What do you think of Toshiro Hitsugaya? What's your favourite Hitsugaya moment from Bleach? And even though we didn't mention it in this video...anyone see The Diamond Dust Rebellion movie too? Let me know your thoughts and more down below!
I feel like he had a lot of potential but was kind of squandered in the end to be honest. His popularity might be somewhat at fault for that oddly, considering he felt slotted in just because fans liked him, as opposed to organically growing
I’ve always liked Toshiro and he’s one of my favorites of the captains of the Gotei. I own the film Diamond Dust Rebellion, which a lot of folks disliked/hated for whatever reason. I recently rewatched the film, and it wasn’t that bad of a film. In my opinion it’s one of the most underrated and under appreciated out of the 4 Bleach films. I liked the idea of Toshiro being the main focus of the film. Several of folks say that Ichigo was purposely shoehorned in the film, which I wholeheartedly disagree. Appreciate you doing this character analysis video for Toshiro. Wonder who’s the next character to analyze in the next analysis video?
I personally think Hitsugaya's real foil is not Gin, but Aizen, and I think that's partially why Kubo has Aizen bully the boy so much. I heard somewhere that Aizen also was a natural-born prodigy like Hitsugaya and was feared and isolated for that, and this makes me think that Aizen is a possible future for Hitsugaya if he had no Momo or Granny to look after him and not fear him for his immense reiatsu/reiryoku.
Out of every Anime RUclipsr I have watched, you single-handedly have the most diverse vocabulary, it's actually insane. It's not even boring to listen to either and the way you express your statements and opinions is astounding!
Right? It’s like most people have a very limited word bank to express their ideas. Mr Tomo commands an expansive vocabulary with an impressively eloquent delivery.
Not only that, it doesn’t get annoying. Like some people who use “more difficult words” just to sound smart. Not to mention his pronunciation is also great. I mean I love the other guy dbzimran… but his ways of pronouncing things like Zanpakutō is so annoying to my ears
Hitsugaya's growth is legitimately incredible when you consider how much time passes over the entirety of Bleach. In just two years he went from being a decent captain with the ability to use bankai in a rudimentary way to being one of the strongest captains with an extremely deep understanding and of his bankai, finally being able to access the full power of it but not yet having mastered it. I really like that Kubo doesn't give Hitsugaya full control over Daiguren Hyorinmaru, showing that while shinigamis are capable of insane leaps in growth, there's always another step to take, more room to grow. It gives the feeling that while Yamamoto was the strongest of anyone in the Gotei not counting the Zero Division, someone else could eventually reach his level given enough time. Yamamoto said that there hasn't been a shinigami born in the last 1000 years stronger than him, but he never says there hasn't been one with the potential to surpass him one day. So many layers to everything in Bleach, Kubo really delivered a masterpiece.
The way Toshiro & Isshin play "detective" roles in a lot of the arcs they are apart of it always made me feel like squad 10 is a sort of investigation unit. Toshiro was on his way to discover the Aizen conspiracy, he is sent leading the advance shinigami squad after the Soul Society arc & Isshin goes to investigate the strange human world murders of shinigami. Pretty cool.
If there is one thing I want, both for Hitsuguya and Rangiku is a reunion with Ichigos Dad. Even if it's like a short side untold tales, I'd love to see a 10 division reunion
Kubo had the perfect chance to do that when isshin and Ryuken invaded warwhelt in the last few chapters. Ishhin could have helped hitsugaya, kenpachi, and byakuya against Gerard. I really hope they can change that in the anime
@Earl Vaughan-Williams I really hope the anime does this. Even just 3 minutes of talking! Can even give us Isshins bankai to work together as fire and ice with Hitsuguya.
I love how Rangiku’s outward personality did a total 180 the minute this guy became captain. To be fair, now she could get away with a lot more stuff; Any time toshiro’s angry, Rangiku can just sit him on top of the fridge and walk away.
I think its less she did a 180, and more she wants to bring out the best in her captain. Its less her changing, and more her captain changed. She makes toshiro a better captain by dealing with her antics. She played the same role nanao plays for shunsui. Rangiku is a character with tons of screen time, and it all feel’s squandered
My favorite Bleach still till this day. I used to get crap back in the day for Hitsugaya being favorite. But I don’t give damn, He has a great design, skill, Zanpakutō and I love his personality. The Ice Dragon is cold
We used to mock Hitsugaya quite a bit back in the day but I must say that at the end of the day I'm pretty fond of this kid. He's one of the most iconic character in the series and that isn't an easy feat.
