I used to work for an auctioneer. When we did live auctions and there were tractors etc selling some people would purposely turn on the ignition and leave it like that. When we'd go to sell it it would be dead and then it would be harder to sell. Lots of people won't bid on what they can't see running. It was done to keep the price down due to less competition. I would bet that some dealer wants all of those Toyota's and doesn't want competition for them.
That makes sense
Makes a tonne of sense. Thank you for this information
@@johntron7986 Your welcome. There's a trick in everything. 😊
Crazy
@@MrAlvarez23 There's a trick in everything. The auctioneer had his ways of screwing the public and the public had it's ways of returning the favour. We eventually had to remove the keys from things until they came up to be sold.
About the Kona.....just a personal preference, but I absolutely HATE this trend of some auto makers putting the rear turn signals down in the bumper.
Greetings from South Africa.
That warning on the Infiniti, it's called the Master Warning Light. Shows for anything... You had your door open, that's why it was lit up.
Got a Q60S 3.7 Coupe and I was rather concerned the first time I hopped in my car and saw that 😊
The 2023 Kona has 2 transmission options. 1st is a 7 speed automatic and 2nd option is a cvt. I have a kia optima with a 6 speed dct and comparing them I believe that kona is a cvt.
The kia optima comes with a dual clutch?
You are right. Base model which that one is does have the CVT.
There's also the kona N that has the dsg
@@idwellinthehillslikegandhi yup 6 speed dual clutch transmission. Rides like a dream.
Randy: the 2023 Kona base model you drove is the 2.0L/147hp with a CVT. The uplevel models have a 1.6L/195hp Turbo with a 7 speed DCT. A friend traded his RAM on a Kona Turbo, and it is pretty quick. They also offer a Kona N with a 2.0L/276hp Turbo with an 8 speed DCT that is very quick. Nice cars.
In Europe , we don't have the 2.0L, but we have the 1.0L turbo with 120hp with 6 speed manual. Automatic is not an option with this powertrain. We have the 1.0 L mild hybrid with the same horsepower for more fuel efficiency, no automatic transmission. The 1.6 L has also a 6 speed as standard and the 7 speed as an expensive (+3000 euros) option. The 1,6L also come with 4 wheel drive, combined with the 7 speed DCT. The 1,6L also comes as a full hybrid; 141 HP with 6 speed DCT. The old one had a 1,6L turbo diesel engine with 136HP. It was the best seller with 50 mpg.. Diesel is much cheaper than gas in most European countries.. The Kona N is will be available in my country (Greece) in the near future..
@user-nb1sv4kn2x many of those vehicles with that type of transmission get that component from a German company: ZF Gear.
Kona N pretty cool looking. I have a 16 Soul 2.0 nat. Aspirated with 225k miles on it now and just general maintenance. Still going strong.
I had a Hyundai Kona as a rental car when by Buick was in the body shop I enjoyed driving it for three months
Randy, you are the reason that I have started pulling the hood release two or three times, even on my own vehicles. Ever since I started doing that, I haven't had to walk back around the car to repop the hood. Thank you, sir.
Most rental companies held cars until 60k during the pandemic and even in normal times they didn’t send them to auction with less than about 35k miles. So a rental going on the block with only 23k would make me suspicious. Also, the best used rentals are sold to dealers first, next from their own used car lots direct to the public and the least desirable go to the wholesale auction.
It's still under the bumper to bumper warranty period. Id take it
I don’t think pulling the handle twice is what is disturbing people! People are just normally disturbed!
Many rental car companies keep their 'best' ones and sell them at their own direct sales lots. The are likely to sell to auction those that have been significantly damaged by vandalism, in the body, are mechanical/tech dogs.
That’s what I was thinking also. But they may just be covered up with those Camrys and just trying to unload them instead of keep them on lot for 6 months trying to sell
Randy having to go to not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 different Toyota Camry's just to start and test drive one has got to be the best AAR moment of 2023
I drove an 89 toy p/u 20 yrs and put 225,000 mi when i sold it ,good vehicles overall.
@autoauctionrebuilds 13:40 I do the exact same thing. There’s nothing like pulling it and walking up to the hood and then having to walk back and pulling the hood release again. I’ve had that happen enough times to me where I just pull it 2 or 3 times lol
Those 3.0t infinitis are notorious for the turbos going out
I'd get the Avalon instead of the Infiniti, just because I HATE when cars have screens instead if buttons. If the Infiniti were older and had buttons, I'd probably choose it.
Remember infinite isn't reliable, durable, spacious or luxurious like the Toyota Avalon limited. All of the Seats are heated and cold Toyotas never fail
Hot take: reliability is better than sophistication
The triangle on the dash in the Q50 is for whenever a doors open nothing mechanical.
