I would love to be sitting in a chair, with the cape around my neck, while you're standing behind the chair giving me a haircut like you're giving yourself, and just sit there enjoying every minute of the haircut you're giving me.
Bro the title of the video doesn't lie,I watched a bunch of tutorials and they either go thru the process fast and they don't explain in detail of what they doing. Alot of them don't even show what they mean by closed/open lever. Plus they don't cut their own hair like most of us are trying to do. Plus you gave yourself a fade without 1.5 guards like alot of every day Joe's that don't have those guard's. You killed it bro.
Just thought id let you know, ive been coming back to this video for almost 2 years now, have done probably 15 self cuts following this video everytime. The other day I was in Subway and some guys came up to me asking where I get my hair cut lol. I told them its a self cut from a RUclips tutorial…. Felt so good lol. Anyway appreciate the instructions man 😎
I legit just got done with cutting my hair using this tutorial and it came out perfect. It was my first time too. People were asking me who my barber was and I was honored to say myself. Thank you so much for making it simple, quick, and easy. With lining myself up too, it took at least 1 hr and some change. 😊
For real man? This helped you so much that you nailed your very first time?? That's so so encouraging to me because Ive been so frustrated needing and wanting to cut my own but worrying that i could never do it this professional looking. Always thought it would be too hard. I do my own already but just use one guard and take it all off one length only, cause i never felt like i could do a fade. Thanks man
No matter what haircut I want very little tools no name brand and getting blurry even if it takes me a day we in quaritine lol definitely not saying put your Barber out of business it's much simpler having him do it or her
1. no guard -Close(first guideline) 2. no guard-open (second guideline) 3. #1-Open 4. #2-Open -Go STRAIGHT up like your head is a box. Erase Guidelines. TAKE YOUR TIME. Erase first guideline. 5. If it doesn't erase and you don't have a .5 guard, use clipper with no guard (all the way open) and only use corners. The very top of the fade. 9. #2-Close 10. #1-Open corner of blade to touch up.
Dude this is legit best video on how to fade. I started using it at the beginning of corona virus lock down and to this day im still fading my own hair. My barber keeps texting me asking where I been lol you saved me 40 bucks a week . Thanks bro
Right off the bat i'm super impressed by this guys skills, you can tell he's cut his own hair many times by the sheer speed and accuracy of his strokes during the steps! Amazing skill when doing that to your own head!
Update: this tutorial is hands down the best, with this technique and not needing the .5guard it came out great. No harsh guidelines in place. Cheers for the tips Andrew
I cant believe how good this actually came out, i never thought i would learn to give myself a fade, let alone a good one on the first try.. im in awe, i feel so accomplished rn You’re awesome for this upload brah🙏
I'm super grateful for this video because I was trying to save money on haircuts. The barbers around my area are now charging insane prices especially since I'm now on a budget.
I just started cutting my own hair, and have been watching tons of self-cut tutorials. Yours, by far, is the clearest and simplest to follow. Great content. Keep up the awesome work. Thank you ✊
Thank for making this possible, here in Nigeria (Africa) you hardly see clippers with the 0.5 & 1.5 guard. So the lines created at clipper open and 1 guard close are most often not taken out completely. This will help me a lot next time in the shop when giving a haircut. Almost done with my barber apprenticeship relationship with my master. Once again thank you for this.
Good work. Been doing this for 15+ years. Even cut my own hair for my wedding day. Getting to that point wasn't easy. Many rough trims in high school. Keys to a good trim is confidence, time, two shavers one for lines the other for cutting, mirror positioning for two mirrors and lighting. Bit of music can help to determine how your hair cut will turn out too.
True about the music, helps for me. I just started cutting my own hair days ago, still kinda nervous to use the equipment but music and some hemp helps lol Did my 1st ever haircut on one of my fam members and not bad for a newbie
Thank you for showing/writing exactly which guard and lever positions you were using. I've watched too many DIY tutorials that are supposedly catered to those of us who don't know what we're doing, but the barbers switch guides and levers without saying or showing it, and then I get confused. Thank you for taking your time and not rushing through the video so that we can easily follow along.