Who use to mock Hitsugaya? Hes always been the prodigy. Very early on he proved himself to be both strong and smart. No small feats to scoff at especially when he pulled a Bankai.
@@SemekiIzuio I mock him. His only wins are against Luppi, Yukio, and that one insect arrancar, none of whom are very tough in the grand scheme of things. He THINKS he beats Hallibel, but he doesn't finish the job and she lives. He claims to have the strongest ice and snow zampakto, but it can't even freeze down to bone, and if it can, it never happens in the story. Only rukia can freeze down to bone. He talks a big game and constantly gets his ass kicked. His Bankai barely ever actually accomplishes anything; He has one trick: throw ice in a bunch of different shapes at things, and if that doesn't work, he's screwed. Even when it is complete, his opponent still just breaks out of the ice.
What's perfect about Toshiro is his potential. You just can see that his power is going to grow and grow and he has all the qualities to become the Head-Captain of the whole Gotei 13 in the future. Love him. My forever top-10 characters from anime
My all time favorite Bleach Character for sure. I love how he in many ways is the other side to Ichigo's coin. He's the prodigy of the dead while Ichigo is the prodigy of the living. I love how Toshiro is an anabashed good person in a world of gray with how the Soul Society often does things. He always does what's right, and has a strong sense of justice and friendship. Love this character. And as for your pinned comment, while I enjoyed his character arc in Diamond Dust Rebellion, I'm disappointed at how the movie turned out.
As to why Hitsugaya showed up for the Lost Agent arc, Kubo confirmed in an interview that it's because Hitsugaya knew that Ichigo was Isshin's son, and it made him want to help.
Toshiro is definitely my favorite captain, then Kyoraku and Byakuya as equal 2nd and Kenpachi as the third. I like how he and Ukitake are the goodest boys in the Court Guard Squads because they’re naturally that kindhearted
He's a true maverick and dedicated Captain who works well with his lieutenant, even if he's exasperated by her more immature antics. Still his dedication to protecting those he cares for be it Momo or grandma is heartwarming and is in line with his job description. Him also going all out in battle to win regardless is admirable especially since the stakes are usually high.
Aizen's messing with Hitsugaya and Hinamori is so brutal and unnecesarily cruel but it's so entertaining to read... i would have loved to see Aizen messing with the other captains this personally. He was among their ranks for like 200 years, he probably knows all their weaknesses.
I like to think that Aizen was especially cruel to Hitsugaya because he saw himself in him. Aizen was a powerful genius who isolated himself, like Ichigo said that he felt nothing but loneliness in his sword. Hitsugaya is also a genius and very powerful, but unlike Aizen, he has friends and family who prevent him from falling into loneliness despite his cold personality. I think Aizen saw their similarities and deliberately used his personal connections against him, maybe to reaffirm his world view that connections with others are what makes people weak regardless of their innate abilities.
I love Toshiro’s back story really much His life with Momo and Granny. How he met with Rangiku. His adventure with Hyorinmaru. And His Huge Potential. And the most good thing and my favourite trio:Isshin,Rangiku,Toshiro. I wish Kubo show us a scene about these three after Masaki accident. And I Just love his power’s and Adult form. Thanks MrTommo for doing this Characters video
I always found it interesting that Haliebal becomes the Queen Of Hueco Mundo and it always seemed as if Kubo was setting up that one day Toshiro would become so powerful he will step into the role as Head Captain Commander Of The Gotei 13. I know it never said but it was Shunsui who said that Toshiro would surpass him in 100 years. Maybe it helped him deal with taking on leadership because he knew that if something happened to him or if he felt Toshiro became more powerful than he did in 100 years then had another 100 years he would be ready to take on leadership from him as he retired. I mean I assume a head captain can retire. We know Yamamoto did not step down simply because no one ever became more powerful than himself not even Kenpachi with all his claims he is the strongest. I imagine it would take more than just raw power though it would take experience and leadership skills something I feel Toshiro could get down 200 years from the point of Yamamoto's passing.
The Ice Dragon Prodigy is a dope moniker. Even Shunsai said Hitsugaya has the potential to be one of the strongest shinigami ever as he gains experience and maturity.