The triangle is the warning for the open drivers door it tells you in the square directly next to it on the right 👍🏻
Long Term I would take the Avalon, the Q50s with the 3.0 are known for blowing turbos but I would take an earlier 3.7 Q50 over the Avalon
_"Old school"_ as our eyes scan past the in-dash USB ports. :)
I would be into that Avalon. 83K miles on a Toyota is nothing assuming it's at least had it's oil changes...guarantee you'll love that Infiniti less when the turbo blows and it starts burning oil...it is a Nissan after all (at least it doesn't have a CVT). But I get it, if you're only keeping it for a short period you could have fun with that car
FYI, I actually own a 2020 Toyota Camry SE with 30k miles so I can tell you that it drives really well. It's got plenty of power from the 2.5L 4 cylinder engine and a 8 speed automatic transmission. I love my Camry and it starts every time...😊
I have a Toyota avalon touring 2022 and I love it.
Haha I love Toyota had a 97 rav4 with 262k had original spark plugs and wires and still ran pretty good
Thanks for showing these daily driver cars today. I could use them as a work car for 200000 miles and get another
The Q50 is just like my Altima and that triangle shows up when one of its doors or the trunk is open.
Excited for the new card you got! I’m surprised there is still that much new cars that come to auction every week! Keep it up randy!
that hyndai sounds like a cvt , you can tell from the sound , cvt have a super smooth engine load almost sounds like you are revving in neutral
Nice content Randy as always and, was away for a while but now am back.!!....Was laughing loud on you trying to find us a Camry....and your point about Toyota, being reliable and well built, I think I`ll take the note.
Thank you Randy.
There is your RV there still parked by the track.☺️👍
What Randy looks for in a car, I'm looking for in a woman. Reliable, comfortable, not too expensive, nice to look at, strong and powerful yet quiet, and comes with a lot of electronics.
i'm pretty sure on the kona you get a CVT with the 2.0 and a 7 speed dual clutch if you get the 1.6 turbo
Out of all the stuff you looked at Randy I think I would take either the Avalon or the Q50. Love both and they both have there pros. I would say though I really do like the Avalon cause you get some great space and they can be pretty comfy plus the mpg is pretty good. The Infiniti does have some great screens in it as well. You should try and bid on the Q50 with the price and the turbo V6 it would be pretty sweet! Overall all the cars you looked at are pretty great value though. Appreciate another great video!👍👍
That's crazy even on my 97 Subaru, none of the lights stay on except for the daytime running lights and there's a button on top of the steering column that runs them and you never turn them on.
As the owner of a 98 Dodge pickup with 178k trouble free miles, skepticism is quite natural on your narrative. As a rule I pay less than $5K for a car and drive it for over 100k miles. Nothing on this channel relates to me.
The Q is certainly a nice car, especially the Red Sport model. I'd certainly consider one if I needed a new car.
2022 Konas and up have A CVT and the turbo engine is an option in higher trims and that has a DCT I’m pretty sure
That Hyundai you drove got a cvt transmission in it
I’d still probably get the Avalon.. I’m biased though. I own a 2013 Avalon Hybrid. Bought it brand new and it’s approaching 200,000 miles. It’s the most efficient and reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve bought and sold more than 80 vehicles in my adult life.
The GM 3.8 L four-speed transmission was getting the same fuel economy ratings back in 2004.
The Toyota Camry is still a nice car and gas mileage is good 👍
Not a nice car lol
Randy
Toyota has the TRD lineup of vehicles that are sportier and the looks are NOT boring looking.
Dam randy the camrys were not having it today
Keep up with the good work RANDY👍✌️
The Camry SE gets 39MPG!
I liked the Kona, nothing special but a good running gas saver. The Q50 rocks! You gotta bid on that one!
Kia and Hyundai may be great cars if they don’t get stolen. There’s not a day that goes by without hearing of at least one theft and accident because of the “Kia Boys” . So good luck.
On my 2020 dodge charger I left the headlights on by accident and apparently the computer shut them off soo the battery didn't die
The hood release thing. I get it you are correct.
People need to not be fooled.. On the Kia/Hyundia brand of cars.. Used cars your powertrain warranty expires a 6/60,000 The original 10/100,000 is for the original purchaser only. I know because I have owned those brands since 2006.
Got a jeep with the 2.5l. And seen the latest 2.8l Chevrolet you picked up. I had a bretta gtz and corsica. Bretta had the guad 4 and the corsica had the 3.1
A CVT is *acceptable* (to some) if you maintain them properly. Replace the fluid and filter every 40k to 50k miles.
AFAIK, they're not easily serviced, sort of like the DCT automatic-manual transmissions.
Randy that Hyundai Kona that was shown at the beginning is a CVT. Kia and Hyundai do a pretty good job ( as far as comparing to other CVTs ) at simulating the gears.
Another great video. Be safe and careful.☺️👍🙏
Toyotas (& Lexus) really are the best cars in the world.
I'd have more faith in a 20yo Camry than a brand new Range Rover.
Just bulletproof.
Good morning sir. Good to see you again. ☺️👍
YES Finally YOUR GOING TO LOVE THE INFINITI I GOT A 2015 Q50 awd WITH THE 3.7 L 200.000 MILES
Somebody is playing games with those Toyotas
Yes and I hope that auction center figures it out who is doing that and bans them from their facilities 😮😊
Randy: we finally found a Camry we can look at!
DAA Camrys: Are you sure about that?
That was crazy that they were all dead 😮😢
When it comes to cars I'm a honda or Toyota guy but that q50 surprised me. I'm now rethinking my life choices.
