I loved Dover White in my dungeon of a dining room! However, I’m not sure I’m personally equipped to accept a paint color for more than 6 months haha. Thank you for everything you do! 💜
I watched this video 4 times before I picked Worldly Grey for the walls paired with dover white upper cabinets and smoky blue lower cabinets. It looks amazing, thank you so much Kylie.
Hi Carolyn - I am buying a house with a ton of Dover White trim that I can't afford to repaint. My go to paint color has been Worldly Gray for years. Are you still liking the Dover White/ Worldly color combination? This would be a whole house color for me in all lights. Thanks!
I always look forward to watching her color analysis. I have a deep interest in white color variants and I get more information here compared to discussing with people in the store.
Dover White turned out to be a big mistake for me, and I've been living with it for over 18 years! I also have Antique White in part of the house. Moderate White in a hallway. It's a nightmare. The worst part is that I actually did this with assistance from designers! We need a whole house makeover, but I'm too old and ill to endure the stress.
I've been your superfan of yours for a very long time and this is my favorite kind of video. Thank you for the education. I love learning about undertones and lrv.
HELP Kylie, I'm so LOST!!! I just had custom shaker inset kitchen cabinets installed in my 1929 Spanish house. The Kitchen Cabinets were painted in BM Swiss Coffee color, but Kelly Moore paint. I have bought so many cans of paint from SW Dover White, SW Alabaster, SW White Duck, SW Elder White, SW Accessible Beige and Marshmallow White. I like warm and want a contrast on the walls from the cabinets.
Yay! You’re really doing a lot of light SW colors that I was curious about 🤗 Can you do Shoji White, White Heron and Downy if you haven’t already? And possibly Urbane Bronze and Black Fox?? ❤️
Ha! As I was watching this I was saying "Ancient Marble,Ancient Marble". That's what I have on the walls with Dover trim, doors & cabinets. I also have Sedate Gray on a couple of walls however it sometimes casts blue which I don't like even though Sedate Gray is predominantly green undertone. Also,I'm working on changing all fixtures to brass/gold...it really pops and looks elegant with the Dover White/Ancient Marble.
The previous owners used dover white in one of the bedrooms that has natural wood trim and I'm patching some imperfections, and I'm going to stick with the dover white. We have different colors in different bedrooms and don't want everything the same.
Loved this video because it made me feel better with a previous decision to use complimentary undertones, and it can work. Also, loved the G.I. Joe Reference. #Childofthe80s.
Parents paid some painters to paint my new house as a house warming gift. We all agreed on Agreeable Gray for the everywhere but they didn’t tell me they told to painters to paint the bathrooms Dover White. I freakin hate it. It looks so yellow. Even more so with incandescent light.
When I painted my house 12 years ago, I ordered BM White Dove for trim bit the painters picked this up instead. After 10 years, it's looking more yellowish😢
Hi Kylie! Can you share the color of the wall behind you in this video? Will that go with Dover White trim/doors/cabinets/fireplace? Trying to go lighter than RH cappuccino (currently on walls). Thank you!
I'm so glad I found this, so very helpful! We have Dover White for our trim and struggling to pick a wall color. The issue is that we really wanted a lighter color (this is for a basement) and thought that SW White Heron might work? When sampling it on the wall, it definitely brought some green undertones out of the white heron. Is this a big no-no to you? Thank you!
Oh Stevie, Dover White is a TOUGH ONE. Have you considered paint your walls...Dover White? This way it would stay consistent and you don't need to worry about those undertones flashing up? Otherwise you may need to find a cream paint colour or somethign with more depth/body in the greige range...
Can you do a video on just nuetral clean whites that might go with a range of colors? that arent so tricky? is there such a thing? we are thinnking of painting the cabinets white but i have no idea what wall colors i will want to end up with yet. I do lean towards warmer colors. Thank you!
I'm buying a home with tons of Dover White trim that I can't afford to repaint. Thinking of painting walls Worldly Gray or Gossamer Veil. You mentioned Wordly might be a bit light, but Gossamer would be even lighter - I just don't want too dark of a paint for a whole house color. Would either of those paint colors pair well with Dover White?