Love the idea of Toshiro being the future captain commander once the current generation has moved on. Even Kyoraku says in his fight with Stark that Hitsugaya could pass his own power in a 100 years. I really like the juxtaposition of Yamamoto's ultimate fire zanpakuto being the symbol of leadership from the first & oldest generation that Hitsugaya is apart of near it's end and Hitsugaya's ultimate ice zanpakuto being the symbol of leadership for the future. Really cool how a potential future captain commander has ties & respect with Ichigo in a familiar way as well, a sign of the changing mindset of the Soul Society. Really brilliant character writing/foreshadowing.
22:00 One of my favorite moment of Soul Society arc. I think these scenes are really poetic and Kubo is so good and knows how to tell story without too much dialogues.
I think something miss about the Shinigami group showing up at school is it *really* shows how powerful Soul Society are in the physical world. They can so easy integrate groups of Shinigami into any place they want
Since Toshiro’s zanpakuto is the strongest ice type, and he is still growing to the point where could surpass the current head captain, his Bankai could eventually be equal or surpass Yamamoto’s Bankai
I would love to see a video on Fumichicka, idk how alone I am on that but i have always found him to be so interested, from his relationship to Ikakku and squad 11, to the way he intentionally weakens himself by calling his zanpaktou the wrong name due to squad 11's beliefs and values.
Toshiro is my personal favorite captain. And I know it is his downward spiral but him boasting to Aizen that he will step down as captain to strike him down was a lot. I have Hyorinmaru steel sword and was a Toshiro main in jump force and made a character somewhat based on his skill set in DnD. This next anime expo I’m going to I’m attempting to cosplay as him as well. Also, wish we saw more of his abilities. Ryusenka was honestly pretty amazing.
I still think those ice petal's will start disappearing on their own as Toshiro ages. I think that final state of Hyorinmaru will still be it's TYBW form, but dragons normally age and gain strength with age. The Zanpakuto itself is a representation on how much Toshiro has left to grow, not only the potential. Of course his Zanpakuto would be a barren ice field, he only currently had one foundation on which to base himself on. I bet if we saw it now ,it would be a mountainous field with trees, rivers and lakes. shielded, protected and preserved from the elements by an eternal layer of ice. The sky will be filled with moonlight, reflecting against the snow. It will shine brightly, but will not scatter.
Great analysis as always. Loved the parts were you compared him to Yamamoto and Gin. He also seems to have a lot of parallel's with Aizen, at least if Ichigo's assessment of Aizen after their battle in the deicide arc is correct. Namely, that Aizen was always so much stronger than everyone else around him it rendered him unable to connect with anyone. If that is true than you essentially have two characters who were both blessed/cursed with power far beyond what most people could ever dream of having which in turn created problems with them being able to make friends. The biggest difference being that Hitsugaya ultimately was able to bond with some people such as his grandmother, Hinamori, Matsumoto, and Isshin which helped anchor him emotionally. Aizen by contrast had nobody and this likely lead to him developing his god complex and psychopathic tendencies. If this is true than I think it would go a long way in explaining why Aizen always went out of his way to be cruel to Hitsugaya in a way that he just did not with other characters like Soi Fon and Kyoraku even though the latter was always consistently more of a threat than Hitsugaya. In essence, it seems that Aizen resents Hitsugaya for his ability to connect to other people despite how powerful he is which Aizen simply was unable to do. As of the end of the TYBW arc, if anything happened to Kyoraku, Byakuya would be my first choice to take over, but Hitsugaya is a close second for me on that front.
This was a good read. Well done. I never once thought of that connection between Aizen and toshiro. It shows a somewhat jealous side of Aizen that didn’t get to experience the bonds with others
@@gammafrost Thank you for the compliment. Granted, this is assuming that Ichigo's assessment of Aizen is correct but it certainly is within the realm of possibility. But at the end of the day we just do not know a lot about Aizen since the earliest point in his life we got to see was when he was Shinji's Vice-Captain over a hundred years before the start of the story and he was already a full-grown adult. That said, it would not shock me at all if it was revealed that as a child Aizen was isolated because his power drove people away and/or he ended up accidentally killing someone he genuinely cared about. And if he is jealous of Hitsugaya, it would go a long way in explaining why Aizen always went the extra mile to be cruel to him in a way he just not seem to do for anyone else even Shinji, Kyoraku, and Yamamoto despite the latter two being greater threats to him. If we end up getting a fully done Hell Arc, I think that could be an interesting way for Kubo to resolve their conflict if he is so inclined. And even if I am completely off the mark, I think we should all be grateful for Hitsugaya's Grandmother, Hinamori, Matsumoto, and Isshin. With Yamamoto dead, Hyourinmaru appears to be the single most dangerous Zanpaktou in terms of its potential for causing mass destruction; not the kind of thing you want in the hands of a psychopath.