Yeah, if you kill the battery, you might deter others from bidding on it.
That is what these people do when they want to get one or more vehicles for cheap. To me that is poor play and not fair. That auto auction needs to have their staff make sure that people are not doing dirty play tricks like this on their lots and banning people who do that and are caught 😮😊
Wouldn’t the auction have boosters to run the cars through the lanes? Why would a dead battery deter a buyer
I have wanted a Q50 for 4 years now. I would buy one if i could!! Beautiful vehicle!!!
18:53 at my job we have a bunch of 2021+ Camry's, Corolla's and the occasional Sequoia/Tundra with dead batteries. It seems to be a common thing now that im seeing it on your side.
But the key was left on intentionally in these cars! someone wants to but alkl the Camrys and get them for a lower preice since they woint start, Randy should tell the staff and they can look over the csmera footage of who was in every camry and then ban them from ever bidding again.
The 2023 Hyundai Kona has a turbo and naturally-aspirated engine options. The turbo ones have the 7-speed DCT for the N Line and a Limited trims. The naturally-aspirated ones are the ones that has the CVT for the SE and SEL trims.
The only reason I would not buy the Q50 is if it cost more than the Avalon. At seventeen thousand its like robbery with a "paddle".
That is a very nice Avalon and gets great gas mileage.👍
I personally have a Toyota avalon and I love it but mine is a 2000
Hello Randy. The 2023 Hundea Kona is a good looking car even though it's got scrapes down one side. The 2023 Toyota Camery is a good looking car even though it has a mirror cap missing.
The Infinity and the Lexus brands require SUPER unleaded
I have a Saturn Ion going on 20 yrs old buddy :) 2004 2.2, :)
That Infinite Q50 would be a great choice. 😊
Randy's self-made series........who needs "Fast and Loud"? WE'VE got "Fast and Cheap"! Much more real and entertaining. And the star of the show has more positive character 👍🇺🇸😎
(Randy is AWESOME! The other guy from the TV show, R. Rawlings - not so much)
Hi, that was fantastic. It was very interesting, I agree with you the Q50 is a far better car, and less money, although it may not be as good on fuel, but I think for what you get in the Q50 it's the better deal , plus I have always admired that model its a nice looking car ,I look forward to your next video ,best wishes to you from the uk 👍🇬🇧 🇺🇸
The Q50 all day.. love your content. Respect
The Kona is a terrible car worked on plenty at my shop and had one as a rental before with 17k miles transmission was slipping bad but was a 22 model don’t know if much changed though
The 2.0L in the Kona is a naturally aspirated motor. The Kona has an IVT trans unless you get a Kona N Line or the Kona N. Those come with same DCT as the Elantra N Line
Love the q50, solid cars!
@autoauctionrebuilds I absolutely agree! The Avalon is a great car but the Q50 really nice. I hope you come across a Q50 Red Sport 400. Yes the 400 is for 400hp 😃
If I remember right triangle is windshield washer flood low
I would pick the Camry or Avalon
The Avalon used to be built on the same frame as the Lexus LS. Much better quality then
No the Avalon was always built on the Camry platform. It’s just essentially a big Camry.
You forgot about the Nissan Rubber Band Transmissions , That Infiniti is only worth the Price of scrap.
You’re an idiot. The Infiniti is NOT CVT. At least know what you’re talking about before talking about it…
My Kia Sportage 6 cylinder was a 2.5 L which matched the same size of that Camry 4 cylinder.
My UK spec 2020 Ford Focus Vignale requires x2 pulls on the hood release!
I believe it has CVT. I agree with you.
Randy, I give my vote to the INFINITY is more power with twin turbo.
Randy, I think the Hyundai is a sports automatic dual clutch transmission, at least that’s what they sell with here in Australia.
Cvt after 2nd gear, first gear is metal, and probly reverse is 1st gear, better than the early jenco trans but will still last 125-140,000 miles
You parked the Avalon in the wrong g spot the blueish Subaru wagon was on your left when you were backing out ! So much about parking in the same spot !Ha Ha ! There was a black Hyundai in front of the Avalon ! Oh well ? Not a big deal I'm sure ! Love your channel and watch every day ! God Bless !
The 2021 I rented had a 2.0 N/A had a 6 speed trans axle,
In portugal those Hyundai Kona is called KAUAI because Kona/Cona it's vagina in portuguese. In europe they are sold with 1.0 liter 3 cilinder with 125cv
Transmission
7-speed automatic,
Continuous variable transmission for the Kona
You can't beat the Q50 for the money and it's all wheel drive.
Randy,,i would personally for for the Infinity Q50, it makes more sense to me.
ive always hated infinities, but that Q50 is nice and it sounds good unlike the G series
Hey Randy the Kona has CVT did a Google search
Actually the Toyota line up for the corollas and Camry’s are the xse and for the Avalon I believe it’s limited for the top trim
I like the Q 50 more especially being rear wheel drive or all wheel drive optional
That was hella fast.👍
My thoughts exactly 💯 on that Q50. Talk about rapid transit. 😊. Just hate to see the insurance payment on that little sucker 😮😊
