I think this entire thing is making a mountain out of a molehill, and I mean that regarding what Gene said and people reacting to it. Sure, I've known funny drunks, but that's almost always from a "social gathering" perspective. If you have to deal with an alcoholic that's drunk every day even the funny ones stop seeming funny because it's the same situation again and again and again. Not at all fun when you have no escape from it and you're trying to get some work done. I could be wrong, but Gene might just mean "I wish I'd have drawn the line early on with their behavior". Everyone that's ever dealt with addicts feels this way after the fact (both for their own sakes, and the sake of the addict). Don't get me wrong, sometimes Gene says really dumb stuff, but I think analyzing his every word literally might mean missing his overall point (which is true of everyone). As for "fired three times"... yeah, he's incorrect (primarily about Ace), but there were three "original member" stints and they all ended pretty chaotically, with Peter fired twice and utterly melting down the other time. Ace, by his own admission, was a wreck too. They definitely wanted him out, they just wanted to finish the tours first. I don't really expect Gene to go into the full details about every lineup change every time he speaks. While we're at it, Ace and Peter always talk about other people wearing their makeup and how disrespectful it is. It's funny though, neither of them minded when they were still in the band (Ace played with Eric and Peter played with Tommy). All four of the original members have said some stupid stuff. Eric and Tommy were hired guns and they knew it. We'd all have loved it if there was more of a fairy tale ending to the band, but oh well. We should just enjoy the songs and performances we like, skip what we don't (I never went to see them once Ace and Peter left but I don't complain about them being gone) and not hang on every word these guys say like they're coming down from Heaven.
Ace didn't actually quit the second time. When he finished the actual farewell tour he just didn't come back. They of course begged him. Then Paul made up a story about how a mechanic inspired him to restart the band without Ace and Peter.
With ACE on the tour they sell more tickets. Drugs or no drugs. But arguably MUCH better without. Leave the Rock N Roll to the SPACE ACE and leave the Drugs to the Kiss Army!
Gene is worse than Blackie Lawless. That guy erases ex members after they're gone like bassist Rik Fox who actually came up with the name WASP. He also denies he was ever in NY Dolls when he did in fact play on their final shows for Johnny Thunders who was strung out on heroin. No matter how much Gene and Paul disparage Ace and Peter they will never erase their legacy from the band.
@@zandig666uhh, like I said Kiss rules, if it wasn't for Kiss, most bands would have never existed , because they influenced most bands, like it or not
Didn‘t Peter had a Car Crash in 1978 - that’s why he didn’t played full Drums on his Solo LP & Dynasty ! Then finally he leave in 1980 because he had enough from touring & KISS goes Disco !
Peter went "disco" too. With Stan Penridge. "Dirty Livin'" is quite disco influenced. And "I Was Made For Lovin' You" is unique. Desmond Child said, Paul brought Motown-like elements into the song. No disco song sounds like "YWMFLY". However, it's not the real reason why Peter left. Lydia left him plus his addiction etc.
"Nobody is funny when they're drunk"? Hhhmmm. I seem to vaguely recall Peter O'Toole, John Barrymore, Judy Garland, Oliver Reed, Keith Moon, Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Sam Kinison, Barry Fitzgerald, Robert Mitchum, Lemmy Kilmister, Ozzy Osbourne, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Graham Chapman, Vivian Stanshall, Eric Idle, Buster Keaton, Jackie Gleason... Just to name a few nobodies, who, when you think about it, weren't really very funny. Gene & Paul have been repeating the same tired out talking points for decades now. Considering they have access to powerful publicists, you'd reckon they'd have fresh sparkling new one-liner talking points to feed interviewers every single time they had to do press. But year after year, it's "Ace and Peter..."Peter and Ace... Ace and Peter..." "We have Kiss condoms and Kiss coffins, we get you coming and going." "We wanted to be the band we never saw." (Paul recently trotted that one out yet again, in a recent Gibson Collectors interview) OY!
''The Great $immons (Wheel Of Lie)''... The day he shuts his mouth about the past, he’ll show the world that he’s finally become a mature man! Till then, his song will be ''The Great Mandella (The Wheel Of Life)'' by Peter, Paul and Mary.
