My Current PoB: pobb.in/GM6Nvl...
Hopefully this inspires more Ice spear fanatics to swap over to the what I think is now one of the best and easiest to scale cast on crit skills. This skill goes unnoticed constantly but I believe it to be tremendously powerful. Thanks for watching! Like the video if you did and subscribe for more stuff like this.
Was just about to roll a CoC Frostbolt/Vortex/Nova build and came across this, definitely piqued my interest. What do you think about Nova/Vortex vs Creeping Frost? Budget would be MB plus 350-400 Div.
I randomly found your video and im glad I did! Just rolled a coc ice spear character and was having issues when the spears were hitting random white, i wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong, but it felt pretty bad even with pierce on gloves.
I hadn't done a coc with mageblood in a couple leagues and last time i did it was with forbidden rite, but i had heard people talking about coc ice spear, and poe ninja had a bunch with huge dps, so i decided to try it out. I'll try creeping frost out and see how it goes!
Do you happen to have a starter pob?
This looks super comfy, do you think a mirror+ some change is a good starting point for budget on this?
Hey Bikespokes, I’ve been thinking about this build since I saw it a couple weeks ago.
I absolutely love it and want to make it. Do you think it would work fine in standard?
It’s my second league and I’m pretty confident that I won’t make enough 21/20 Penance Brand’s to get it by league end 😂
yes although i think if youre in standard, not using charms, youll probably need to use a legacy ashes of the stars to cover reservation costs
@@Bikespokes Thank you!
I think I finally found where to go from my current coc ice nova build xD
I really wanted to work a mageblood into it since this is the first league I feel like I can afford one but was having trouble figuring out what to do because every which way I fiddled barely increased my damage or defenses. Swapping to frostblink looked like I had a lot more headroom to scale damage but I didn't love the movement.
Do you have any recommendations on what to focus for someone trying to transition from ice nova to this? Your gear is a tiny bit insane and some things are likely completely impossible for me to get. Like I think the only way I'm getting a power charge ring is a circle of fear cause whenever I look at the trade site the only +1 implicit rings are jenebu's mirror service stuff and I don't think I'll ever afford a mirror for a single item.
if not a circle of fear or power charge ring is completely out of the question then you can just go for a rare spel damage per power ring but focus on crit capping if you do that as you might have crit issues if you lose power charges. In that case you could do things like swap the projectile cmedium clusters for basics of pain or quick getaway and pressure points medium crit clusters. make sure to pay attention to your trigger rate and get it as close to 10 as possible. the helmet you can use crown of the inward eye (with corrupted power charge) for defences or use nearby enemies have -12% cold res + power charge influenced helmet. for the amulet instead of a focused amulet you can use a dragonfangs flight with +3 to all creeping frost amulet. for the dagger you can use a +1 to all cold fractured imperial skean, for the body armor you can use a skin of the lords with unwavering stance or glancing blows. do make sure to get stun immunity somewhere in the build. the rest of the build is pretty cheap. the watchers eye you could settle for just crit chance hatred and add 1 source of energy shield leech (the small node attached to the light eater cluster) in the passive tree. instead of a projectile charm you can use another flat crit while at maximum power charges charm. the rest of the jewels are kind of not changeable (unless you have a skin of the lords thats granting glancing blows then you can change the thread of hope) hopefully this gives you a base to work with! if you have additional questions feel free to ask in the discord (link in description). much love!
Even back then when alt gem Ice Spears give pierce exist,I always use the one that give cold damage on quality not the pierce version because the 2nd form of Ice Spear is always pierce, you only need 1 pierce just to make sure the spear can have bit of room for transform to 2nd form
You can get pierce from gloves craft or as for me I solved it with projectile medium cluster "Aerodynamics" while still can get "Eye to eye" along with it
For how I build my ice spear this current version is a buff,I'm not losing anything I never care about alt ice spear pierce gem in 1st place.
I understand you like creeping frost now, that's totaly fine, but Ice Spear dead skill because losing alt gem that give pierce,I mean cmon bro..
it is a click bait title, i'll admit. but welcome to being a small youtuber :P . i was moreso trying to explain why i think creeping frost is all around a better skill but yeah its not dead in the water, i just think its similar to how people run caustic arrow and toxic rain, one just feels strictly better than the other. but i do understand what youre saying and yes, itll take a lot more than removing pierce from the alt quality to kill a skill.
what are your wings called?
How did you get your mana cost to 0 with Creeping Frost?
Inspiration support, mana cost suffix on flask and rings with -7 cost
What effects are those on the cyclone and the explosions?
celestial cyclone, automaton herald effect
wasn't sure if it was in the video: how are you getting 9 projectiles?
1 from skill, +5 from awakened greater multi proj, +1 from charm, +2 from dying sun
any other lower budget items could be used? 1 mirror for a helm and 1 mirror for a dagger is a lot o.X
+1 power charge / nearby enemies have -12% cold res influenced helmet and a fractured +1 all cold spell dagger is a very solid budget choice
What about with nimis? Doesn't that keep ice spear alive
bump
thats my point though completely. creeping frost doesnt require losing a power charge and basically forgoing a whole item just to handle its issues. ice spear isnt dead, there are work around but personally, i think creeping frost is strictly better for the reason that it doesnt require any extra steps or sacrifices to make it function, it just works as is and doesnt require lowering your damage for things like pierce and aoe coverage.
What causes the enemies to "blow up" with that large blue cloud? I need that.
It's Herald of Ice mtx. I think it's called Automation. Different colors for different heralds :)
how does it compare in the energy blade versions?
i feel like the best energy blade versions are on templar and i personally think that any solid cast on crit skill works great with the energy / spellblade versions since your damage scales from alternative sources. since youre scaling ES/HP for damage instead of cold damage it probably is worse for creeping frost vs ice spear or eye of winter
Honestly just really want to know what mtx makes your explosion/herald look that amazing.. xd
i agree, just put a creeping frost in my setup and it feels better at mapping and shotgunning bosses than ice spear indeed
What’s the approx budget of the build?
700+ div
Doable with 180d about half dmg, still a lot
How to reach so much with just 180d?@@caiomocaestudios2887
The pob is a bit misleading, you lose around a quarter of your damage because it assumes max inspiration charges, but you can't gain inspiration charges because your mana costs are 0 - really cool build regardless though!
its not misleading at all. im always at 5 inspiration charges because cyclone costs 1 mana.
Same thing on icenova vs vortex, vortex just low-key better 🎉🎉
hard agree
trying to figure out ice spear this league was awful lol
where is the budget POB?? No one ever makes builds for poor guys in POE now do they??
its not a build guide :shrugs:
Would you consider making one?
Id say u can’t really make this budget, it’s just not gonna work. There won’t be damage or there won’t be Defence if u cut the costs
Coc builds just feel awful without mageblood most of the time, there’s plenty of budget builds out there, this just isn’t one of them
