Lisa Jewell is my favorite thriller author. Please read more of her books 😊 My faves of hers are Then She Was Gone and The Night She Disappeared. She’s a fantastic writer I always get so attached to her characters and end up feeling so bad for them that I have to remind myself that it’s fiction 😅

Girl, I have become such a thriller snob. So true about the saturated market. Recently, I had a surprise hit with Who is Maud Dixon? I really enjoyed that one, but I don't really trust my own opinion with thrillers anymore. Love hearing yours.

Read Blake Crouch. His other thrillers are pretty good(excluding Dark Matter and Excursion). Also, Gregg Hurwitz is solid. His stand-alone books especially

I'm Thinking Of Ending Things by Ian Reid. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld. Someone else commented already, which I agree, Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. The Woman In The Window by A.J. Finn .

I actually give The Guest List the credit for getting me back into reading as an adult; I read very sporadically after college but that book was so well written that it made me fall in love with reading for fun again

I have a book to suggest! After watching I'm Thinking of Ending Things on Netflix, I knew I had to find the book the film was based on. Even though I am a die-hard Charlie Kaufman fan, to me, the book was much better (sorry Charlie). Tighter; whilst still being able to evoke this highly ethereal and, at times, dreadful tone.
That led me to pursue the other Iain Reid books which ultimately led me to Foe (Which so happens to be an Amazon movie released in 2023 - with the amazing Saoirse Ronan). Upon completion of Foe I found the novel a unique thriller that is a more approachable read. And, in saying that, even with various cues in the chapters leading up the climax, I did not call the ending.
If you ask me, I believe the novel is superior to Thinking/Ending Things. And I truly think you would enjoy it.

A recent thriller I read that I loved was Voices in the Snow by Darcy Coates. It kind of reminded me of a mixture of The Mist, The Day After Tomorrow, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and The Walking Dead. I love all of these movies and TV show so the book was right up my alley. I know there are 4 books total in the series and I'm excited to read the rest!

My favorite thriller is All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker. It's a psychological thriller and was one of the first thrillers I read. The last thriller I enjoyed was Don't Wake Up by Liz Lawler. It was her debut novel and it was really good for that!

One of my recent reads was Blacktop Wasteland by S.A. Cosby.. omg so good! like a Tarantino movie. Though one critique is an overuse of similies and metaphors.. now it is set in Virginia US so I understand that is a bit of their southern culture but it was A LOT.. at least 1-4 per page 😅 would still recommemd though! 4⭐

I've read a lot of good stuff by Harlan Coben, but one of the thrillers that really stuck with me through years is "Projection" by Keith Ablow. Very short but so impactful. Also Simon Beckett's "The Chemistry of Death" and related books are great! Recommended. Recent disappointment "Birnam Wood" by Eleanor Catton. It was a nightmare for me to finish.

From Lisa Jewell, I've read The Family Upstairs (didn't care for it), Then She Was Gone (don't remember any of it) then picked up The Girls in the Garden in a grocery store on a whim (liked it!). I just got None of This is True as my free BOTY pick from Book of the Month so hopefully I like that one! Only heard one reviewer didn't like it but most everyone does.. doesn't guarantee I'll like it lol but I'm excited to read it and see for myself!

Anda since you like slow burn thrillers, I highly recommend the psychological thriller How Can I Help You by Laura Sims. 🔥 it's an obsessive cat n mouse game between two library workers set in a library, and there are references to Shirley Jackson. I won't say more than that, really it's a book you should go into blind.. do not read the synopsis or inside flap... they kinda spoil something in it. Everyone I know who has read this has absolutely loved it - me included. One of my faves from last year.

Have you read Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister? It’s a time loop murder mystery/thriller and very well executed in my opinion. I saw a few minor things coming but the bigger twists were a pleasant surprise. Please check it out! And thanks for your recommendations! ❤