kubo looks at keyblades when making zanpakuto in a way zanpakuto are less key themes but retain all the same qualities keyblades do some even have the chain... some even have a piece on the end of the chain i love how everyone is inspired by eachother keyblades and zanpakuto are cool, im sure some noble phantasm from fate is involved in his design research too
It's good to see you do a video on hitsugaya even though I know he's not one of your favorites. I personally don't think he has abilities its more like he can control ice and these are just all moves he's practiced (more like doing an uppercut is to punching than a new power.) I liked that you noted his growth I have always found it hard to quantify especially because a lot of it seems to come between arcs instead of during them. He's one of my favorites because I feel like he's a prodigy that shows its ok to fail sometimes and that just because you made it doesn't mean you're the best. I've always wished there was one more arc to really drive his growth home but my favorite moment of his is actually his last excluding the anniversary chapter I like how he's able to notice iba working hard chat with Matsumoto and try to help her improve then joke with her about hisagi and finally understand how precious peace really is all within the space of a couple panels and I think it highlights all of his good qualities and ideals that have grown very quickly. Second favorite is definitely when he fights aizen the second time it really shows his fall from his ideals and felt really powerful and cathartic when he put the sword through aizen even if it did turn out to be hinamori. Its also interesting that ichimaru leads hinamori into conflict with toshiro but in a way toshiro leads rangiku into a conflict with gin making that fight an interesting moment to show how everyone's loyalties had shifted fron when they were children.
My headcanon is that hundreds of years in the future Toshiro will be the ice equivalent of Yamamoto. It'd would've been neat to have Yamamoto acknoledge his strength at some point like this.
I think the way the drug worked is that Hitsugaya’s mind starts working so fast his body can’t keep up. He perfectly predicts what would happen it’s so clear in his mind it feels real and than when he thinks it’s over he realises that he was just standing there imagining how the fight would go.
Imagine this : 200years in the future, Shunsui wants a worthy future commander to replace him if something bad should happen to him, asks the Zero Squad to have Toshiro stay and train in the Royal palace exceptionally so he can master every aspect of the shinigami powers. They would never take him, but just imagine
Please consider making a bleach complete character tier list as your overall deep knowledge about each character would make it an interesting and fair list to watch
He is a great character. No doubt. When he stabs Momo, and Ichigp screams "what are you doing!", that was awesome. He does show his immaturity at times, but he is so young, it's understandable. He is such a well rounded character. And this was a great video by the way.
Looking at Hitsugaya's bankai, and by extension it's adult form in TYBW, it seems to also have symbolism to Hitsugaya maturing as a soul reaper outside of just his age. In the zanpakuto rebellion ark, Hyorinmaru states that a child cannot be his master. I think this actually ties into the original and grown up forms of the bankai. As a child, Hyorinmaru lines Hitsugaya's back and coats his arm, as though Hyorinmaru is guiding his hand as a teacher would, but in its grown up form the dragon is missing, which may indicate that Hitsugaya now weilds it rather than being guided by it.
Bro I stopped reading Bleach during the Fullbringer arc but since I found your channel I cannot stop watching these videos. The way you narrate is so captivating, love listening to you while I draw or play videogames!
I just think Toshiro has the potential to just grow and grow and grow in power. Becoming someone so powerful that when he one day takes over leadership not even naturally powerful being's like Aizen and Kenpachi would not be able to keep up. I mean I always felt like Yamamoto was both naturally powerful like Kenpachi and Aizen but on a different level above them plus he had the ability to grow in power as the years went on. Which explains why no other person ever surpassed him in power and the thousands of years brought him wisdom and experience. I can see how it would be hard to ever over come someone who is so far ahead of the game. I often wonder if Zanpakuto can just keep learning new abilities. I mean if Yamamoto had his arm healed and lived another 1000 years would he have achieved something greater than Bankai? Would he be able to add more moves and abilities to his Zanpukoto? Did his Bankai have only 2 stages like East and West when he fought the Quincy Emperor or did he learn 2 more stages later and now he shows it to him 1000 years later from that fight? Did he just choose not to show all 4 stages of the Bankai. I have no idea but if a Bankai can learn multiple techniques it would be interesting to know if it has a limit and if it depends on the limit that particular Shinigami can reach or would it allow a Shinigami to progress in power the more techniques they unlock.