Thank you, Kylie. I have Dover White trim and doors, and I am looking for a light warm color for my walls. I'm north facing mostly and need to brighten up my home. I'm tempted by Benjamin Moore's Gentle Cream (aka Barely Beige), which I think goes very well with Dover White.
I chose Greek villa as the fireplace, Dover White on the walls surrounding it and Extra White for the trim. Looks great. I would get Greek villa if I were you for your walls. It is lighter than dover white
I'm a HUUUUGE fan of White Dove as it still has a softness to it. Or, for a bit MORE warmth, SW Alabaster. However, they really have to suit yoiur countertop and backsplash, that's the MOST important part!
Love your videos! I used canvas tan with Dover white in our south facing kitchen and master bedroom & it’s beautiful! Wished I could post a pic I think you would agree :-)
Oh no! Well, I'd love to help, even if it's through my simple Standard Consult - I can get you pointed in the right direction for your home and its specific needs! www.kylieminteriors.ca/hire-kylie/#packages
You would be great if you stuck to the yes colors and skip the negatives. I found you confusing. I wanted to know what trim color to use with Dover white. Just cover what looks great with Dover White.
Hi Myra! Part of learning what works is seeing what doesn't work! Many of the colors are ones that my clients have wanted to use with their Dover White trim, and it's important to see the difference between good, bad, and ugly!
Hi Kylie, What about when your walls are all dover white? You didn't address this in your video. What is the best SW white as the trim if all my walls are dover white? Extra white, high reflective or pure white?
Good point! So, if you have Dover White walls, I would favour SW High Reflective White as it's simple and clean, but i ALSO like BM Chantilly Lace which is sometimes just a weeee bit softer :).
@@KylieMInteriorsPaint Thank you Kylie. You are very good at what you do. Unfortunately the painter couldn't wait so I took a chance. I chose Extra White which is a little less in lrv than High Reflective White. It looks nice and there is no blue undertone from the lighting in the Extra White, which I feared. There was no way I was going to make the monster of a fireplace Extra White as well because then the yellow undertone of Dover White would show in such a large contrast. As a trim it is minimal. So I chose Greek Villa instead for the fireplace. It is a warm white like Dover but less yellow undertone. It looks so beautiful. I tell ya after watching so many of your videos and reading your blog posts I learned alot! Thank you! Wish I could post a pic here so people could see Dover White walls, Extra White trim and Greek Villa on the fireplace.
Kylie...our entire home (just purchased December 2020) has all trim and doors painted Dover White. Most of our walls are currently a shade of light yellow that we don't like. We have just hired a painter to paint all the walls throughout home in early July, and I plan to go with some shade of white throughout the house. I've sampled a lot of whites, and thought I was going to go BM white dove, but now I'm questioning my decision and wondering if I should just paint the walls Dover White too, in order to avoid potential clashing undertones? We have pine hardwood floors in all rooms but the bedrooms, and in the kitchen, the cabinets are cherry. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!
Hi Amy, I would DEFINITELY recommend this! Because Dover White is that bit more yellow/warm, it can be TOUGH with other whites, especially ones that are WHITER than it!
Dover white is actually a very classic color. It can go with many other colors or vintage style furniture. I love it.

I am stuck with Dover White everywhere in my new home. Would revere pewter work? It has green undertones?
These all kind of look the same to me lol! I’m sure it’s different in person too.
I know, whites can be SO HARD to sample!!!

is there anywhere i could see a picture of your setup with Dover white walls?
Do you think Greek villa as a trim color would work with Dover walls?
What do you think of intellectual gray with Dover white?
That could be a pretty combo! The green in Intellectual will bring out the yellow in Dover White a bit more, but still pretty.

I’m stuck with agreeable gray and I hate it, very depressing shade.
You offer so many fonts. I want the yeses. Please stop making this sooooooooo difficult. I kept waiting for a yes beige. 😮
Don’s not fonts.
