I followed these steps to clean and protect the roof on my wife’s Abarth 124. I noticed that there was a patchy look to the roof when I had a look at it in the garage a short while back... I admit it’s probably not entirely dry yet, but I gave the material a wipe over with a soft cloth and it looked all uniform and clean afterwards. Hope it gives good protection over the winter...
Guy is truly a master. Wish he lived in my area to take care of my cars...
Thanks a bunch for posting this. I cleaned my convertible top and still need to protect it with the fabric guard but was dreading cleaning up the over spray. Never thought to use a brush and paint it on, so thanks for that tip.

Loved it. Everything from the thorough (but gentle) cleaning of the roof, to the decanting and careful application of the protectant to avoid paint contamination. That E36 is in fantastic condition. I hope we see her again sometime. Maybe you could do a video dedicated to maintaining older cars? Tips and tricks for dealing with older paintwork, exterior trim, wheels etc? Just a thought.

Great training video Mr. Guru. That tip about putting the Fabric Guard into a cup and applying it with a soft tipped paint brush was BRILLIANT! My wife has a convertible that I treat every few months with Fabric Guard but I never thought about putting it on with a paint brush. That is a great idea and certainly reduces the amount of product you lose in the air from a spray application. Using the paint brush gives you a lot better control and also helps to make the product penetrate into the fibers better than spraying the product alone. I'll definitely be using that tip in the future. And if you buy the GALLON size of Fabric Guard (it saves you money too), the container easily allows you to pour the product as it doesn't come with a sprayer, just a cap closure of the container.

The soft top on my 32 was so bad I ended up using a George wet vac on it, the previous owner had parked it under trees, so half of it was green! Great job, not seen a Compact with that roof before

BMW have their own range of Car Care products, including a Convertible Top Cleaner. There is also a kit you can buy, which includes a selection of the most commonly used products - car shampoo, wheel cleaner, chamois, glass cleaner.
I bet that soft top didnt even look that good when it first rolled out the factory! Cant beat a good Guru video! hes also the reason I spent all my wages on car detailing products during lockdown! Haha I'd love to see how good he could get my 320d msport looking! keep up the good work 👍

There are only a handful on British roads and I've never seen one in the 2 years I've owned the car! They were much more popular in the US as they had the weather!

Nice vid CCG. The car is indeed a rarity and I suspect that sunroof is a Webasto type. They were very popular in the eighties and nineties and if it’s a Webasto was quite expensive. Rolls Royces of the time sometimes had them as a factory fitted option.😳👍😎

Nice end result, but can you do a convertible roof that's in a much worse state to see how clean you can get it? You know the sort I mean, green mould and algae all over and in the seams.....they're the pits!!!

I’m really struggling to get a decent finish in my car, tried all waxes and ceramic coatings but just not good. I’m petrified in even attempting to MOP the car for fear of damage and the paint is white. Can you help or do a video on basics of machine polish.

Yes it is! It's the only one in the UK in this colour and spec. The roof was a £2000 option, and I've never seen another one in the 2 years I've owned it!

@@danielfl.9347 Well it was an ex demo and fitted at the dealer to show off the roof so they might sell more but we never had the weather for it to justify the cost! Very popular over the water though.

When I clean my S5 convertible I always start by vacuuming the roof - it takes a lot of the dust and bits off before I start the washing. Am I wasting my time?
Next question is about the all purpose cleaner - are you talking about the sort of stuff I would dilute in a bucket and use to mop the kitchen floor?