I’ve always viewed Toshiro’s bankai as the ice equivalent of Yamamoto’s fire bankai. Both have various abilities, the only difference thus far is one is younger and less developed.
This is to add to that previous comment, EXACTLY what I've been saying about good ole tomm he is literally the best, I can't get bored of his speeches on this great anime/manga he should be doing something on alot bigger scale getting paid big buks
I really love the character. And I've seen the movie and it was not bad at all. But thing is, I thing it was a bit wasted in my opinion. Toshiro may be not the strongest one, but he sure has the most potential. In my opinon
Hitsugaya once stated that Hyōrinmaru was the strongest water and ice Zanpakutō. Odd how you never actually see the water part represented... Also, I don't like how Kubo felt the need to give every Zanpakutō spirit a human appearance. Hyōrinmaru was fine (if not cooler) as an ice dragon.
@@RGA301092 As their battle continues, Hitsugaya is finding himself being dominated by Harribel. He prepares to counter, but Harribel gives him no chance due to using her “Ola Azul” technique. Harribel questions “whether this is the full strength of a captain”. She finally releases her Zanpakuto, Tiburón. Harribel slices through Hitsugaya’s body without him realising it.
I see Mayuri's drug basically puts him in a daze till he wakes up confused, goes back under, repeat until hes od'd. Its just for spectacle that we see that Mayuri has come to bargain.
While I don't particularly care for Tōshirō Hitsugaya a part of his backstory does reveal an interesting part of Shinigami lore that no other character does which is he was able to partially commune with his Zanpakutō Spirit without an Asauchi, a feat no other character in the story has been shown doing, including Ichigo who who basically had a pseudo-asauchi. Although this is likely due to the amount of screen time Tōshirō got compared to many other powerful characters. Still this means that the personality of a Zanpakutō Spirit can start to manifest within a Shinigami before the influence of an Asauchi is present, basically showing how older generations of Shinigami like Ichibē Hyōsube would have had to forge their powers before Ōetsu Nimaiya created an easy method. That or it feeds into a theory on how Shinigami are different from standard souls, by implying they are not a singular departed human soul, but several souls layered into a single body, much like how an Asauchi are several souls layered together into a single form.
Fair point. And good theory because that's a good point besides from his background \ story they never a shinigami before they enter the shini=academy zanpanbuto awakening or calling out before it manifests.
I always loved seeing toshiro wear that school uniform and interact with people and things in the world of the living, he was never my favorite character but I thought he was cool enough, but I also enjoyed his comedic moments with Matsumoto and ikakku
13:10 that's really more of a reason for Momo herself to get involved than Hitsugaya. Still, at least it's not as bad as Gin being more involved while using the excuse of violence done to his friend just to satisfy his bloodlust.
Toshiro is a pretty cool character. His undoing is Byakuya and Kenpachi who are seen often and are the most popular along with Toshiro. They are both more interesting and stronger than him throughout the entire story. There's also the fact that he's still comparatively young and inexperienced. This causes him to lose many fights by losing control.
When are you gonna do a recap of the first cour of the anime ? I'm really excited for that one !!! Also, a video of everything they should include in the second cour would be nice : things like foreshadowings they should put in there (plot/silver arrow, the Issei's blade), as well as scenes from CFYOW like Gremmy and Liltotto talking when he is in his cell....
Favorite Hitsugaya moment is when he transforms into his adult form and Rukia thinks it's his older brother , though not once having seen "him serve" in the Gotei 13. 😂😂😂
I know it's controversial but I believe Soi-Fon being delegated to lead the Advance Squad in early Arrancar fight would be better than Hitsugaya. She looks more like other school students and it would help people like her a bit more.
When you think about it though Rangiku seems like the kind of person who doesn’t mind going into “commoner” territory such as Rukon district to get some delicacy or whatever. She’s very relatable
This may be crazy but if in hell arc if they were to fight captains in hell he get to encounter yamamoto just for polar opposite zanpakutos to clash. He’d get clapped for sure but that would still be awesome.
Surprised you didn't mention Shunsui's one line about Toushiro (I think it was in TYBW, but it might've been during FKT): how in about 100 years, Toushiro will *easily* surpass him. As for that Bankai induced adult mode...he looks like what you'd get if you DNA Digivolve/Jogress Evolve Megatron & Starscream, I mean Aizen & Gin. 😏 And a curious thing about that is why did the ice dragon wings disappear? You would think that would be something to actually stick around. Favorite moment: his Hollowfied Bankai. There's a menacing, badass, merciless look to it, not unlike to what would happen to the Visoreds. And that partial "Hollow Mask" made of ice? Icing on the cake!!
