    Good job recalling that distant time. I grew up watching the AFL progress to equality, something I hoped I’d see the ABA do as well. Interesting that the two teams from the first AFL season who still have the same city name and nickname are the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills.

    As a youngster who lived through it all, I can tell you the AFL was more exciting to watch except one team in Wisconsin that demanded your attention.

      Yes, as a kid the AFC West was just a four team fist fight and brawl. Raiders, Chargers Chiefs and Broncos. So fun,bench clearing fun

    The Chargers coach was Sid Gillman, not Gilmore. And neither the then owner of the Chargers, or the Oilers, now Titans, are in the Hall of Fame. The only AFL owners in Canton are Lamar Hunt, Ralph Wilson and Al Davis.
