I am glad that I find your video, I tried Gutemberg around 2 months ago and it was a pain in the butt, today I tried again for 2 hours and I was checking all the options and playing with css (I like to create my own genesis child theme) and I must admit that I achieve great results, especially with the reusable blocks.
Your tips are a great help that I learned today, especially the navigator (I was having troubles to click on groups of blocks)...

I agree : Gutenberg is in the process of becoming a mighty fine editor.

Awesome video as always! I found it out that lots of hate on the reviews are coming from the missing format from Classic Editor. Which is the reason why I've added those formats on EditorsKit( wordpress.org/plugins/block-options/ ) and when users found out about this plugin, they find it easier to use Gutenberg. True story 🥂

Hi, i started to develop my own blocks ins Gutenberg blocks. And it's so anoying... "_experimental_" is erverywhere... in the core version of Gutenberg. And i am not able to attach a new class to a existing custom block because it destroys every existing block... i think you now what i'm talking about.
I opened my mind for gutenberg...i really tried to be fair.... but the gutenberg editor is not ready for the core. The project has a status of 50%. I also think that Gutenberg should be a replacement for alle that pagebuilders....

What caused the problem with attaching a CSS class to a block? Have you resolved this? It's been 10 months since you comment.

@@romtekch4958 the problem was that it was not possible to add a class like ".col-md-6" to a Block, because of that prefix from gutenberg. I don't know it that is now possible. I stopped using gutenberg, the developing team is driving the wrong way.... sad but true....
i also talked abotut that in github...they add new features instead of resolving bug... lol and they don't see it as bug.

So, what's the new update now? Just use a great theme and it's enough? Let me get this straight - I'm brand new to this whole thing. so, I need a theme - and then I can use gutenburg to build blog posts?

Yep, that’s correct. Find a theme you like, see what it says about Gutenberg features, and start from there. Look at some of the themes Ive shown on the channel like Blocksy, Neve, Astra, and GeneratePress.

@@WPMinute do you have any suggestions for themes that would have sophisticated sidebar builders such as the ones used by Tim Ferriss and Seth godin on their sites? Currently using Kadence

The extra work involved making it look nice on the backend is not worth the hassle. I make my own themes (maybe I'll use a super stripped back theme as a base) so downloading someone else's theme to get that styling for me is a huge no-no. That's why I like WordPress, it gets out of my way. Sure you can download some themes and page builders if you are a non-techie, but as a techie, I want a CMS that gets out of my way and lets me code. I don't want someone elses opinionated code to work off before I've even started.
Every WordPress developer worth their salt that I know never used the classic editor that much anyway. They use Advanced custom fields. Usually flexible content, but any flavour of ACF really. Gutenburg is almost trying to replace that, and I don't know why, because ACF is 10x more powerful and easy to use.
I just completed a project using Gutenberg (also using the Gutenberg version of ACF) instead of pure ACF, so I'm not afraid to try things and move with the times. After a full project on it though, it's still a bit crap. My main issues with it:
    - it's heavy and overkill in the backend. Too much going on
    - it's hard to style the backend nicely. I don't want to build two websites, the one the client sees when editing and the one the front end users see....
    - so then I could just build it all as blocks then with self-contained CSS etc? What's that a stylesheet for *every* block? That's madness. Way to slow the site down and make a horrible front end.
Overall, even with a couple of years (or however long it's been now) to digest, I still think Gutenberg is a convoluted step backwards for WordPress. I don't want to build my WordPress site like I'm building some react application thanks very much. I want complete control over the front end so I can make a fast website that doesn't fly in the face of all web standards.
Phew. I just had to get that out there and this video arrived in front of me as I'm wading through some Gutenberg madness. Sorry for the rant PluginTut!

I don't get why you don't think that Gutenberg is a page builder. It's not a *site* builder but is a *page* builder.

Becasue back in September 2019 when this video was recorded it wasn’t anywhere near where it is today.
