a very good job either.....
Schneider sucks and Jody sucks
Geno next please
Lol Geno has led most passers this year in 3 major passing stats hes top 3 and he was amazing last night get used to Geno mhm he will def be back yuppers
Next extension, yep.

Mike Macdonald is a awful coach also. guy cant even answer a question. mike why ur defense cant stop 3rd sting players? rams/NYG .
the D against the rams lost a starting DT and at least two corners...tough to be at your best...

So awkward lol
I get husky fans that are upset by this but reality is, Grubb deserves it. The lack of a run game (no its not only because of the o line), the amount of presnap penalties due to illegal motions and what not, and the inability to adjust your gameplan to your personnel was tragic. He earned this firing.