Imagine Toshiro in 1000 years when he actually has some more mastery over his bankai and experience in more fights, and that would be beautiful to see, haha. Or Shunsui in 1000 years, or Kenpachi lol. Okay, I'm done, haha
OK toshiro is overrated , that's true , kubo shoves him in our faces but hardly developed him as a character, and it's popular to crap on him if you focus only on powerscaling , but overall , toshiro is a pretty solid character . I really cringe when fans say he's the weakest or the worst character, because neither of that is true , and some people don't even criticize him correctly, I remember one idiotic RUclips who called toshiro " the Justin beiber of bleach ." If toshiro was written better , he could have been bleach's equivalent to Killua from hiatus x hiatus, I mean hunter x hunter .
@@Crunchysopa52 well not do anything , but there isnt alot of content that shows toshiro being intelligent or a good leader, most of his screen time is just brooding .
@@bqw2094 I mean, to be fair, almost none of the captains are shown to be good leaders. We at least have a scene of Hitsugaya saving his squad from Bazz B, by sacrificing his life to distract him away from Rangiku and his men. It's not much, but we're not given much from any of the other captains either, in terms of leadership. In terms of intelligence, he has good deduction skills to begin investigating Aizen's murder; good emotional intelligence to care for Hinamori and Matsumoto; good tactical planning as shown against Luppi, Harribel, Yukio and Bazz B; he has great academical scores, scoring well and graduating early from the academy; and he has some understanding of physics, where he works with Rangiku to create vacuum ice (even if it failed, that was still really clever).
@@MichaelisBLee-nw8wy you know what the problem is , the series itself kind of shits on toshiro and overshadows his impressive feats, you made good points , toshiro showed some detective skills when figuring out who murdered central 46 , but nobody cares about that , they juts bring up how he got clapped by aizen . And yeah toshiro's whole " ice vacuum " against bazz b was also a clever idea , but it loses its value, cusse toshiro once again gets clapped . I already said this, to many fans shit in him by only focusing on powerscaling . There is more to a character than strength and feats .
@@bqw2094 No, I definitely agree. I just thought I'd offer some examples. Sorry, if I came across as a contrarian. Personally as a fan of him, I love that Hitsugaya loses a lot. Controversial opinion, but I love that he has to struggle for every victory he can get. Kubo could have easily made him overpowered, but there's a reason why he used Hitsugaya in the beginning of the Arrancar arc. He wanted to show us that while Hitsugaya is great and above where he should be, there's so much more he needs to learn and improve at. In the Thousand Year Blood War arc, we see this at its finest. Zombie Hitsugaya reveals to us what Hitsugaya could be if he ever lost his heart, restraint and morality as a good person. Adult Hitsugaya reveals to us how he could be if he reached that potential. His adult form, to me, is more than fanservice as MrTommo would put it. I wish he noticed how Hitsugaya's personality changed when he became an adult: he is more relaxed, more willing to joke around and relish in his powers, more comfortable with himself without the pressures of expectations on his shoulders. It's hilarious to me when he is compared to characters like Byakuya and Gin (calling him the better prodigy), because the fans forget they are comparing adults in their prime to a child who must still reach that prime. The fact that a child can be compared to adults in the first place is an accomplishment. I think the only part where Kubo failed by me was not having Hitsugaya there for when Aizen was brought in by Shunsui. I feel it would have been real development for Hitsugaya to be the only person to agree with Head Captain Shunsui's decision, despite how much he hated Aizen.
Kubo stated once that they did know ichigo and his sisters were the kids of their former captain but didn’t want to say anything to his family or him at the time
Toshiro is very old fashioned, he is overly formal and stoic, he is the teenager that is trying to live up to his responsibilities. But he is still a teenager and, when his composure is tested to the utmost, he has very irrational and impulsive responses, which he has suffered for. He uses ice rather than fire because he prioritizes simply stopping the battle with logic and precise application of power, rather than passionately destroying his foes with extreme prejudice such as Yammamoto. Personally I like Rukia's zanpakutou and her approach to ice much more than Hitsugaya. His bankai looks cool, but freezing part of his arm and growing the wings (which are unecessary since shinigami can fly) is just restricting his range of wrist motion and visibility. I am not a fan of his abilities, because they are used in a very straightforward, if visually stunning way. I wish he was more tactical, it would suit his personality better. Not my favorite character, but not terrible.