Gene is one of those people - and we all know one of these people - who can talk for a half hour and say NOTHING. And he says he's never one found a drunk person witty? Look at the interview Kiss did in Australia where they were introducing Eric Carr as their new drummer. When Ace points to the camera and says "Look! It's rock and roll!" both Gene and Paul almost fall down laughing.
Peter is the only original member who has retired with class and style. Peter may have had his issues back in the day but he has really seemed to turned out happy. I love the original line up but the constant bashing each other is really stupid.
R.I.P Gene Simmons August 25 1949 - sometime in 2001 = credibility well and truly shot for over 20 years now lol. Nobody is funny when they are drunk???? So sorry Gene but Ace on Countdown Australia and Tom Snyder was damn right hilarious!!!
Gene has a point there, but he fails to realize that he and his boss Paula hired Peter Criss who was an even bigger disaster and should have never been admitted to the band. What KISS needed was a killer drummer like Eric Carr, not some old fart swinging the drum kit and pretending to be Frank Sinatra. His drumming skills were at best, pedestrian. By the time Gene and Paul found him, Peter was already old, broke, and about to find himself a job as the music career had tanked. When he was fired from the KISS, no other band rushed to hire him. That's how bad and unreliable he was. Ace had problems but not as bad as Peter's and brought to the band much more than Peter ever did..
The discussion whether Peter and Ace were fired or not is not necessary. Because Gene only said: they were "in and out" or were "let go". He didn't say, they were fired. Ace could have died in the band. You think they didn't care? Ace could have died of his own self-destructive personality. As a member of Led Zeppelin he could have died too. There is nothing Gene and Paul could have done. Some addicts treat even their family members as enemies when they don't "support" their addiction. ACE BLAMES GENE AND PAUL ONLY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T SUPPORT HIS ADDICTION. Paul mentioned in his book Ace's paranoid tendencies. That's realistic. Family members of drinkers know, when they try to help they become enemies, traitors etc. and experience physical and psychological threatening and violence. Therefore Paul and Gene couldn't help him. Ace needed professional help. Once he admitted: "I was my own worst enemy". So, whatever Gene may say now, he is NOT the scapegoat. Critisize Ace. He was the real "Destroyer" in KISS.
Funny part about KISS they are not and were not great business people. They also were never innovative. If managed correctly they would have been bigger than anyone. Sad, is the best description for them now.
Gene Simmons can't stand that Peter Criss has the biggest song Beth Ace Frehley sold more solo albums they're very jealous. Paul and Jean are greedy J's.
Jealous or not, Paul and Gene were professional enough to control their emotions. And "Beth" was #7 with "Detroit Rock City". So Peter and Paul were together #7.
Gene didn’t drink probably because he thought it would break his dear late mother’s heart. Who’s to say she didn’t drink? I drink beer, and so does my mom. We’ve never broken each other’s hearts.
Yes, you are correct. Only Peter was fired three times. Ace has NEVER been fired from Kiss. He quit twice. So why does Gene continue his narrative? I think I figured it out. Because if he confirms what Ace said, that Paul (who runs the band) never wanted to kick Ace out of the band, so Ace had to quit, that ruins the interviews about the End Of The Road tour, where interviewers said, "What about the Farewell Tour you did in 2000?" and Paul & Gene said they wanted to say farewell to Ace and Peter. If Paul wanted Ace to stay, and Peter did come back to the band for the Kiss Symphony and the tour with Aerosmith, then the "farewell to Ace and Peter" thing makes no sense. So we come back to this: Why did Kiss keep going, with Eric (after Peter's third firing) and Tommy, after the Farewell Tour? I read somewhere it's because Paul was getting divorced from his first wife and needed big money for alimony.
Peter and Ace made their bed - twice. Ace - the same thing both times. He was a drunk, and his playing was mediocre the second time by the end. Peter - the first time he ended up a mess. The second time he couldn’t play (listen for what is missing folks) and became a headache. I’ve said it before. The lineup would have been Ace with Eric Singer with Aerosmith if Ace had stayed. They didn’t want Peter, but needed 3 original members.
Gene and Paul has always been about them that's why I don't like kiss but there fan's think there awesome but that's why there still here don't get me wrong I like there music but Paul and Gene are asshole. Crue 4LIFE
Im getting sick of Gene putting down Ace and Peter. If it wasnt for Ace and Peter,Gene & Paul wouldn't have become Multi millionaire's in the first place.
