The only problem with greyscale is heathens like me. I want to do that mf without the greyscale or else Im not good enough :3 (i still use it I just feel dirty)
@imcrimson8618 i still also don't use this method really idk i could never seem to grasp it 😭 so i just put on a grayscale layer on top of everything to check my values as i go
@@93quarters37 i dont draw, but its hella useful for photography and videos. I also flick back and forth too, but mannn the feeling of getting it right without having to flicker back and forth is nice
As a beginner these tutorials are really usefull. Better to start off by building good habbits. Clear, to the point, and the occasional meme thrown in for good measure.👌
I only comment on videos like this when they are really helpful and this was REALLY helpful! Clear and concise and with no unnecessary waffle! The zoom-out method was awesome as I've been told to squint at my work and all it does is make it blurry. Wasn't working. This is much better. Thank you!
Thank you for your value and coloring over values tutorials! I can’t wait to start trying out this after creating so many illustrations with the wrong values
You are an inspiration! I love the chunky, friendly shapes of your art and the amount of thought that goes into it. Your tips have been so nice, and they'll help me very much. :)
I cannot thank you enough . I tried using the greyscale first method but found myself using too many values too early and didn’t understand why it wasn’t translating . Thank you !
Just found your channel while searching for greyscale painting, I loved the clarity of your explanation and your voice, thanks for the great content! you are stunning!!
2:13 it becomes really clear when you mean the middleground is unreadable that just when I paused here I finally noticed there was an astronaut resting in the roots
I understand the aerial perspective's effect on values. Neared objects are darker value. How is value impacted say for subjects in midground pr background? Like in your greyscale dragon waterfall painting, the dragon sitting on the rock has somewhat same level of value as the foreground. What is the theory behind this?
Hello your video is really helpful for a beginner like me ! Thanks ! Just one question : do you have made a video about composition ? I m bit of lost with that haha 😅

the turning your pallette into grayscale first is very helpful!! makes it easier to be able match the vibe of a reference thanks!

God, thank you so much! I was so lost in my values study. Now at least I know where I begin with it.

Thank you so much 🥰🥰 I'm really glad these have been helpful!!
Great video! A great artist who has sound advice on color to value or vice versa is Marco Bucci 😁 Thank you for your tips!
Id love to see a remake of that artwork from 2017 and really point out what could’ve been improved step by step!
Yeah it's a good idea actually, I'll probably do it at some point

Not yet! I'll be making one about that soon 😊
I love your accent so much
Thank you so much! Instant sub.
good tips🥰
Any tips on fixing overly dark values? My paintings always end up so dark even in a light mood
A good use of the curve tool in any painting software really helps in this case!
Great video but can you link the translating values to colors video in this comment and the description?
Yep, absolutely! Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/QmVtTaucpj8/видео.html
I'll update the video description as well!
Can you please tell us your layering process for colour?
Thank you 🙏
It's well described in other tutorials on the channel where I show every step 😃😃
🔥🔥
Just one question: any chance you are italian?😅
Yep I am 😃