Of course he will grow wings his zanpacto spirit is A DRAGON. And I agree more you know tactical abilities would have suited his personality better but the straight forward way is not so bad.

I recently rewatched the film, and it wasn’t that bad of a film. In my opinion it’s one of the most underrated and under appreciated out of the 4 Bleach films.
You cookin🔥🔥‼️💯
If there is one thing I want, both for Hitsuguya and Rangiku is a reunion with Ichigos Dad. Even if it's like a short side untold tales, I'd love to see a 10 division reunion
Kubo had the perfect chance to do that when isshin and Ryuken invaded warwhelt in the last few chapters. Ishhin could have helped hitsugaya, kenpachi, and byakuya against Gerard. I really hope they can change that in the anime
Even more, I'd like Kukaku and Ganju to meet him, and for Ganju and Ichigo to give each other grief about being first cousins.

If Rangiku became a Captain.
10 Division will Turn into a Harem💀
I think its less she did a 180, and more she wants to bring out the best in her captain. Its less her changing, and more her captain changed. She makes toshiro a better captain by dealing with her antics. She played the same role nanao plays for shunsui. Rangiku is a character with tons of screen time, and it all feel’s squandered

That's surprising since he was always popular with Japan bleach fans and even won a popularity poll
We used to mock Hitsugaya quite a bit back in the day but I must say that at the end of the day I'm pretty fond of this kid. He's one of the most iconic character in the series and that isn't an easy feat.
The Pikachu I never asked for.

I forgot the whole plot point that Hitsugaya presence generates cold hurting his grandmother. Loved that detail.
Toshiro isn't kind hearted lol he's obnoxious and to the point much like byakuya
He was among their ranks for like 200 years, he probably knows all their weaknesses.
çocuk düşmanı işte
I like to think that Aizen was especially cruel to Hitsugaya because he saw himself in him. Aizen was a powerful genius who isolated himself, like Ichigo said that he felt nothing but loneliness in his sword. Hitsugaya is also a genius and very powerful, but unlike Aizen, he has friends and family who prevent him from falling into loneliness despite his cold personality. I think Aizen saw their similarities and deliberately used his personal connections against him, maybe to reaffirm his world view that connections with others are what makes people weak regardless of their innate abilities.

Your delivery is impeccable.
The Ice Dragon Prodigy is a dope moniker. Even Shunsai said Hitsugaya has the potential to be one of the strongest shinigami ever as he gains experience and maturity.
I really want to see more of prime hitsugaya. Hopefully we’ll see more of Adult Bankai Hitsugaya in the hell arc when kubo continues the story
Talking about realistic hairstyles, Ikkaku has peak hair styling out of all characters.
He's so popular to the point that he got a movie about him

I would love to see a video on Fumichicka, idk how alone I am on that but i have always found him to be so interested, from his relationship to Ikakku and squad 11, to the way he intentionally weakens himself by calling his zanpaktou the wrong name due to squad 11's beliefs and values.
Yes been waiting on this one. Toshiro is my favorite captain character
The scarf and the head wrap were an iconic combo and Kubo should’ve kept it 😭😩 he looked SO GOOODT 😍🤩😵💫 11:58
He was always okay as a character personality wise, but I really wish he had more feats to show how much of a prodigy he is.
Exactly
With Yamamoto dead, Hyourinmaru appears to be the single most dangerous Zanpaktou in terms of its potential for causing mass destruction; not the kind of thing you want in the hands of a psychopath.
kubo looks at keyblades when making zanpakuto
in a way
zanpakuto are less key themes but retain all the same qualities keyblades do
some even have the chain... some even have a piece on the end of the chain
i love how everyone is inspired by eachother keyblades and zanpakuto are cool, im sure some noble phantasm from fate is involved in his design research too
It's good to see you do a video on hitsugaya even though I know he's not one of your favorites.
Would have been cool to swap Yamamoto and Toshiro, young prodigy Yama with Ryujin Jakka and 2000 year old Toshiro with a mastered Hyourinmaru
My headcanon is that hundreds of years in the future Toshiro will be the ice equivalent of Yamamoto. It'd would've been neat to have Yamamoto acknoledge his strength at some point like this.
Exactly
I think the way the drug worked is that Hitsugaya’s mind starts working so fast his body can’t keep up.
