One of the most beautiful cemeteries in the country can be found in Baltimore City. For today’s video, please enjoy this introduction to Green Mount Cemetery. We are also excited to announce that we are holding 4 in-person tours there starting in April! Space is limited, please see baltimoreheritage.org for more information!
This is our series called "Five Minute Histories." Twice a week, we’ll record a short video about a different historic place in Baltimore and post it on our Facebook page and website.

The last time I've been here was in the winter of 2020-2021. I took some photos of the snow there for my Instagram page. I did a social media post where I took a photo of the ouija board gravestone and located the place where Elijah Bond named the ouija board. There is a 7-eleven convenience store in Mt. Vernon with a history plaque telling the history of the origin of the ouija board.

I would like to take a tour one day. I lived on the 1700 block of Barclay St from 1960-1975. We could see the cemetery from our kitchen window. It always looked spooky.

As many times as I’ve been past this place, I never noticed a chapel. Probably because I was more focused on getting out of that area alive. Didn’t want to be a permanent resident there.
