Just finished the rough draft of the Prompto script :) That's only the first step, though. Next is to play some more and make sure I didn't miss anything too important, then get a ton of footage, then edit it all together.
He's very rewarded for doing so, it's just hard because of how explosive a lot of enemy attack animations are in terms of surprise speed. Most of the time I get hit in XV, just in general, it's because I finally decided to stop guarding and that's the exact moment I get surprise-jumped.
i kinda wish that changing characters would give you their battle themes from their respective DLCs like when the Afro Sword would change the music. only outside boss fights though
Kaywynn Jones I just wish the sword throw was a better move. Gladio is all about the power:speed ratio for his attacks, and anything that's really slow immediately becomes not worth it because you could hit the dude with faster attacks and be better off. It's not bad for knocking some lighter enemies over though.
I really like how Gladio fights, out of the bros, exluding Noctis, he has my favorite combat system. I wish they had somehow kept the system from his DLC where enemies glow red when using unblockable attacks. As far as I know, there's no way of telling what you can block. Do you know whether its consistent with phaseable/unphaseable attacks with Noctis? Also one very annoying thing that was also present in his DLC how his dodge and block are tied to the same button. This works well for Noct, because he never tries to phase attacks that are unphaseable, he just gets hit. However, Gladio can fail at blocking, and blocking takes priority over dodging when it comes to your inputs, so you can't dodge at the last second because the game thinks you're trying to block. I wish that they'll switch that around with a patch or something so that dodging takes priority if you're holding in a direction, although that might make perfect blocking harder to do which would be bad...
Asetoni FFXV I don't remember if I used the clip but when I eas getting footage, I had a streak of like 4 perfect blocks where I was actually just trying to dodge roll stuff lol. I haven't tried to see if double tapping makes it any easier to roll over blocking but I doubt it. Would be nice though. I haven't done a lot of testing for what Gladio can and can't block. The character swap text guide someone made on the sub reddit claims that Gladio can't block attacks that Noctis would have to parry, but based purely on fighting a ton of garulas and a couple iron giants that doesn't seem to be the case? I stuck to the rule of thumb that Gladio blocking had phase rules, but the damn iron giants never used the AoE ground slam when I was fighting them so I didn't get to check.
RekiWylls I don't think it has anything to do with parryable attacks either. I haven't had the time to play much since the update, but I did fight a Kujata as him and couldn't block anything. I mean, it makes sense obviously, but you can only parry their charge and the massive ground stomp attack as Noctis.
There was an update in December 2017 that let you swap to the bros in the main game. It's in-combat only, though. There are abilities in the ascension menu you have to unlock to use them.
I'm glad! Hopefully I can get the Prompto and Ignis videos up sooner rather than later, but school is kicking into high gear and I was already busy. Check out Asetoni FFXV for another channel that does XV videos like this in the meantime though.
Mako Is Not Gay Yup! Impervious is an innate skill for Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis (Ignis even gets a counter mechanic built into it). I thought about making an overall bros tutorial that explained things like this but figured I'd save that for the XV Combat 101 video I want to make, which is probably just going to turn into a Noctis episode for the Character Guide at this point.
No, actually. All the footage for this video was done on a level 1 playthrough I had started not long ago, and I certainly didn't have enough AP to get Impervious. I had to buy some AP with the Timed Quest rewards just to get the character swap nodes.
Mako Is Not Gay Glad you enjoy them, they're fun, though time-consuming, to make! Will try to have Prompto's done in the near future, I anticipate his video to be shorter than Gladio's.
victor calalang I probably could have set it for 4/5 to be honest. Gladio does a metric shit ton of damage when he has full rage, but I decided against 5/5 because when he doesn't have full rage it's only average-to-good damage.
This is a great explanation please make more!

Nice guide, this deserves more views!
Might switch to Gladio more often just to learn the perfect block timings since he's more focused on that type of gameplay than Noct.

My tech bar for gladiolus never goes past 2 bars. How do I use maelstrom and dual weild
Ronin VII I say it in the video, but you need to have completed Episode Gladio or else Tempest will be the strongest skill you can use.
Didn't even knew about the charged attack. Thanks man
No problem! I'm just hoping I didn't miss anything crucial that some comment's going to reveal to me.
i kinda wish that changing characters would give you their battle themes from their respective DLCs like when the Afro Sword would change the music. only outside boss fights though
he can throw a sword long range
Kyro NiX Yup, that's in the moveset. Hold the stick away from a target and tap (not hold) the attack button
RekiWylls gladio is my unrealistic goals.
Kyro NiX Speaking as a martial artist, all you gotta do is do a little bit of work every day :P
It took the longest for me to know how to throw the sword

I forgot to sub you, so I'm late in the party!!!
Really good vídeo!!!
I'm for sure adding this to the char swap tutorial from reddit :D
Earthshatter is mainly just for ap farming weaker enemies that you’d simply kill before getting razor cut.
I did the dlc but I dont have maelstrom
That's odd. You have the Genji Blade in the main game?

How can ya control Gladio in the main game? I thought it was just on the DLC

@@RekiWylls Ah alright alright, thank you for letting me know!
Wow. Need more of this. And need more views too.
EXG Thanks! I'll be starting work on Prompto next, hope to have it out...pronto :P
Nice vid, helped alot

Did you just use impervious with gladio ???

I see, thanks for the guides. They are very informative (looking forward to the other two characters)
