Have you ever considered filming/uploading these at 60 fps? Some of the shots, especially in this video, are so beautiful and it makes me want to see more of the in-between.
This is just awesome. An empty island, no humans, so much to explore. I could spend days on an island like this and not be bored for one second. Thanks for the adventure Norm.
Me too.. I have never wanted to leave my home of nearly 50 years.. until now. People moving in next we have never had neighbors... IAM in da mountains.. away from City Life.. peace full.. or at least it was.. an my girlfriend.. I think I messed up so big time.. an it's probably to late.. God I just want to get away.. Heck go live there I want away from everyone.. just totally alone
I'm an Overhead Powerlines Patroller in England, so it was funny to me to see you go down a disused path on a mostly abandoned island to see a High Voltage switch pole, almost just like me on an average day 😂 You have to go back to this amazing island!!
You know I can't really see the spiderwebs from the monitor so whenever Norm clears out the webs all I see is him waving his stick like a magic wand like he's about to say wingardium leviosa hahaaa
Brilliant video (as ever). I'm a conflict archaeologist and I've been fascinated by these abandoned island batteries for a while, so I was very excited to see the barrack rooms in the thumbnail. I doubt I'll ever be able to make it out to them in person, so exploring them with you was a real treat. Keep up the good work!
This is why I want to retire in Japan. It's got so much packed into it. Thanks Norm for showing us the beauty we can look forward to if we ever get to visit.
@33:13 my favorite moment when I am in nature is just taking a moment to stop, close my eyes, and take deep breathes while listening to the birds chirp and the leaves rustle around me. Nature is the absolute best medicine! Thank you for the stream, Norm! What an adventure!
This island is really interesting, old defensive locations are, most of the time, interesting. Also what I always like in nature, is the sound of running water (plus points when it drops a bit). That view at 34:02 looks like a waterpainting. Beautiful. That water up close is amazing, lovely blue.
Awesome livestream as always Norm. This was an amazing and epic adventure. Those stairs around the 40 min mark even watching on a screen it looked like you were going down even though you’re going up. Thanks for letting us ride along with you on your adventures.
I was told to leave something so....... something. I love little villages like this. I feel like you can find the 'heart' of the people a lot easier than in a big city, and find more meaningful memories. History was strewn across that island with untold stories left to be discovered. I am sure all the secrets were beyond those pylons.
This was something to behold...As someone who has just recently moved from living in Ehime for 9 years to Nagano, I am so homesick for the ocean, remote little islands and mountain towns. This was so cool to see. I didn't manage to get to many of the islands that had limited ferrys, mainly made it to the ones that you could get too off of the bridges. The ammount of history packed into the area that nobody really knows about or talks about, be the forienger or locals, is really cool. I hope I can eventually move back to the area and check stuff like this as well as all the little mountain hamlets that have fallen off the map in recent years. Thank you for taking us along!
Fort Warden State Park, Washington, is one of my favorite places to visit. It looks a lot like this place. Lots of trails and bunkers. I've lost count of the times I've turned down a trail just to see where it went, and ended up somewhere beautiful. Thank you for this trip!
That was a lot of fun. One of your best efforts maybe, though there are so many good ones, maybe finding a "best" is pointless. I was so anxious about your making the boat that I was seriously disappointed not to be able to see you get aboard. Tell us the truth. Did you have to spend the night with the boars? You asked for our explorations. The one that came immediately to mind was tracing the Pony Express route across Utah and Nevada with my young son back in the early 90s. Off-roading in the desert miles from civilization. Beautiful and exciting. Had a flat, but didn't run out of gas. Boy and I both loved it, of course. Thank you for your work.
Wonderful! I loved the contrast of hiking into the mountains with the spectacular view of the ocean. The buildings were also fascinating. Thanks again.
love these videos, I watch them while I work and love the exploration and your thoughts and funny moments. I hope these series keep coming in the future!
There was SO much more to this island than I had expected. Loved seeing all the different ruins and listening to you experiencing things for the first time. What a cool spot. I hope you can bring us back again someday!!
Norm, this walk you took us on was gorgeous. Just the exact sort of place I like to go find, and the perfect time of year to go see it. Thank you for taking us with you!
He has two channels too! Oh ,and he's doing a "1 million seconds" trip to celebrate getting 1M followers, so there'll be a lot more of these videos in the near future :D
You honestly found the most amazing place - but the true hero of this journey was definitely the stick. ;) What a great travel companion for you. But I also loved seeing the heron, such a wonderful encounter. ♥
Amazing video. I don’t get to travel much and I should definitely do more trekking. With videos like this, I feel like I can take a moment and refocus from a crazy day. Thank you!
This was amazing!! Please do more! :D You should totally go back and explore more when not on a time limit, would love to see the abandoned village here too~
Fun walk, good history, and a plethora of spider webs. Every hike! My best hike is probably the Silver Falls trails in Oregon, USA. Ten waterfalls, and so much green. Just out of the way enough that it's not crowded, too!
1:07:11 Look at those water currents, when I was there in the area last summer, I was half amazed and terrified that I can see such strong currents just a couple of meters off the shore. it's also quite impressive how the ferry captains maneuver their boats quite nimbly in often tight spaces between islands
It would be so easy to get lost on that island for days. So many trails and paths. What a truly amazing place. So much to explore and experience. I would love to experience it first hand.
What a lovely hidden gem! Thanks for taking us all on this trip with you, Norm. I'm really enjoying watching, as I know lots of other people are too. 😁👍
This is probably one of my favorite videos of yours just cause it really felt like watching someone go on an adventure. There were so many things to see! I also thought you'd just find some abandoned village on there but you found more interesting and awesome areas. I'm so glad you went up all of those stairs cause it was interesting to see where they lead to although I am also curious about the paths you didn't take (but since they don't seem safe, I guess I'd never know what's on them). I love how it all ended up on a path near the sea and you have to walk at the edge of the island cause we saw so much greens and the end has a lot of beautiful blues on there with the sky as well. I also chuckled when you found another short set of stairs when you were about to end the video cause you have to check it out which I bet made a video a few more minutes longer than it should've been. Would've liked the ending to be you seeing the boat but you had to hurry there. Hope there would end up being more surprising videos like this someday!
To answer your question. I didn't explore that much. But one of my favourite places ever, was a marble quarry on the island of Iona in Scotland, it's also been abandoned around a century ago. Iona is about the same size as this place and has a lot to offer too.
Dammit Norm, I had stuff I wanted to do this morning, but this looks incredible potentially one of your most interesting videos yet. Ah well coffee and Tokyo Lens Explore it is...
Neat. All the spiders would freak me out. But the views were amazing and I gotta look up more on the history. TY always for sharing. I always find your videos soothing and relaxing.
Don’t forget to give that like bottom some love! This is going to be a fun one~
I love my like bottom
I can't wait to see to which island you went!
@@bonsai-effect lol smack that like bottom!

