This video was worth it’s weight in gold!
A good history lesson going to the Genesis of Roland sound development, and how it is applied (transferred/morphed,) today to Zenology. . I think there’s more value in knowledge here than meets the eye.
    Good job 👍

Enjoyed this very much. I just acquired Zenology Pro so that I can more easily program sounds for my newly acquired Fantom-0 (bit difficult to have the Fantom on your lap while you're watching TV). I never realised just how deep the Zen-Core world went. I'm not worried about authenticity as I'm programming for gigs - the audience doesn't care if it's an accurate Oberheim OB-Xa, just give them a zuzzy sawtooth wave and play the intro to Jump and everyone's happy. As for "belching into a jam jar", I can sample that on the Fantom 😂

I was a Roland authorized repair tech for over 35 years. Most of their keyboards were not at all intuitive or easy to find your way around. And the owners manuals were in a fractured form of English that made little sense. The JV-2080 module being an exception. Are Roland VST instruments fairly easy to quickly use and get a handle on?

Nice in-depth appreciate it . May I ask what controller keyboard your using. Keybed seems very noisy

Thanks for this informative video. The D50 was ahead of its time cack in the day. I still have mine. mixing 4 different sounds together is a super synth!
Now wonder why this architecture is still;; around today. Roland jeeps adding more partials and wave forms to the pot! how many thousands are there in Zenology Pro? Keep up the great work. Cheers!

When the Play 4 Life deal comes around, that makes it possible to get System-8 for life plus a year of all the other cloud perks for $99. I subscribed to Pro to get System-8 for life and Zenbeats max unlock for a year or two or three. I do like Zenbeats. Zenology Pro is not one of the synths available for a P4L lifetime key. When P4L is available, System-8 is in the Aira category... Legendary, SRX and Aira are the available categories in that deal as of mid 2022 unless it changes. Might have to download and install the free cloud to triple check what you can get with the P4L deal.

It looks like Roland may be loosening up a little and not requiring a membership to obtain the ability to purchase a Lifetime license, as I see (for example) sites like Sweetwater are offering what looks like the full array of licenses for Roland software instruments. They look like they run between 100 to 150 American dollars each, (although Zenology Pro runs $230), which is comparable to most soft synths these days. I'm like you, a big fan of the Duran Duran sound. I do like the idea of having the same tools at my fingers that Nick Rhodes had (as if that will give me his talent as well, lol). It is a shame that Roland doesn't offer a demo for each individual instrument, rather than having one month to try them all at once.

I have Zenology Pro running through Logic. I picked the D50 and XV synths as my two choices, but when I bring up their banks windows, they don’t function; I can’t change any patches from the banks windows. Any idea where I’m going wrong? Thanks.

Hi Mark, I am afraid, I don't know. I think you should message Roland support ;)

Hi hi-z : just one question regarding (at least) the drums part of zenology pro. When you load an instance in Reaper, does it offer separate channels for routing. Contemplating two options at this time : either a tb-8s that offers separate outputs through usb audio for post-processing in reaper, OR Zenology pro for the overall « Roland Sound », but especially drums machines.... thxs

To be honest, I didn't try multi-outs. I would assume it was there but I could be wrong. Probably the best thing is to Try the Roland Cloud thing to see how you feel about it. Otherwise, there are lots & LOTS of ways to do the TR-style drum thing. Incl the new TALDrum that I just spent time with (review will publish soon). :-)

is the fantom x 6 compatible with Zen Core

    • @higherhz
      @higherhz  2 года назад

I would have no idea TBH. Best to read up on the features etc of the Fantom x6 over at Roland. If that doesn't make it clear, ask in Roland/Fantom groups but I would expect Roland would say if it was.

So im a lil confused! So my question is; if i get access to a FREE ROLAND ACCOUNT its a 30 day trial basically,? even if i purchase a lifretime key for zenology analog icon bundle.. ?and part 2 to my question is... if i cancel my trail at day 29 do iose ALL ACCESS to my purchased product? Also i guess part 3 is,.. if i habe to conmect every 7 days is that just for the 30 day trial? Like a week goes by i gotta connect and 2 and so on,. Til day 30 and ill be charged? And part 4 sheesh sorry... is if i connect every 7 days and cancel it is that still free acount cuz i cancelled only the sunscription payment but didnt delete the roland accout so then is it just after 30 days if i cancel do i have to then with my lifetime key for specifically zenoology analog icon bundle, do i just have remember to conmect every 7days and not worry about an accidental payment? Like after 30 says is it just a free maintained account every 7 days meeds access but still free?

Developers: We created a sound editor for the the mc707 and other Roland zencore synths.
Roland Corp: Give it it a name, call it a software synth...and charge them 200.00!
The Xp series has in the synth engine something missing in ZENOLOGY - the 10 types of Structure. With Booster and Ring types that created some really nice subtle distortions. On my mc707 structure is a ring, sync and two xmods.