Seriously, I love all four members of this band but please stop pissing on Ace and Peter… Ace will stand his ground and he should, Peter is such a good guy he lets it roll of his back. The two are sober and in good spirits, maybe it’s best they did go to the last tour, their legacy is in tact. Gene and Paul they look like the fools in the end.
While he has the right to his own opinion and perceptions are personal, reality sometimes isn't in agreement. Ace and Peter drank and partied even before they joined the band. It shouldn't have been a surprise! While Gene and Paul were making money, they overlooked the issues. When their producer Bob Ezrin was coked out during recording sessions, they allowed it! I agree something should have been done, if for no other reason to keep them alive! If they had stayed in the band, there's no guarantee the band would have become as iconic as it has. A change was needed. It would have been great to see what Ace could have done in his prime and drug free! It would also be great to see what Gene and Paul could have been if they weren't greed mongers!
If I had to be around Gene and Paul I'd be on ALL the drugs ALL the time.

I grew up like many during the whole kiss Era way back. Ace was NEVER FIRED..Peter was voted out by 80 yeah they did..ace never was fired..In fact kiss had just signed to polygram with a 20 million dollar contract and ace then was quitting they ended up begging ace to stay in band because they lost I believe 8 million from label as result of ace quitting...everyone or most know Paul even went to ace house trying to get him to stay in band....ace was only in bang 73 to 82 .and as part of contract they reached in 82 ace did promo tour overseas for creatures tour..then he was out....ace left again from 96 till end of farewell tour...that ended I believe 2002 and that was it ace was never in band since...but gene n Paul love to downplay the real truth
Didn't Gene tell a story that he accidentally ate a bunch of pot brownies at a party once? Never been high? Another lie.
On Family Jewels, Shannon had him drinking, so the “never had a drop of alcohol in his life” claim is BS.
Yeah, it was in his autobiography.
His wedding he had champagne @@muziktrkr
He didn't know they were pot brownies, knock it off! Get your facts straight dude.
@@Daviscole-ym7jb He's said he's never been high once. Learn how to listen and read!
In regards to people being funny when their drunk Ace was hysterical on the Tom Snyder show . Much to the chagrin of Gene as you could see his disappointment or disapproval because he has at times a stick up his arse .
Peter Chris is probably the best dude out of the bunch.
Absolutely
The guy that KISS roadies called the "Ayatollah Crisscoula?"
Ever heard the rehearsal tape where Peter's being a turd?
Nah- ask Doc how he liked working with dear o Pete...
He is. I met him and Ace on the Reunion tour. Peter honestly wanted to make sure I had a good time. I told him it was a dream come true for me and almost broke my hand shaking it.
Peter seems to be at peace. Nothing bad to say about anyone these days. He's moved on and is enjoying life. Good for him. Letting go of 40 year old resentments is something Paul Stanley sure can't do. Life's short people. Being at peace matters.
I THINK GENE IS OBSESSED WITH HIS SPECKLE!
I think you mean "shmeckel".
Meanwhile it’s happy hour at the Rock & Brews restaurant.
Of course he's going to lie, because he lies to himself that sex and money aren't addictions.
As a die hard Peter Criss, he really never got fired, because he wanted out in early 78, and they did the solo albums and the ridiculous Phantom of the Park movie, and then Dynasty, which Peter and Ace wanted out anyway!!!!@
He lied about the vaccine too🤡🤡🤡

Good job! Excellent perspicacity to cut thru the BS.

Hey buddy. I was hoping everything was ok with you when I noticed you hadn't posted today. Stay strong bro.
Ralph, Ace Frehley is back on the sauce.. He says some shit that's way out there on this show. I know it's a rough watch but you need to see this one. If you can't get through the tunes then skip to the end of the songs. Because he does a lot of shit talking on this one.

This concert is going to be talked about all over the internet.
That show is the biggest trainwreck i have seen so far. I am not sure if Ace is drinking again. He may be on other stuff. No way that guy is sober.
