I came to the Heart from PA on Thursday. We were on our way to Detroit to meet friends so we didn’t get to spend as much time as I would’ve liked. It was awesome!

I love the Heart. I am out west, so too far for me to travel. But I am watching your Whatnot!

Great video … I feel antiquing triggers memories , nostalgia and connection … today , my connection to the Heart - the cast iron trivet is from my town in Pennsylvania … Colebrookdale …

I’ve had it at the Heart of Ohio … delicious . We were so full from lunch , but did not want to miss the butterscotch pie . The cafe packed us a pie package including napkins and utensils so we could enjoy the pie later at our hotel . Customer service at the Heart is amazing including Moe ‘s Cafe . Looking forward to Octoberfest AND pie in October !

Great that you found someone to sort that major purchase of jewelry.

I am sorry you have to deal with so many negative people. You purchasing from the vendors only helps them. I would love to start a channel, but I don’t think I could be patient enough with the rude comments, lol

I haven't tried selling deeds or billheads or anything like that...I am a postcard and photos person mostly but I do know some stuff like that can be good in a Whatnot Ephemera show, depending what you paid for them.

08:26 Is the lady Catharine the Great? It's a young version if so. The land deeds are pretty awesome. Somewhere a geneaologist or five is drooling and saying "Lemme at 'em!". One said York county, Pennsylvania and you can bet somebody doing research on that area would be after them.

I don’t know about the deeds but I work with a genealogical society and that would be great to find an ancestor to sell to.

Can you give a little tutorial on Bakelite? What years was it made, why is it currently popular, most of the time pricey and how to identify it. Very much appreciated if you could do that for us beginners 🤗

THe brown and black date back to 1906-ish. The other colors are technically catalin although they're usually called bakelite too. WWII killed production, although bits were found and used in jewelry well into the 50s and even 60s. It was most popular for jewelry etc in the 1930s. There are some chemical tests that work on most colors, but not all (Black doesn't test at all, and red is iffy) but those of us who've been around it can usually eyeball it. Bakelite changes color as it ages, it'll oxidize, so anything pure white or clear isn't bakelite. One easy "tell" - bakelite couldn't be put in detailed molds. It would be made in tubes and sheets and then cut and carved to shape. Pinbacks and bracelet hardware was attached with screws and or rivets for the most part. Maybe glue, if a pin has its back replaced. There are lots of tutorials on line, and old dealers love to talk.

Do you guys own the cafe as well? Or is it contracted out?
