I'm glad the chonkies are working out (mostly) well. I tried Ashes of Sun after you mentioned it in your vlog and had similar feelings so gave up on it. The narrator made it sound even more like a children's book, which didn't help. It'll be interesting to hear what you make of The Poppy War. I'm surprised the Stranger Times books are more than 500 pages - they seem to fly by. I've probably mentioned most of my chonkies before, but I just finished God of the Woods (496 pages so it almost counts), which I really liked. It's a slow burn mystery with a lot of focus on the characters.
496 totally counts! I've heard great things about God of the Woods. It has my attention and you mentioning it is character based makes me want to pick it up even more. I agree that the narrator of Ashes of the Sun didn't do it any favors. It felt very young while I was listening to it. Immersion reading helped, but I still just couldn't connect with the characters.
Yay for chonky books! I have read three of these, and have three more on my TBR. I'm doing a bit better reading chonky books, but of course they're not the ones I orignally planned to read. The trials of being a mood reader 😆
I knew Kings of the Wyld would work for you! I feel like I’d like to reread that one again sometime. Maybe before reading the sequel. I already know I’m going to love Malice. You’ve had great success with your chonky books 📚
I hope that it hits more for you upon reread. I think you said that you enjoyed it the first time, but it didn't absolutely wow you. I look forward to hearing what you think of Malice. It is a lot, but I really liked it and I know you will as well. Chonky books for the win!! 🥳
FIFTEEN BOOKS! Love it! You continue to inspire me with these chonky reads. Night Film and The Charming Man (but first Stranger Times) is on my list, as you know!
I liked Fourth Wing, but Iron Flame wasn't as good, and I remember hating the ending. 😂 I think I may have slapped it. Violet gets on my nerves, as a chronic pain person, she is wonky. I need to read Butcher's Codex A. I loved his other series. Im older and all of Dresden's "gazing" issues are eyeball rolling, but no biggie. Night Film looks like it would be shorter. Weird! Im gonna miss you, but I wish you great reading 📚 PS, I think we both like chonky books because we have more time to get to know the characters. Loved Lies of Locke Lamora. Oh Locke 😂
100% agree about Iron Flame. The ending made me so mad! I also am not the biggest fan of Violet. I do think you will enjoy Codex Alera, Lynn. The Dresden Files are on my list to get to one day. I'll miss you as well Lynn! Have fun on your trip! I do think that a chonky read allows for us to get attached to the characters and really get invested in what is happening with them.
👑I am currently reading Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff which is EXTREMELY chunky (600 pages). I have got Night Film on my Amazon wish list, I have seen it on a lot of channels so I am intrigued.
@@Danni.Dabbles lol, you're fine. Way back when, as an anime girlie... I would get mad at Inuyasha and a lot of shonnen series for that exact reason XD "ugh, can we get past this weird romance and go back to adventuring???" and i was kind of alone in that thought most of the time If ever you feel like a negative Nancy, know that i'm there with you and i'm probably 15% more salty LOL
I DNFed Iron Flame. I completely lost interest in the second half and i noticed i kept zoning out and miss whole chapters, so i took that as a sign i should just quit.
I definitely agree that 500+ pages equal a chonky book!
I have some chonky books on my shelves that I really need to get to. 😅
They are worth the time, but I do struggle sometimes to pick them up. 🤣

🥳Hey as long as you are loving what you are reading it works! At least you never are lacking for potential books to pick up.
I knew Kings of the Wyld would work for you! I feel like I’d like to reread that one again sometime. Maybe before reading the sequel. I already know I’m going to love Malice. You’ve had great success with your chonky books 📚
I want to re read Kings of the Wyld before reading Bloody Rose. 😊

So glad you finished darker shade of magic! I will eventually- book two just wasn’t working for me!
No worries! We can chat when you get around to it. No need to push through something you aren't enjoying.

Woohoo!! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on both of those reads!
Our Share of Night has been on my radar for a while. Hoping to read it eventually but there’s so many other books …. 😊💙
It wasn't my favorite, but I would be interested to hear what you think when you get to it. Too many books too little time. 😊

Ooo! I haven't read Illuminae, but I've heard that it is good and with a mixed media flare! I hope you are enjoying it. Night Film was a lot of fun!
@@Danni.Dabbles I finished Illuminae Friday afternoon, it was really good, I will be getting the second book in the series soon.
I need to get back into my chunky books, I can't remember the last one I read 😅
You got to read what you're in the mood for. I wonder if there are any chunky cozy reads out there.
I'm going to pretend I didn't hear you talk bad about Iron Flame 🤣🤣
We will just forget this happened. 🤣
There's been several books where i think: this would be a great adventure story if we got rid of all this forced romance LOL
so i get it ^_^
Thanks Rachel! I feel bad when I get to a book with a romance I just don't want. 🤣 Makes me feel like a negative Nancy.

I totally get that. It was a bit of a slog and I just didn't care about so much of the book. Why waste time reading a book you aren't enjoying?