I love the simplicity of this cut. Especially for a beginner, this seems very encouraging. Thanks to lockdown, I have now taken it upon myself to cut my own hair and I will see how it goes. Great video. Keep it up!
for a year (because of corona) i’ve been curing my own hair and always mess up with that second guide like because i don’t have a .5 guard, i’ve been too lazy/forget about it lol. this video just changed the game for me! the best self cut i’ve ever given myself after this vid!! thank you!!!
Had long hair for the last 20 years, lost it all to chemo in Feb. Cancer free, but was Q-Ballin’ it for 3 or 4 months till it started to grow back. I made the mistake of going to Supercuts and they charged me 30 bones for basically nothing- Never Again, fellas. Ive always been handy w the clippers but never tried doin a fade- Ive done it maybe 6 or 7 times now and im lovin it! It looks dope and I can ALWAYS keep it fresh!! For me, the trickiest part was doin the “cornering” with the blade to kill the line…but it works!! Thanks for the vid man- changed my life ! 🙏
Have to chime-in just to say, "thanks". This tutorial has actually helped me accomplish some decent fades starting from the very first time. I just started shortening the distance between the guidelines to get the fade I really want. Another couple of haircuts and I hope to be right where I want with hairstyle and skill to maintain it myself. The title is the truth.
Dude ur awesome! Your the first person that shows us how to do it without a zero guard 1.5 guard; the substitutions we can do if we don’t have them. Started cutting my hair recently so this video was helpful! 😄
Great video, you explain everything so simply, all can understand. I'm a retired Barber and I give myself bald fades holding a hand held mirror, which is a pain, but it works. I'd like to see your setup that shows your hands free way of cutting. Thanks for sharing.
Been cutting my own hair for over a year now, and I’ve been following this video for months. Really great results so far. Big ups man Edit: Been 3 years and still going good!
Just did my hair for the first time today. Difficulty with those lines and mirrors , what a pain. Overall confident after a few attempts I’ll get it. Me personally I lack the motions as smooth to just use the corners. Mad respect to this guy for making it look so effortless
Normally I never comment on RUclips videos but in this case, I have to. That’s simply because I‘d like to thank you for sharing your haircut tutorial with us while explaining all the steps and beyond. With your help, I‘m able to cut my own perfect buzz cut! ❤
I never write comments, but I’ve seen a lot of self cut videos and this is by far the best one I’ve seen at explaining the process. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work.
Moved to a new house, tried 4-5 different barbers. They all sucked! I got my own clippers and been following the steps on this vid for the last 5-6 haircuts. Had to make some small adjustments here n there to get my hair the way I like it. But I am slowly getting there. My last haircut was the best one so far. Looked almost professional. Taking my time and being really meticulous really helps. My last haircut took me 2 hrs! lol but it was so worth it! Saving so much money by doing it myself.
Man. Thank you for this self cut tutorial. I just cut my hair tonight for the second time. As much as I watch videos to learn a system. This system is great and easy to remember. My mid fades are wack but I’m very happy that it doesn’t look like a chili bowl. Lol. I will definitely get better with time.
Loved this guide man! Been tryna find a guide that doesn't use half guards as most kits don't come with them. You making us boys look fresh during quarantine!
Been looking for awhile for somthing like this n hands down looking on most RUclips videos this is the only one that’s told in a simple form and 100% related to the title of the video Thankyou!
Alright just did this for the first time with legit clippers... ngl considering it was my first time doing it myself it turned out pretty good so I can confirm this video is cool proof because I was able to do it with success the first time so go wild y’all 🤘
Thank u man actually trying to help people and explaining what you do. When you adjusted the lever and talked about flicking the line up it helped so much with understanding how barbers fade.
