I'm really pleased this release has cleaned up nicely as some movies of this ilk I remember watching in terrible quality as mentioned yesterday the vipco releases 😬 I'm pretty certain I've never seen anymore than just a few minutes of this movie. I'd gladly give it a watch one day . I love the movie zombie flesh eaters which I don't think I've ever said on the channel, good soundtrack too. Fantastic review John.

Absolutely love the video! Thanks for sharing. I happen to have this on VHS slipcase as Zombie Holocaust. Saw a version on Shudder (or tubi?) same title but with the deleted scene (which looks more like it was shot in Central Park rather than a jungle) and a nonsensical intro with zombies added after the beginning credits.. and the quality is horrible. Regardless, lovely movie that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Really surprising that "Zombi Holocaust" got a 4K release, & that 88 Films are releasing more 4K titles, they are a superb label & go from strength to strength with their releases, on images shown here, its quite decent as they are low budget italian horror movies, its one i didn"t mind for what it was without being too critical.

Good review John, so tempted to get this, but severin are releasing the Doctor Butcher version of it with both cuts, Iv'e not seen the DB cut so not sure if it's worth it, decisions decisions.
It's a funny one....maybe if you haven't got this movie, the Severin might be the way as it has both cuts of the movie, I do prefer the Zombi Holocaust version and obviously you get that barf bag 🤢🤣🤣👍👍

Nice one John. I was quite impressed with the picture when I watched mine Saturday night. The Severin BD looked way better than the 88Films BD. I'm tempted my the Severin 4K just to have both cuts of the film and the barf bag😅 Trev

@@MondoChelloveckMovies Yeah John I've contacted 88 films and they stated they would send me "Hell" sometime this week. They have been really kind when ever I needed an answer to my e-mails. I also get to keep the extra blu ray that I never sent (I only sent them the 4K disc) - so that will mean I can use my uncorrected blu ray one as a "watch disc" while also owning the corrected blu ray one to keep pristine. A special thanks for bringing up the corrected replacement program video in the first place John, it is possible that I would never of known about it without your help👍👍
That deleted scene is on my old DVD copy of the film, it’s probably been sourced from a VHS previously, and I guess they found the original footage. Nonetheless, having any kind of special features was impressive for one of these old VIPCO-esque DVD’s 🤣 The reasons for its original deletion seem obvious to me, that’s definitely no jungle! Looks like the woods near my house actually 😂

Right, first off I apologise because this could be a long post. I have this Zombi Holocaust 4k from 88 Films and am generally happy with it, the difference between the 'before' and 'after' during the restoration demo shows how badly damaged the OCN is, I suspect a lot of work went into cleaning this one up. I am going to be controversial here and say I wish 88 Films had kept the pit sequence as a deleted scene, it was not part of the OCN and was never part of the original Zombi Holocaust cut that was released theatrically in Italy and Europe a couple of years before the US distributors cut the film, changed the title to Dr. Butcher M.D., rescored it, added an opening from a completely different film and added the pit scene which was obviously filmed at a later date. I really wish 88 Films had used seamless branching to give us the option of the original Zombi Holocaust cut and a separate option of watching it with the pit scene back in. The inclusion of this awful pit scene also causes a problem while watching the film with the original Italian audio, since that crappy pit scene was never dubbed into Italian the audio switches back to the English audio complete with the altered US score before changing back to the original Italian audio once it's finished. Very annoying. Looking at the specs for the US 4k it seems to be the same with no option to play the original Italian cut. Also, a quick word about the original US Blu-ray, it is actually missing a 12 second scene of a jeep driving through the jungle, sure it's an unimportant shot but for me it should be there and a cut is a cut, even if the footage is seemingly unimportant. You put the boot into the original 88 Films Blu-ray a little bit but it's actually still the best way to watch the original European cut of Zombi Holocaust rather than a hacked up and/or patched together version. Having said all that I do recommend this 4k release, I do like the film in a trashy sort of way (it's nowhere near as awesome as Burial Ground though), there are some nice bonus features and that artwork is indeed amazing.

I have the same blu ray and haven't watched it yet as I thought I'd seen it so many times already but I haven't actually ever seen it. I got it mixed up with zombie creeping flesh/hell of the living dead which in turn I haven't bought for that reason!!! Some of these films back then have so many different titles and are similar movies!!! I will wait to pick up hell of the living dead though once the errors are fixed and it's been reissued.
The blu ray isn't too bad Jason, great film, just like Zombie Creeping Flesh in its craziness and I agree that it's so easy to get mixed up with these titles....Zombi Holocaust is also called Zombie 3 as well.....there's about 5 of those now 😳😳🤣🤣 yeah I'm sure Hell of the Living Dead will be cool to pick up around Christmas time...if you are unfortunate and get a "wrong" version 88 are carring on the replacement disc scheme for a good few months mate 😊😊👍👍
I Just got myself a 4K Player & 4K TV and watched part of this a few mins ago , i was shocked on how bad the Grain was , I don't know if it is my settings but i didn't like the Grain at all , it was extremely snowy and moving particles aswell. Based on this Movie i am wondering if i have wasted my money on 4K as i was expecting something amazing for viewing Horror movies , but i never realised Zombie Holocaust could look so bad. Is it just me :(
Hey Krugsie, don't get disheartened there mate! This isn't the best 4k out there (although it's a good 4k for this one!) Yeah I would do some homework on a release before picking it up (if it's been out a while) there will be plenty of reviews and comparisons on RUclips or online and you can see what the general option is mate 🤔👍👍 there are some amazing 4k transfers out there, but sometimes they are filmed on lower film stock or even the original elements have been lost so the 4k us being taken of a lesser source 😬 I would say that the majority of 4ks look really good mate. 🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
Last watched this on my friends vhs Dodgy uncut version he had circa 1984 85 , tbh iv never really liked it much i dont own it either , have a good week mate 👍💿🎬

I went to hmv to pick this up and the funhouse re-release today, and once again they no stocking it! Everytime i go they never have what i want, like you i want to see what i buy 1st!!
I was shocked that it wasn't on the shelves! But it turned up late apparently and the guy found them somewhere, didn't go looking for much, didn't see Funhouse anywhere, its important to have things on the shelf on release and I do prefer to buy in person to avoid any potential damage Carl 🤩🤩👍👍

I have the Severin Blu Ray, I think I will keep that, personally I haven’t gone down the 4K route ( I do own a few) but on average £10 extra per disc for slightly better picture quality I just can’t justify upgrading, I’ve already gone from VHS to DVD to Blu Ray. That documentary is also on the Grindhouse release of Cannibal Ferox.

I’ve been waiting for this disc for a while, I think it was meant to come out a few months ago but got delayed. I’m just hoping it doesn’t have any issues like house ok the edge of the park and hell of the living dead did. Excellent video ! 👍🏻

This film is a hoot. Not quite the goofiness level of Burial Ground but still highly entertaining. I didn't even notice the 'insert'! Great review.