He perfectly predicts what would happen it’s so clear in his mind it feels real and than when he thinks it’s over he realises that he was just standing there imagining how the fight would go.
Still my favorite side character and captain. Little Shiro is my dude!! Used to be my Facebook profile picture lol
The cold never bothered him anyway.
Where is that line from?
Imagine this : 200years in the future, Shunsui wants a worthy future commander to replace him if something bad should happen to him, asks the Zero Squad to have Toshiro stay and train in the Royal palace exceptionally so he can master every aspect of the shinigami powers. They would never take him, but just imagine
Never say never thought
MrTommo, this thumbnail might be my favorite one yet. Very cool 👍🏼
People dismiss how young he is 🥴 he's literally captain level already, and amongst the top tier, even the New commander says he'll surpass him
Please consider making a bleach complete character tier list as your overall deep knowledge about each character would make it an interesting and fair list to watch
Although non canon, Hitsugaya has a movie! They dedicated a movie for him!
Toshiro is the main character of the B plot in the Soul Society arc.
Bro I stopped reading Bleach during the Fullbringer arc but since I found your channel I cannot stop watching these videos. The way you narrate is so captivating, love listening to you while I draw or play videogames!
simply put, i love toshiro hitsugaya, im just like him fr
Although Toshiro may be kinda sterned, he has a growing way of appreciating those around him and feels honored.👍🏿🇯🇲😉
I have no idea but if a Bankai can learn multiple techniques it would be interesting to know if it has a limit and if it depends on the limit that particular Shinigami can reach or would it allow a Shinigami to progress in power the more techniques they unlock.
ok I think ... I think... let me say this...Matsumoto standing near to Toshiro in nearly every frame boosted his appeal too
Something i find really funny about Toshiro's design is that he looks like a tiny version of Vergil from devil may cry
I’ve always viewed Toshiro’s bankai as the ice equivalent of Yamamoto’s fire bankai. Both have various abilities, the only difference thus far is one is younger and less developed.

Honestly it does feel like one day he will be filling Yamamoto's shoes.

SS arc Toshi looks SO much like a Zatch Bell character
I didn't realize he cut through his sheath when he first fought Aizen, just goes to show how mad he was then
Toshiro is a pretty cool character. His undoing is Byakuya and Kenpachi who are seen often and are the most popular along with Toshiro. They are both more interesting and stronger than him throughout the entire story. There's also the fact that he's still comparatively young and inexperienced. This causes him to lose many fights by losing control.

I like how Hitsugaya has the same dub VA as Neji from Naruto
When are you gonna do a recap of the first cour of the anime ? I'm really excited for that one !!! Also, a video of everything they should include in the second cour would be nice : things like foreshadowings they should put in there (plot/silver arrow, the Issei's blade), as well as scenes from CFYOW like Gremmy and Liltotto talking when he is in his cell....
Favorite Hitsugaya moment is when he transforms into his adult form and Rukia thinks it's his older brother , though not once having seen "him serve" in the Gotei 13. 😂😂😂
it was renji
And it makes sense that he got all the screen time and was placed in the town with inchigo because ishin was his previous captain
Question about Hitsugaya, is there any adverse effects on him after Mayuri heals him from being a zombie? Or is he just 100% fine
Most probably completely fine
My favorite captain. I love dragons.

I know it's controversial but I believe Soi-Fon being delegated to lead the Advance Squad in early Arrancar fight would be better than Hitsugaya. She looks more like other school students and it would help people like her a bit more.

OK toshiro is overrated , that's true , kubo shoves him in our faces but hardly developed him as a character, and it's popular to crap on him if you focus only on powerscaling , but overall , toshiro is a pretty solid character . I really cringe when fans say he's the weakest or the worst character, because neither of that is true , and some people don't even criticize him correctly, I remember one idiotic RUclips who called toshiro " the Justin beiber of bleach ." If toshiro was written better , he could have been bleach's equivalent to Killua from hiatus x hiatus, I mean hunter x hunter .
how did Kubo "hardly develop him as a character", did Toushirou need to do a particular activity in your eyes?
How did the two top officers of his division not recognize their old captain? They were the in his house?
Kubo stated once that they did know ichigo and his sisters were the kids of their former captain but didn’t want to say anything to his family or him at the time
I love him.
I’m still waiting for a bleach video game. You think they will ever release one ?

Bro said Bleach Brave Souls when the real answer would be Soul Resurrection 2
