Peter Criss album facts: Sean Delaney, was an American musician, producer, road manager and songwriter, best known for his work with the rock band KISS from the early 1970s until the early 1980s. He is largely credited with developing their choreography onstage, and co-wrote many songs "Take Me" (Stanley/Delaney) from the album Rock and Roll Over. "Mr. Speed" (Stanley/Delaney) from the album Rock and Roll Over. "Makin' Love" (Stanley/Delaney) from the album Rock and Roll Over. "All American Man" (Stanley/Delaney) from the album Alive II. "Rocket Ride" (Frehley/Delaney) from the album Alive II. Delaney has also claimed to have co-written the KISS songs "Love Gun", "I Want You" and "Rock Bottom", although without receiving credit. Delaney was brought in to produce Gene Simmons' album in 1978. In Gene's case, Delaney was asked at the outset to produce the album, and even had a co-writing credit with the song "Living In Sin," Delaney was asked while producing Simmons' solo album to also contribute to Criss' solo venture. Criss was involved in a car accident around this time, and because of this and other behind-the-scenes distractions, he was incapable of getting any new original material together. Delaney wrote "I Can't Stop The Rain" and "Rock Me, Baby" off of Criss' solo album, both of which he also shares production credit for; those two songs and "Easy Thing" (written by Criss/Penridge) were co-produced by Vini Poncia/Peter Criss/Sean Delaney. I don't know how much of this information you knew Ralph but I know you love this kind of stuff.
I hear that Kiss is going to have a concert outside Ralph's house. The setlist is going to be the full albums of Crazy Nights and Hot in the Shade. The final encores are extended versions of Bang, Bang You and Read My Body!😂
Always liked the album, the two big ballads "I Can't Stop the Rain" and "Don't You Let Me Down" are pop masterpieces quite frankly. Peter always had the coolest voice in Kiss, a much better crooner than Paul which probably always pissed off the Starchild.
1. That's The Kind Of Sugar Papa Likes 2. Tossin' And Turnin' 3.I'm Gonna Love You 4.You Matter To Me 5.Don't You Let Me Down 6.Hooked On Rock 'n' Roll 7.Rock Me, Baby 8. Can't Stop The Rain 9.Easy Thing 10.Kiss The Girl Goodbye
Always loved the mellow tunes, especially "I can't stop the rain". But it's still my least favourite of the Kiss solos. Gene's not great either, but at least it has "Radioactive" and "See you in your dreams" that rocks, and two wonderful tributes to his idols, The Beatles, "See you tonite" and "Mr make believe"
Peter had the best voice of the 4 originals...smoky, raspy and very soulful, a Motown feel to it. it is my second favorite of the solos, Ace's being #1.
Peter Criss KISS 1978 Solo Album ----- ( My Pick ) 10. Tossin And Turnin Agree Not a good cover Thinking if He would’ve Done something Like The Letter By The Boxtops With Peters Voice. It would’ve been a killer 9. Easy thing ( okay kill me ) Just don’t do Anything for me. I hate the ending. Should’ve stay all acoustic and scratch out the back ground singers . But it dose have heart I’ll give it. 8. You matter to me Kill me now….. Peter said he told Lydia Criss that he wrote this song for her but he was fascinated with Deb at the time. Not a good single no.. 7. Rock Me Baby ( how bout no !! ) it may work for some but not for me . 6. That’s The kinda sugar papa likes Love this song. Got great soul in it. Just a killer tune 5. I’m gonna love you It’s a okay song . Some what a filler in my opinion. You just have to be in the mood for it 4. KISS The Girl Goodbye LOVE LOVE LOVE this !!! They should’ve done this on Unplugged .. 3. Hooked On Rock ‘n Roll This would’ve been a great opener for the album . Bruce Kulick band played this one with Peter a few years back on creatures fest … 2. Don’t You Let me down I always thought the background vocals sounded like Paul and Gene Love this song !!!! 1. I Can’t Stop The Rain Love this song always have always will my all time favorite song on this album since I 1st heard it
This album has really grown on me over the past couple decades. When I was younger, I didn't like it that much but over time my view of this record has changed dramatically..
Never understood how people said this was the worst KISS solo album. I think Gene is the worst one by far. The "Demon" singing about When Once Upon a Star. . .
Killer pictures of Peter. He looks like a damn giant next to those folks 😂. Never was a fan of the album. Tried listening again a couple of years back but stopped early. There’s just so much to listen to, but I’ll try again on one of those days when I can’t stop the rain.
