    It has to be eaten after 3 to 4hrs, only then the mustard and tamarind will mature and give a great taste. A typical south Indian dish.
    My grandmother used to prepare with a slight variation. She would grind fresh coconut, green chillies, tamarind and mustard, mix it with rice and temper it with mustard seeds, urad dal, peanuts, curry leaves, red chillies, turmeric powder, hing, and then add freshly chopped coriander leaves while mixing the tempering and the ground paste with the piping hot rice. She would serve only after 4hrs.

    Very nice recipe. Adding a spoon of copra grated or powder will give a good taste.

    This known as kayi sasive anna in karnataka ..we add dry coconut roasted while grinding the spices

      Ya but in this recipie without jaggery it will be gud and with jaggery is a different recipe. There are many recipes related tamarind rice
