Used this for the first time, first time cutting my own hair, and I can’t believe it turned out so well. I took it slow, but this video was so reassuring as I went for it. Never had a buzz cut but why not? Also played the video back multiples times as I was cutting to make sure I got it! Thanks for your time and this video!
My husband has been buzzing his hair for 13 years and it always looks super sexy. I always wondered how the heck he does that. Super fast too. Good luck everyone!
Hey, I’ve been through chemo treatment. I did a buzz cut for the first time ever in my life because of the treatment. And if I can get through chemo, you can too. God bless.
Great HowTo! I was just a few sweeps away from perfection then the guard came off and I laid a track straight up the middle that made me look like a skunk. 🤘🤪🤘
i just used my pube mower and I've never stopped. Once or twice a year I shave it all off. First time looking up a guide. Helped a lot lol wish I saw this sooner
Hope i got all right: Start with 2 guard (it's 6mm), from front to back, keep the clipper nice and flat to the skull while cutting. Clean the hair between the blades throughout the cut, otherwise you'll have different heights forming shades on the head. After making all even, move to 1 guard (the 3mm) and pull the lever back, it will make the clipper rise a little bit and you'll get a 1.5 guard or 4.5mm. Start from the back and work only until the curvature of the head, don't go all to the top. Then push the lever back to place to have a hard 3mm cut, by leaning the head you can get to the side and back easily without going for the curvature, it'll blend the 4.5mm and 3mm pretty nicely. Make sure you go in different directions to cut all the hair and not leave shades on. To finish, use the 0.5 guard (1.5mm) or use the clipper without a guard tool with the lever pulled to form a 1.5mm distance between the blades. With this you are able to do the edges by scooping big spoons of ice cream out of it, this way your cut will not be sharp as commonly seen in homecut hairs.
This was an absolute pleasure to watch in a way that I hadn't expected coming in. You have a lovely disposition for video, Dennis, and I could listen to your voice all day.
I did it today and I am so scared of my mom 😭 I’ve decided to hide it until i can but I’m so happy with the end result. I used my dad’s 12mm clipper guard
This is great, man. Thanks. Won’t be trying the fade part anytime soon, I’ll just do the one-size all over to start off. The blending part is what I’m most nervous about.
Really not necessary with a no 1 cut just trim ears and neckline and your done. With my hair you can mess around fading but two days of growth and not even aware of it.
Ok, made the first cut! I hadn't had a haircut in over 12 months, due to outrageous prices for terrible cuts in the remote Australian city I live in. Yep, no going back now. I don't have the short guards as in the video. But used a 3mm guide. Followed basic steps in this how to video. Although I couldn't get a proper blend/fade (neither can local barbers) gave myself a bloody good haircut. Thank you for an excellent video on how to use clippers! One tip, I went to a local giant hardware chain store and bought a really cheap plastic drop sheet in their painting section. Spread that out first then sat a stool in the middle before cutting my hair. Wrapped up the lot in one go afterwards. Two mirrors essential!
Just got myself a pair of Classic 76s, looking forward to giving this a shot myself! Been years since I wore a buzzcut, always liked it, and now have an excuse to go back to it!
@T.J. So I finally got around trying it and it didn't turn out awful! It took me wayyy longer tho cause I started with longer hair. Plus probably gonna ask my flatmate later for help with cleaning up the neck hair
"That hairline isn't as strong as it used to be." That's why I want to shave my own head down. At this point I should be getting a 50% discount at the barber's because they have to put in half the work lmao.
Super directions mate. 👌 After looking like a 70s footballer for the last month... 😬 I borrowed a proper pair of WAHL barber clippers, watched this and just went for it. For a guy with shaky hands and a bit of an odd-shaped, balding skull it actually looks half decent. Will be sticking with the number 2 buzz cut all over from here on it. Cheers pal. 👍
Tried to do it, went very well until I forgot to put the guard on after cleaning the clippers after doing the top. Had to go bald. But I really like the result, thank you for your help
I buzzed my hair short for the first time this week. Your video gave me a lot of courage. Thanks. Sadly, I realized that my bald spot at the top is bigger than I thought so the next step is to shave it off. I haven't worked up the courage to do that yet.
Dunno about him but the 6mm to 3mm guides on this vid helps for me. I don't have the 1.5 guard (as expected), and I only used a cheapo Chinese hair clipper, but aside from the minor imperfections like no shading on the back of the ears and on the neck... It's pretty good. Took me 1.5 hours for my first self-cut though.
This a great video on how to do a buzzcut. I have been cutting my own hair due to the lockdown. I found that due to having fine hair a number 3 top and 2 on the sides works better for me. I have friend that is a hairdresser and she said shaving the neckline is very important. You said the same. Great video. 👍👍👍
Got to say a huge thank you for this video. I was starting to look like Chewbacca, so took the plunge after watching this video and I'm very pleased with the results!
I’ve been buzzing my hair for years with no tutorial, I was looking up how to do a fade though and this showed up. I just put my clippers on 2 and buzz away. Super easy and you can’t mess it up if you tried, that’s what the guards for.
Thankyou for posting this easy to follow tutorial. I have been attempting lockdown buzz cuts with varying degrees of success! After watching this video and purchasing .5 and 1.5 guards i have just completed a 5 star buzz( well i think so anyway) 👍
After you made that first cut, I said SHIT out loud. Not that it was bad or anything, but I thought that looks scary. Not wrong when you said not going to back out now! Going to finish this video before trying it myself.
I'm getting bald. I don't complain at all coz I'm 45 now and this has been happening really slowly since I was 27. I'm actually considering doing that to my hair. It looks fresh and clean.
My 3rd video and first one to talk about the sweeping motions. I can see that to be able to change to lower, closer settings. We are totally shut down again as of yesterday. Only 2 barbers in the town we retired to, so I’m going to try it on my BF. He is mostly bald anyway. We have a Wahl personal groomer. Was thinking to use that for cleaning up. Will see. I use power tools. Ha yeah, could get the chain saw out! Good instructions. Just rounds off the other videos I watched to be more confident. Thanks!
Working up the nerve to do this for myself. I happen to have fairly nice clippers, but I'm a a little short in the courage to try! Thanks, this is a great clip! (pun? what pun?)
Very interesting! I am still learning to buzzcut my own hair and after doing it three times I realized that I wasn’t holding the clippers the right way! So I was missing some areas which resulted in longer hair. After making this slight adjustment I am sure I will do better.
Have no adjuster on my clipper it's a beard trimmer. One size for me short blending waste if time will blend itself in couple days of normal growing hair grows fast
I somehow made a mistake and cut it wayyy to short 😂 looks like a razor shaved it. But Its all good, I'll own it and it will grow in a week or two, hopefully. Apart from that, nice video!
Well lads I'm going in. A couple shots of liquid courage at 4:30am and it's time to get buzzy with it Put it on your resume you got a lad whos never even held clippers with a fine looking buzz. I'd have paid 15 quid for that really though thanks man couldn't have done it without this

Just tried this maybe cut your hair if it's long before or it's hard to trim🤣 you can still do it just takes longer, also make sure your trimmer thingy is charged mine died halfway through 🤣 if your unsure do a bigger size as once it's gone it's gone👌
Ok, these are the Wahl 100th anniversary ltd edition. That's very hard to find so, which would be a great alternative? That still keeps all the functionality of the 100th edition but can be obtained. Thanks.

They are the Wahl 100yr anniversary limited edition (about $160) I’m sure there is a Wahl version that must be almost the same but cheaper - but that’s exactly which one he’s using

Third time following these directions. Thanks mate! You have so far saved me over $100 in hair cutting costs!