Saw them on Dynasty tour at the Los Angeles forum Nov 7th...'79...I don't remember Peter playing that "Tossin and turning" song at all...I think Paul played a solo song...I'm sure of Ace playing "New York groove" because I remember that guitar lighting up while he played it ...
Dammit I turning 55 Didn't like tossin On the Dynasty tour either too many solo songs and bad choices of songs I like easy,I like the rain And the album cover That's it
Oh where did you see them ?... they didn't play "Tossing and turning" when they played the forum in Los Angeles...Only Ace played "New York groove"...and I think Paul played "Move on"...but not connected after "Radioactive" like the gig from Largo which I quite liked !
@philipholmes5884 fresno Seen them Many Times I actually found a few of them on you tube The fresno sellend arena 79 I found the one I went to in 83,creatures Universal amphitheater Fee others Pretty cool Take a trip down memory lane knowing I was there and I can visit it when I want to Ralph reminded me what I forgot in 79 And I don't visit kissology dvds much these days
My reviews - See you in your dreams is a good song. Radioactive has a cool 70s camp thing going for it. Mr. make believe is good. The rest of genes album sucks. I can't stop the rain is ok. Everything else is hilariously bad like Gene's. Ace's album kicks ass and Paul's is good.
Peter Criss solo: Success By Mediocrity….sweet Jesus I’ve never been so indifferent to a collection of songs in my life. Definitely not good but you can’t call it “bad.” It’s just there. Tossin and Turning is an embarrassment and “That’s the kinda sugar Papa likes” takes the cake for one of the worst song titles of all time…I’d like to interview people that genuinely like this album and listen to it on a regular basis and ask them what they like about it…or are they just Kiss fans who breathe a sigh of relief when an Kiss release isn’t a total bomb? This definitely comes dangerously close at times. And this went platinum (allegedly). That’s like giving Burger King a Michelin star.
those albums shipped platinum but did not sell platinum. I remember seeing those records in cut-out bins at Kmart and Target in the early 80s for 1 or 2 dollars each. of course, they had the cut-out notch but back then I did not care about that. I was not collecting just wanted as much Kiss as I could get. I fit the description of the fan who loves this album for strange reasons. Here is why I fell in love with it. I had an 8 track of the Blues Brothers live and listened to it all the time and loved it. So Peter's album although nowhere near Kiss was familiar to me in a lot of ways and I also loved Dr Hook and Pablo Cruise back then so You Matter to Me had that 70s synth vibe that I had grown to love already. I do not apologize at all for loving Peter Criss ( he was and still is my favorite guy) and his solo album. Maybe one day it will grow on you. Smoke a good blunt and give it another go. Forgive my grammar and disregard for capitalization, can't be bothered right now. Turns out I had Grammarly running and repaired all of it but I could not be bothered to remove the original disclaimer for my laziness.
Great review. My Top Four Solo Albums are? Ace Frehley Paul Stanley Peter Criss Gene Simmons. I put Peter Criss over Gene Simmons album anytime. Peter Criss is a Better album than Gene Simmons. I like the music. I thought Gene Simmons solo album would’ve been better but it not bad. It just doesn’t feel like a Gene Simmons album. It started off good until it went to a different direction.
@Zoostation69 He likes a record or two from a lot bands, usually the first ones. My dad is the same way I think the older gen think its cool or something to be like that idk. But that Exodus is pretty good for a band that has been around that long and at their age. Huge respect.
I never ranked the solo albums, I find them all equally awful. When they came out I heard the terrible change in Kiss which carried on into their next handful of horrible albums. Classic Kiss' last good album was Double platinum and they did noting that is that good until Asylum. (yes I know Double Platinum is a greatest hits, but it was the last good thing they did, Studio wise their last great album was Love Gun)
I generally agree with your review. It's a cool album and Easy Thing\Kiss the Girl Goodbye call to mind Prime Big Star. Well done Doc and well done Peter!
I love this album! I alway have! It's my second favorite solo album (and I'm in my early 20's). I Can't Stop The Rain is also my favorite on the album

