Our first shakedown with the M2 and all the new modifications was interesting... the car is FAST and i have a lot to learn. The new @girodiscracingbrakes are fantastic and give all the confidence.. now we just need the grip to match.

one thing i wanted to touch on that i didnt mention.. this was the first track day i REALLY felt the weight of the M2. Chuck is a very transfer heavy track with lots of HIGH SPEED corners.. the m2 was a boat. Very interesting

That's what many people on the Nordschleife are also saying. Even with the new M3. Many people like the old M2 and M3 a lot more because of the wheight. It's a shame this new M2 is so heavy. Btw, are you dropping tire pressures in between laps? You gotta drop them when they are hot.
I don't know the hankooks but everyone is running cup2 or nankang Ar1 over here. Maybe the rs4 can't handle the wheight.

Not gonna lie, years ago when you first started doing videos of track days I wasn't sure if I would be interested. But man I look forward to them now! After seeing you build the cars and go through the learning experience and making changes/repairs makes the viewer feel invested to see how you/the car perform on the track. It definitely has me wanting to build a track car next! That or the Legends FK8 would be perfect as well... Haha!
I like the roll cage mount shot more. Could you sync up helmet mount audio with the roll cage mount GoPro to sidestep the wind noise?

I like the roll cage view, Dut. Glad you noticed the helmet cam was too low, I was sitting up in my seat trying to get a better view, lol. Love watching your progression with the car, including all the "issues" and all the incremental changes. Then going back to the track is cool to watch.

Personally hard mount camera to the cage or headrest is the best track on track view imo. You really get a sense of what the chassis is doing
Love the outro music on this one. I have a friend who tried the Hankook RS4 tires and basically said the same thing you did. It's odd because the previous Hankook RS3 tire was SUCH an amazing tire!

Great vid - Got an M4 and 1st time tracking it was a lot of squealing too. Thought it was tires, but found i needed to work brakes later w speed into the turns. Brakes on these Ms r fantastic once figured out
Rollbar footage was a nice angle, but seeing the tachometer was kool too
I have autocrosses both the stones and RS4's and the RS4's are more of an Endurance tire compared to the RE71rs so if you are used to the Bridgestones then that loss of grip will indeed be noticeable. As far as the feel that's bound to happen when you jump from tire to tire. Keep it going. Progress looks good and hope everything is well of the track too!

M2s are heavy. Not far off from M4s. May be impacting grip capability of these tires especially with this power level.
I actually totally forgot to mention that as well. This is the first track I’ve really felt the weight

Driving so many different cars on track is difficult to manage.
FWD, RWD, AWD and all of them with high power and torque is not easy to adapt.
What i'll highlight a lot is the consistency, that's a fact, that's your experience con track being tested.
Great video, love this blog/tracks, it helps a lot to the community looking to hit the track soon

Go pro is over exposed because it's trying to compensate for the dark interior. Set the exposure compensation in the negatives for that roll cage shot and it should fix it. Youll just need to find where in the negatives works best.

Continue to make me like the G87 more and more.. I always wonder about GoPro angles tho, obviously more cameras at once will be “better” but I think the head mount is the best for POV driving.
Personally, I think it was mounted too low on your new helmet but still an overall nice view of the cockpit
Track riding is so fun.
Quick Idea for you and your channel is creating a time lap board in the shop! With the different tracks and comparing the different cars.

Dustin like you said you are driving the car like an FWD car. I know in the past that you tracked a few of of your other cars like the GT-R33, Evo and GT-R, maybe b/c this is a dedicated high powered RWD car with an I6, that this is the reason it's like your kind of having to re learn some stuff? Yes you had the S2K but The F20 is light compared to the BMW's I6 and the I6 makes a bit more power too. Good vid, glad to see you on the track, when I see the look and expression your eyes, and I hear the tone of your voice, we can see and hear the passion you have for this, we know you're not pretending that you truly do love to race.

You definitely need to fit a JQWerks/Madtrace wheel for racing.
Love the roll cage angle better than the helment and would say just take the audio from the helmet to avoid the wind noise

Dustin get the boss boss racing visor mount. Personally it’s one of the best angles
Camera view is the best from right side of the helmet in line with eyes.

I think the helmet position will work if you use Superview. To me that gives the best POV as you pick up more of what’s going on in the cabin. But loved the video regardless!
Numbness is sort of the "Endurance 200tw feels", especially on a big car. I just tried the AD09 endurance 200tw and it's pretty similar to the RS4 in feel too.
DUT you should try Nanking AR/CR1s until the RE71s are back in stock … would be a sick tire for you to test

Always set your camera to -1.0 exposure when mounting in the car. Otherwise the GoPro tries to brighten the interior making it look like you are driving in heaven outside.
RS4s were / kinda still are the go to tires for M3 track days. Like you said. Not the fastest tire but lots of life and super consistent but still with grip. I think your self reflection is right. You’re chucking too hard into corners. Driving like a fwd drive car. You need to brake deeper / harder, set the turn / weight, and add smooth throttle. You’ll get it.

BMW is the Ultimate driving machine! Do you think its really that is true after owning your M2, moding it and tracking i? With owning only JDM sports cars and coming from a Skyline GTR like yourself. How you you compare the M2 to our JDM cars? I have been loving the BMW M2 content so far, keep it up. My dream is to get myself a M240i in the next few years once I finish my R32 GTR build on my channel. 🔥

I actually prefer the roll cage cam because you can see how the car is moving on the suspension and stuff. It’s less dynamic than the helmet cam but I’m a driving nerd so
In car cam isnt bad, dont mind the overexposure. Prefer this angle to be honest because you can see driver input with the actual track better

does the g87 m2 have auto rev matching or do you have to rev match yourself every time you downshift??

Perhaps you can use the Falken Tires to go quicker. See if you can exchange it.

The car looks good, but the shifts seem a little delayed. Have you considered a Trans tune? HXP? Also, do you plan on stripping down the car, or will this still be a daily?

RS4s are really numb in my experience. Obviously it depends on the car and setup but when I found them to work was when I drove it heavy on its nose.
