Hey Mark, this is how wet/dry/wet started in the 80s with the rack gear! The studio is what got us all so super excited about wet/dry/wet in the first place. So cheers bro, you aren’t alone.
And for the record, I’ve built this into my UAFX pedalboard, because why not 😎. I have a mini mixer summing the parallel golden, starlight and ox stomp. 4 channels so, wet/dry/dry/wet summed to stereo from the mini mixer. And all of the uafx amp pedals in 4CM mode feeding the ox stomp split off to the wet path. I don’t even care if it’s practical!
Absolutely loved the playing. Love what you do! Thanks for the review!

Now after watching this I’m considering running my wet path to the ox stomp and my dry to my ox box or visa versa. Amp-less over here. 😮

That intro with your kiddo was the best. I can relate to having little toddler fingers touch my strings, flip switches, and turn knobs at this season in my life too. I love their curiosity.
Also, what cocktail were you drinking in the "What are we doing today?" and following 2 sections? Looks like a Manhattan or something yummy.

I love how wet/dry/wet is so different from the days it was created. Nowadays wet/dry/wet is referred to as any signal path that uses wet effects in left and right and a dry signal center, but real or traditional wet/dry/wet requires a line output of your power amp into a parallel mixer with your wet effects running in parallel to each other 100% wet then into a power amp to a cabinet for both L/R channels. I prefer the new age term, but some old school builders get touchy with the terminology when they see people setting up a new age wet/dry/wet and still calling it wet/dry/wet. Vertex Effects is one of those people that gets offended with the terminology. Lol.

“I’m sorry, you clicked on the video”…LMAO!! not practical for me or affordable but that’s not the point for me. Your style of presentation is so informative and detailed that I’ve watched your vids even if i wan’t using the gear being presented. Great stuff. Some of your presentations have actually saved me money by convincing me that didn’t need that certain piece that i was convinced I just had to have. So thanks for your work and hope you have as much fun making these vids as i do watching them. ❤

Hey Mark, I just tried this out. It sounds amazing for clean tones. But my channels for delay and reverb had to be In mono, because when I put them in stereo they used both 1 and 2 inputs from the Apollo Twin, and I would not be able to use both reverb and delay. HOWEVER...I tried the ua Galaxy and the ua starlight in stereo, and they sounded amazing this way ❤. Probably because the ua pedals have two separate engines for stereo and are subtly different. Other stereo effects pedals by other companies did not sound as good as I thought they would compared to the ua pedals. Cheers 🍻 great video and congratulations on your 👶

I have been kicking the W/D/W with one tube amp idea around for a while. I need to get an ADAT I think to have enough inputs. But I mean, lots of guitar players have a tube amp and some sort of stereo device and/or an interface. By device I mean HX Stomp or other Multi FX. There should be some way to make it more practical. I dont have an OX either. I am sure I will figure something out eventually, lol.

That’s a lot of what these studio tips videos are for; not so much every day live use but ways to level up your home productions, writing, demos or full releases. I still play live a bit but the vast majority of my time in music is spent in the studio so that’s most of where my advocacy goes these days.

Totally. It’s *technically* three stereo pairs but it’s really just four inputs and the spdif input. Like I said in the video I ended up buying a new interface to accommodate this idea. Practical? Ehhhhh. Cool? Definitely.

@@markjohnstonofficial If I was going to make a live rig, I’d solve that problem on a small mixer in my setup, then just have outs going to the house. Though, at least where I am, that would be a big waste since most clubs run their PA systems in mono.
