This was pretty cool! My favorite character was Ben Dixon when I was a kid back in the 80’s. It had an impact on me when he died. I remember how I couldn’t believe it that one of the main characters was killed off back then. I mean Roy Fokker was a shock but when Ben went too my friends and I were like anyone can be next! Never had an anxiety filled thrill watching a “cartoon” like when we watched Robotech. I can’t wait when they finally cut through the red tape and make a live action movie. I believe that people will enjoy the characters and get emotionally connected with them. Just with the Macross Saga alone they can make a great trilogy. To see real actors playing Rick, Max and Ben would be incredible.
I would like to see an updated version of Macross original with this kind of animation its too bad Harmony Gold won't anytime soon prior their franchise license expires.
Almost every animator of Macross always get the scales of battlepods:veritechs wrong. The pods are much much larger then veritechs. The pod pilots are the size of a veritech in battloid configuration.
Impressive graphics but no sense of scale... 1:30 is impossible since the enemy pilots (giants) is almost the same size as the battroids (valkyrie in robot mode)... So how could it simply stuck its mecha guns into the nose of the enemy pod considering the cockpit will be big enough to fit the battroid which is of the same size as the enemy giant pilot.
Yup, all the regults and especially the officer pod are massive compared to battroids. If you remember in the second episode of the original series when Hikaru accidentally tackles a regult while in Gerwalk mode, he clips it under the knees. It also bugs me that the pilots in this clip are using what appears to be a mini 'Daedalus Attack', ramming their gunpods into their armored target before firing. The problem is, those gunpods aren't protected by the barrier system like the Daedalus was.. they would be wrecking their equipment doing that. It irks me every time I see it.
The only thing I had against the Macross anime was the dumbass love triangle never really finding an end until the end of the show. Otherwise, the anime was awesome, though I very much prefer the movie, Do You Remember Love considering it fixes that issue and makes things a Hell of a lot more awesome.
Yeah. The beautiful, bizarre & bonkers finale of DYRL is absolutely unlike any other 'Space Opera' EVER. Minmay sweetly sings "Ai O Oboete Imasu Ka" while, Rick (& literally, a million men) fight to their cold, bloody deaths in space rescuing Humanity from extinction. >DaFuQ?!< Only the "Battlestar: Galactica'" finale comes close to Macross' sheer intensity. >sigh

How would it get more love, if Harmony Gold is Squatting on the IP. honestly, it feels that every time anyone mentions their love for Robotech, Harmony Gold will prolong their squatting for 1 month. Let Robotech Die, and make Macross available worldwide again.
I agree with Kevin Korenke. I miss the drawings on how the pods are shredded. Here it's simple smooth animation, then explosion then nothing. Ok, the command pod blows up better but it feels less plastic than the drawings. But if you are happy with that fine with me. And, you have a funny definition of 'every word' :)

Scale has always been an issue for me too it can get jarring if not properly done. I think this was a flaw consistent in the series.