Tried this out myself. Beware that it is waaaaaay harder than it looks to do this yourself. Ended up showing my girlfriend the vid and she finished it off for me and everything went well.
I cant thank you enough brother. Ive been trying to do my own fades the last few months but trial and error its just a case of waiting for it to grow back. I watched you video a few times took my time and wow my first attempt watching your method and it looks fantastic honestly im buzzing and so happy i found your advice. Well worth a sub mate. Massive respect to you from across the pond 🇬🇧👍😎🇺🇸
Thank you so much for this video. I’m been practicing a lot on myself lately and this video was awesome. What a great tutorial and I understood the assignment 👌🏾
Great job bro! One of the most valuable videos I’ve came across. You answering the question of not having a half guard was exactly what I was looking for without even realizing I needed the answer to that question.
I truly believe Supercuts, Sportsclips, Fantastic Sams and that type hire people off the street. NEVER once had a decent cut at any of these places. Amateurs who have no clue whatsoever how to pull off a fade. Walking out looking like you lost a bet which involved letting a blind epileptic diabetic crashing cut your hair. No disrespect to anyone just trying to drive home the point how terrible most of those chain places are.
Thanks man explaining. My boy getting older and wants to look fresh for school, I've been practicing on him. Been messing up had to bring some of my friends to fix it. But I'm learning.
I’ve been fucking my head up ever since I got on campus because my clippers didn’t come with half-guards. This is the video that saved my hair, thank you man.
Since covid and everything closed i bought a good expensive clipper and also start doing my own hair. Havent seen a barber since. But alot of people couldnt believe i did it myself 😂 So that was a huge compliment. People even asked if i wanted to to their hair. Its a really cool skill to have. At first i was doing my haircut and was busy for over an hour. Now im done in 25, because my hair is longer on top and i also have to cut that. Its not always 100% clean but hey 🤷♂️ what can you do. This tutorual is very very accurate 👌🏾
Fire video!!! I’ve been cutting my hair for 3 months now and found this video very helpful. I’ve cut my lil brothers hair in the past and this video was honestly very clear to understand and helpful for new barbers since you only use the clipper in the beginning and just 2 guards. Easy for a beginner to follow and not get discouraged their first time.
i like that pro tip explaining the use of the corners in absence of a guard to finish off a fade. This is great stuff to learn. Just cut my hair today, straight hair Asian poofy buzz cut down to a 3 on top, 1.5 on the sides and like a .5 bottom and rear. The light is to my 2 o clock so it was kinda hard to get a sense of the lines even with a hand mirror but i made it work, in direct light it really makes the fade like not appear until you are in a darker lit room. Anyways, great video you put toghether explaining stuff
This video is the one that made the most sense to me for some reason, I just can’t do the back of my head🤣 my hand eye coordination for the back of my head isn’t good I guess so now I have a solid line only on the back of my head lmfaoo
this is a dope video man. I learned allot from this. been cutting my own hair since I was 15. and always had a hard time figuring out how blend my lines this easy. thank you for this, I'm definitely going to use this technique for my next self fade. thanks man, just got yourself a new subby.
Bro I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart this is the best video on RUclips for self cut, you helped me learn how to cut my own hair bro thank you so much I can finally do it you are the GOAT bro 🐐🐐🐐
Trying to give my son a haircut and I have been wanting to do this for like the past twenty years. So, I feel confident after watching your video here, you did a great job explaining it. Thank you for your help and wish me luck. About to do it now 🙏🙏🙏
The best tutorial I found foreal. Clear and simple. Plus I dont have all the fancy stuff most tutorials talk about. Good content man keep it up! I am trying to learn how to do this on my own! Appreciate it!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I too went through numerous videos and this was by far the best. I am extremely happy with my first attempt at fading my own hair. Can’t wait to get after it again in a few weeks.
