This was a very interesting story; however the reporter in the episode ruined it by his over the top, dramatic narration. Definitely not a fan of his reporting style where the interviewer should be more neutral and less opinionated.

I got adopted from Romania at 11. I grew up in poverty and when I was exposed to a comfortable life, I was forever grateful. I can’t imagine plotting my parents’ demise after all they’ve done for me and the opportunities and love they provided me with. Greed is a sickness of the mind

I can imagine growing up adopted is extremely hard. Not feeling like you belong to anyone or have a tribe. I'm so happy you found a tribe and hope you make a tribe of your own. I just had my 1st daughter at 45. We have basically no family. Died off or just not part of our life. She has no brother or sis ,cousins or grandparents. It's my worst fear she ends up alone. I have a special place in my heart for people who have felt alone like you.

Dateline did a more in depth story on this case. 48 Hours skipped over the part where her son & his wife tried deleting their texts messages but they didn’t realize that on Apple devices those messages are still saved on other Apple devices. For that woman to only get a few months is a disgrace because you don’t do things like try to delete your messages if you are not an active participant in the crime.

    • @vikramadoddamani

Even if one is a passive participant, they would still try to hide the crime. She didn’t stand to gain directly from the death of the Nick’s parents. She is to the crime, what a catalyst is to a chemical reaction.

@@vikramadoddamani first, that is COMPLETELY false. If you are a passive participant who doesn’t really know what’s going on you don’t actively try & hide your role, it’s just that simple.
Second, they were married so she was going to directly gain from the murders of his parents. She had already planned on what car she was going to buy her mom with the money. That is the very definition of directly gaining.
Third, she wasn’t just some woman who happened to be married to a monster. Her role in all of this was more along the lines of Lady McBeth. That back and forth on those text was direct evidence that she was in on the planning.

Many adopted children - especially from Russia and Ukraine - have reactive attachment disorder. I worked with many who were orphaned as infants and just those few months without the love and affection from a caregiver can have devastating affects.
Corey seems to level-headed. I’d be a basket case. I’m an Austinite and I don’t know why I don’t remember this story. So crazy. May Jackie have the life she deserves. May future employers, dates, and friends google her and know the truth about her.

She and her husband welcomed an orphan into a life of quality and promise and look what it cost them: Just about everything, their dreams and their future together and her husband's actual life. I rarely actually cry when watching these sad tales but my God, this ripped my heart to pieces. The suit seeks to remove him from office. How dare law enforcement solve cases that he does not want to see the light of day. Let's see if they have the guts to do anything with him. It comes at a good time though, because he is running for re-election Nov. 2024. We will find out if they really don't want to vote for a candidate who is being investigated. He is opposed by Rep. The older brother ended up putting an axe in her head while she was sleeping once he was around the age of 18. The kid in this case was adopted from Ukraine - no clue if he was mistreated.