Yes yes yes!
Yes! I want to go!
Be so cool

I could feel your excitement, the lack of research can sometimes yield great content as we get to be surprised right along side you. 10/10!!
I could explore that island for days. Thanks for taking us along.

Some say that he is still trying to catch the boat and roams the island till this day.
Why didn’t he finish it? So frustrating. Maybe read some maps that are clearly there. Anywhere in the world this would be a day trip national park.
Norm, I love your adventures and your explorer's spirit so much. You keep me endlessly entertained. Keep up the great work.
Sorry i missed your stream, but got my first washer and dryer... never has laundry been so entertaining.
Thank you for taking us with you onto this awesome Island!

Loved the combination of nice views and bits of history during this walk!
I was so nervous about you missing the boat! And then you didnt show us ! Lol!
He did miss the boat. Rumor has it that he is still stuck on the island to this day...
I wish I could be there with you. This kind of stuff was my dream when I was stationed there.
Those views are breathtaking man please go back!
Great video, thank you for doing it .

YES! Southern California desert 🏜 is excitedly waiting! 🎉🎉❤❤
Cool little adventure! You have to love when a whim turns out to be such a good find.
Wow what an absolutely majestic experience. 8/10 stairs but 10/10 view, which naturally helps the stairs up to 10/10. A true stair-prophet, you are.
That scenery next to the water! LOVE IT!
That was a amazing walk! Thank you Norm for sharing it.
It would be so easy to get lost on that island for days. So many trails and paths.

It's wonderful to see the old batteries and what's left of the supporting structures.

Amazing. There were some great sights to see. Thanks for sharing norm!
Thanks for this Norm.... a little remnant of the past with spectacular views...
That is awesome. Maybe you can go back one day and explore longer. Such a nice little oasis. ❤
Incredible looking island. Thanks for sharing and safe travels!

thank you so much for this trip and walk-about, Norm. Love your videos.
Would love to see a overnight stay video from this island, way more time to explore and see what's there.

'Got to make the boat ooh steps!' Thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us. (I hope you made the boat.)
Daisetsuzan national Park was probably the coolest place I've been to. I want to go back and hike all the way across it.
Reminds me of my home town when I was younger and fishing with my dad.
My favorite place that I've explored is Yosemite National Park with my mom and grandmother.
Just discovered your channel today and watched three of your amazing adventures already. Thanks for sharing 🥝🇳🇿

Ohhh this sounds super exciting!
All this time I'm thinking, "there's no way he's making that boat!"
The way you brandished that stick made me suddenly feel like I was in a first person action adventure rpg haha
Love this spot! Definitely need to do a camping trip! 😃💝
Great video thank you 👍 very interesting History. I enjoyed it very much 👍❤️❤️