Awesome video man. I would say to add in another way to further explain using the corners of the clippers is that you get a little more of a gap between the edge of the blade, because the cutting blade that is moving doesn't completely meet the stationary blade.
Thank you for explaining properly how you knock out each individual fade line. I’ve been cutting my own hair lately & have watched other videos & I don’t think I’ve heard them describe fading the lines out like you. That’s the hardest part for me as a beginner. I do the initial guideline great, but end up making my fade lines too high. I wasn’t going up a little, then opening the blade for each guideline. I was also using the whole blade, instead of the corner to break up the lines. Luckily I’ve got a .5 guard so I’m looking forward to trying this out again. Thanks!
I've seen dozens of tutorials on RUclips and this one is by far the best
I agree!
nopw
I would love to be sitting in a chair, with the cape around my neck, while you're standing behind the chair giving me a haircut like you're giving yourself, and just sit there enjoying every minute of the haircut you're giving me.
I could not understand 1 open 1 open means😢
This is the best tutorial on the youtube i swear, most of the tutorials require .5 or 1.5 wich many people don't have, thank you.
Fr Angel
Facts!
Agreed 👍
The open lever acts as a half to whatever number you have on. So if you have a 1 guard on and lever is open, that’s a 1.5
Lewis Cook what about if it’s open halfway on a guard one does that mean 1.5? And if ur on guard one full does that mean ur on guests 2
Thank you bro I really appreciate it. God bless🙏🙌🙌

mate you are a fucking legend thank you
Loved the video. Can you do another video with the zero guard and 1.5 guard? Thanks
Measurement in beard trimmer please. I dont have a clipper.. and its pricy
This is the first explanation I can understand and could actually follow after watching like 12 videos of fade tutorials. thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the comment!🙏🙌

Great video. I love it because you keep it simple and don’t put 42 guards on throughout the process. Thank you

Thanks man explaining. My boy getting older and wants to look fresh for school, I've been practicing on him. Been messing up had to bring some of my friends to fix it. But I'm learning.
If we have a 0 (1/2) guard, do we start that second line of the fade open or closed? Thanks!
Start open, if you can’t get the line erased with that then close it
I’ve been fucking my head up ever since I got on campus because my clippers didn’t come with half-guards. This is the video that saved my hair, thank you man.
On my wahl clipper it don’t have marks where the adjusting lever is do I just free ball it? I.e. Quarter, 3/4quarter etc
Yes you don’t need to have to notches, you can kind of just guess where halfway, 3/4 etc is
Been self barbering and cutting a few ppl's hair for 2 years and never knew that corner of the clipper technique. very interesting!!!!
that line at the end ruined the whole cut.
Totally agree
Thank goodness it wasn’t you head
Thank you every vid on YT need .5 or 1.5, and they make it super complicated, but you just simply taught us how to, you earn a sub.
Was a great trim until you put that stupid line in at the end. Totally ruined the look!

Cut my hair with this vid two weeks ago and it came out great. Doing it again today
Used this 4 times already. Thank you
Thanks dude, great tutorial. I'm very happy with the result I got even tho I didn't do the lines perfectly even. The fading kinda did its magic.
This video is the one that made the most sense to me for some reason, I just can’t do the back of my head🤣 my hand eye coordination for the back of my head isn’t good I guess so now I have a solid line only on the back of my head lmfaoo
I got just one clipper with only 3 guards, you've really helped me bruh
I really like this videos because you cut your hair really well in such a short amount of time. Definitely gonna save me time and money

MAN O MAN...4X FOLLOWING THIS VIDEO AND I FINALLY PERFECTED IT.... THIS HANDS DOWN IS THE BEST RUclips TUTORIAL 🙌 LOVE IT!!! FUK
Wish I would've found this before I spent over $300 on high quality clippers and trimmers. Incredible stuff dude
Best tutorial on youtube hands down
Awesome video man.
Thanks!
Best fading tutorial I have found so far thanks