It will never happen. Every town is America has in its rules that playing any of those songs are against the law.
@almosthuman56 but it's for the fans....😂😂😂
This album has really grown on me. I'm like you, I've always liked I Can't Stop the Rain. Great review.

This is probably my second favorite of the solo albums. I think it's a really great album to listen to when you re sick at home with a cold or flu
I usually just visit your channel for your critical commentary, but I do appreciate the insider info on the Denny's 55+ menu!
Cool, thanks!
4:46 according to Peters book the title is a reference to the film Treasure of the Sierra Madre, it’s a line from the movie or something.

Man I love those photos with the black Panthers. I always dug that outfit.
I actually like all of the songs, including "You Matter To Me". All the songs on ALL FOR ONE, unfortunately, suck big time.
Really love the album and „you still matter to me‘ is my favorite song.😂
Out of the 4 it has the best vocals on it. Also Steve lukather. My personal favorite.
To be honest, Peter’s album sounds a bit like a mid 70’s John Lennon solo record…think “Rock n Roll” or some of “Walls and Bridges”.
Cuz you matter to me, Ralph!

So Ralphael I got notifications for both of the KISS track by tracks today but no notification about this review. I saw this just scrolling
Damn that sucks
Think Ace's album was my favourite, I just couldnt get i to Peters that much, there's a few tracks that were ok, sorry Peter!!
What did you think of Exodus Persona Non Grata album?
Dont care for it. only like Bonded By Blood and Tempo Of The damned by Exodus.
@Zoostation69 He likes a record or two from a lot bands, usually the first ones. My dad is the same way I think the older gen think its cool or something to be like that idk. But that Exodus is pretty good for a band that has been around that long and at their age. Huge respect.
@@almosthuman56 Those are great albums! Exodus and Death Angel are my two favorite Thrash bands.
Hey Ralph, Im not getting notifications for your new content. Is this happening to anyone else? 🤔
Mine some do some don’t. Like today I got both KISS track by tracks but not this Peter review
This is New York Yo.
Iv always dug the album tbh. Genes is the worst hands down.
I think " bald boy" Stanley s was
I am a fan of ALL ten tracks that appear on this 1978 album release! 😁
Don’t love “You Matter To Me.”
That's fine. The tune has grown on me A LOT.@@haydenmalesky2518
That's fine. The tune has grown me A LOT though.@@haydenmalesky2518
Pretty experimental album. But that does not always translate into a good thing. And in this case it doesn't . 😉
You really didn't have any choice but to buy all 4 albums if you wanted the connecting posters 😂

asylum isnt that great either
I saw KISS on the DYNASTY tour at the Lakeland Civic Center. Tossin' And Turnin' SUCKED!!! I think they dumped it from the set soon after.
Yep ...they also dropped the Gene song when they got to Los Angeles...only Paul's - Move on & Ace's - New York groove made it !
I like Ace Frehley.
I generally agree with your review. It's a cool album and Easy Thing\Kiss the Girl Goodbye call to mind Prime Big Star. Well done Doc and well done Peter!
Rock me baby my least fave. Fukk all the naysayers, I'll take Peter's album over G& P
Peter Criss best drummer KISS ever had but this solo album is unlistenable to me. Tried again can't do it.
