Sleeping 10+ hours can be useful if your body needs to heal from something. I.e. allergies or painful menstration. Often we may not know why we feel the need to sleep longer than usual but our body has it's reasons :)
@@kyletaylor1163 honestly you can't, I read an article recently which tells that every human has a different kind of circadian rhythm that tells what time of the day you'll be the most active...you can try to 'correct' your sleep cycle but it will turn back to its usual form after a few days, so don't fight yourself and let your body speak to you ☺️ have a happy life
I been sleeping alot of hours too around 10 to 12 hours. I find myself very sluggish after sleeping alot....To me it's a enjoyment to sleep all the time...I'm going to do more research on this topic
first time I've slept like 12 hours+ last night, I searched about it on youtube and your video showed up haha. Just to add more info, yesterday I wasn't sick, very little physical activity (did half of my workout because gym was too crowded) so that was a bit surprising. But one thing I notice is that I feel good, more calm than usual, less brain fog. In general, I am the type of person that needs 8hrs of sleep, anything less and I physically feel tired when waking up, strong brain fog etc so I 100% agree with your diminishing return point, 12 hours felt GREAT but it's not worth sacrificing all those valuable hours, as 8hrs is good enough to "perform" at a good level during the day. Maybe the 10hr+ nights is something I can do once a week.
I think sleep can be thought of being done intuitively. For instance, if I were to walk 6 trails, work a labor intensive job for 8 hrs, run 8 miles, and do a 2 hour arm workout all within a 24 hour window, 10-11 hours of sleep sure as heck wouldn't be too bad of an idea haha. Really just depends on lifestyle, but I agree at least 7 hour of sleep a night is pretty good.
I guess my body is made different. No matter how many hours I get I always have trouble falling asleep the next night and I have no sleep problems. Also I can sleep 10+ hours no problem without waking up. It takes me awhile to fall asleep but when I do I'm gone. I slept through earthquake one time. Anyway thx for vid
Some people are different so 10 hours may be beneficial in the short run. I slept for 10 hours for nearly a month and it was slowly weakening my sleep drive. Eventually I was developing insomnia and fragmented sleep. Going back to a straight 8 hours will take a long time and will require sleep restriction until my sleep is normal.
It depends on lifestyle if a person is actively going to the gym and training hard then 10 hours of sleep is the best to recover faster from workouts and gain faster but for an avg person who is not active 6-7+ hours is enough
Sleep is an interesting topic for me. Having mild autism spectrum disorder affects sleep in more ways than one (as do most neurological conditions, it seems). For me, "oversleeping" is typically never consecutive hours due to frequent unwanted nighttime awakenings. I am actually writing this comment as I am feeling the effects of oversleeping. For me, oversleeping makes me more sluggish, fatigued, and seems to worsen thought process more intensely than the times I've had full blown insomnia. By the time of me writing this comment I've been awake for nearly 6 hours and yet feel just as _zombified_ as I did when I woke up. In my case, the sleep drunkenness of oversleeping is a matter of waiting it out, even Caffeine seems to only do a fraction of benefit. 6-8 hours is what does it for me. 9+ hours makes me a zombie for the majority of morning.
This experiment is really interesting, Same l also felt very non-motivated if I sleep more than 8 hours, life feels really boring and most non-hardworking person if I sleep more than that hour. Sleep also feel very good and we look very forward to it if we sleep not more than those hours, also we should wake up early instead of waking up late so we should feel motivated instead of feeling most lazy person
@@dripsquidward7294 Fuck no, I've been doing it for years. Some people just need more sleep, and I went to my doctor and he always says im really healthy.
I need a lot of sleep myself being that I work hard and have a fairly active lifestyle. I utterly despise people who judge people for requiring more sleep.
Long sleep and fasting is a great way to fix addiction problems. Perhaps your lack of motivation was lack of over stimulation from adrenaline. For me, lack of sleep causes adrenaline overdrive which is very pleasant albeit not the healthiest way to live. Excess sleep puts me in a very balanced state of being. Perhaps a stoic state where nothing bothers me and it's easy to stay calm.
That's a great way to put it honestly. I do quite enjoy that stoic state. I find that my baseline is a pretty good mood and when I'm well rested, it's considerably harder to put me out of that good mood
I remember when i had a typhoid i was a 13 year old tht time i slept for three days continuesly didnt woke up in the middle nd i was feeling supercharged after 3 days of sleep.
How many hours do you think is normal for teens? I used to sleep only 4-6 hours daily during school but now it’s over and I can only sleep for 7 hours before waking up so how should I fix this?
I'm not an expert on sleep but here is some general advice: - Try to keep your room at a cool temperature (under 70F if possible) - Try your best to dim bright lighting and avoid looking at screens 1-2 hours before bed - Eat healthier - No caffeine in the afternoon or evening -Have a regular sleep schedule every day - Get blackout blinds so your room is as dark as possible. Hope this is helpful!!
Wake up every day on the same hour even in weekends. And if you have trouble falling asleep try to distract your brain by listening to a podcast. You can always put a timer on that makes it stop playing.