@@almosthuman56 I totally agree. I sure don't blame Lara for leaving him. Especially if he's actually hanging out with the "Hells Angels" I bet that would feel like you were hanging out with people off the "Jerry Springer" show. hahaha
Poor women. You should do a video on this one while it's fresh & new. It would probably gather a lot of views & subs.
Glad you watched it. Take good care Ralph. Peace.. Joe
i think gene was honest but he went along with what paul wanted
No not Gene!!
Sounds like he wants to play with them again.
I saw the tour with Aerosmith and they were way better than the reunion tour next tour, the farewell tour. The competition and money, made them try and it was the best tour since alive.
Then Paul made up a story about how a mechanic inspired him to restart the band without Ace and Peter.
no he quit
it was a car washer than made Paul start KISS again. hahaha. Anyone that believes that is an imbecile.
Who's the photobomb at 5:51? Pete Rose's stunt double?
With ACE on the tour they sell more tickets. Drugs or no drugs. But arguably MUCH better without. Leave the Rock N Roll to the SPACE ACE and leave the Drugs to the Kiss Army!
1:11 I love the look on Ace's face.
As a young man I’m wondering why a video about kiss news exists when this happened 40 some years ago
Amen Ralph 😀🤘
Gene is worse than Blackie Lawless. That guy erases ex members after they're gone like bassist Rik Fox who actually came up with the name WASP. He also denies he was ever in NY Dolls when he did in fact play on their final shows for Johnny Thunders who was strung out on heroin.
No matter how much Gene and Paul disparage Ace and Peter they will never erase their legacy from the band.

And "I Was Made For Lovin' You"
is unique. Desmond Child said, Paul brought Motown-like elements into the song. No disco song sounds like "YWMFLY".
However, it's not the real reason why Peter left.
Lydia left him plus his addiction etc.
Yes I was thinking he is just like Sammy then you said it. Yes I think so to.
The Ace was F’ed UP just the other night!!!🎉
Peter is the only original member who has retired with class and style. Peter may have had his issues back in the day but he has really seemed to turned out happy. I love the original line up but the constant bashing each other is really stupid.
Well I'll tell you the sober Ace was clearly fucked up at the concert here in Orlando Florida
Creatures - was a trick - for sure.
Sorry but Gene & Paul don't know shit from shinola when it comes to Ace & Peter, sorry but KI⚡⚡ isn't KI⚡⚡ without Ace & Peter in the band 🤷🏼♀️

It's Cold Gin time again!
Peter was only fired once really.
Genes ego is bigger then Texas. Ive been a KISS fan since 75, and ive always hated Gene. And, IMO, Genes bass solos absolutely suck.
Hey mate, not wanting to be disrespectful, but you sound different , you ok ?
Not really. My Father passed away.
@almosthuman56 sorry to hear that, please accept my sincere condolences
Let Go means Fired.
Gene didn't say "fired".
"Let go" is respectful.
As Gene would say: "gymnasium".
Funny part about KISS they are not and were not great business people. They also were never innovative. If managed correctly they would have been bigger than anyone. Sad, is the best description for them now.
Gene is such a Goon 💀
I got unsubscribed from your channel again. This is the third or fourth time now.
9:26 Is Paul wearing pantyhose?
Gene didn’t drink probably because he thought it would break his dear late mother’s heart. Who’s to say she didn’t drink? I drink beer, and so does my mom. We’ve never broken each other’s hearts.
Gene has a long, out of control lying tongue.
What about gene's sex addition?
I would say there is a good reason to be drinking if you listen someone like gene whining
Peter was🥃long before.
When Gene called him📞Peter was already 27 and married. Don't you speculate now he was💉 because of his mean wife?
Crue 4LIFE
Gene needs to listen to born again & sabotage and quit talking.
Hey Gene Jim Morrison wrote better songs then Gene Simmons even if Gene lived 3 times and he was high as $#@^.🤘
Gene wrote "Deuce" and "Watchin' You" and the bridge for Ace's "Cold Gin" etc. Without 🥃+💉.
And he became famous too.
Gene attention starved
All I can Say Is .., pity All This Is happening, Gene Should speak less, Every Band member deserve respect, Like It or not ..
Worst band in rock music.
Ralph!! If this don't sound like gene missing his old band mates I don't know what would. Such a vapid skin sniffeler. 😅 stay safe my good jb. 👍
