I picked up Black Mouth on Libby audiobook just to listen to a horror read for Halloween at work today and I really like it. I am now finding out this guy is really good and popular so I'll definitely have to continue to read his stuff! Thanks for this ranking so it helps narrow down some other books I'd like to check out!
Because of you, I read my first RM book, The Night Parade, and loved it. The only other one I read is Little Girls. He has a way of expressing the emotions of children that is so authentic (adults, too). Thanks for more recommendations! Vivian
Hi Anda I just want to say I enjoy your videos so much (you're one of the only book tubers I like tbh) your videos are so entertaining but calm at the same time, i love it! I've actually been busy the past 2 weeks tho so I'm happy to catch up on videos
I love Ronald Malfi. He is a great writer. I have a few books by him but need to buy Come with me and still need to read Small town horror. I have that book.
I was at my local mall this weekend because I went out to dinner with friends and decided to browse Barnes & Noble. Picked up my first Ronald Malfi book! Can't wait to read it (Come with Me). I was hoping they had Small Town Horror but I'm really excited.
OMG The Night Parade is one of my fave books ever. So good!! I just finished his newest one as well (Small Town Horror) and really enjoyed it. I agree with what you said in your intro about why you like him as a writer!!👍👍
Nice! The Night Parade is now on my list as I only read Bone White when it came out and didn’t read more Malfi until Snow, and now Small Town Horror. The Night Parade will have to be next. He is so damn good 🩶
My favorite book of his is hands down December Park. It's actually one of my favorite books of all time. It's been a long time since I finished it but I still keep thinking about it very often. Here's my ranking of his novels that I've read so far: 1. December Park 2. Come With Me 3. Black Mouth 4. Bone White 5. They Lurk 6. The Ascent I have a copy of Ghostwritten, The Night Parade, and I've ordered Small Town Horror as well. Cannot wait to read all of his books!
Thanks to this video I am adding lots to my TBR! Avid reader with a non-reader husband here as well... they are lucky they have other good qualities or they'd be out!.:D
If Stephen King didn’t exist Malfi would be my favorite writer. Do yourself a favor and read December Park. That was the first Malfi novel I read and it’s by far my favorite of his. 1. December Park 2. Bone White 3. Ghost written 4. Black Mouth 5. Come with ME 6. Floating Staircase
I just listened to Come With Me a few weeks ago and was impressed. It does a good job of conveying how lost grief can mske you. I have copues of ghost written snf they lurk because i really enjoy shorter stories.
This video sent me on a Ronald Malfi binge. I've just read Small Town Horror and Come With Me. I got them both on Audible and now I want physical copies, I loved them so much. Currently reading Bone White. I'm deciding if I want to spend my last credit on Black Mouth or December Park. I downloaded all of his free stuff. I think he might be a new favorite author.
I have read small town horror, black mouth and come with me. Black mouth is also my favourite 😄 Also I would really recommend a book called We Used to Live Here. It’s not Ronald malfi but I needed to mention it because I think you would like it. The cover and synopsis make it seems like a thriller but it’s not, it is complete horror! I actually felt scared while reading it. From page 1 it is filled with dread and malice and tension. My hairs were standing on end, the descriptions of scenes are so vivid. It’s truly brilliant story telling and writing and I honestly think a lot of horror lovers will like it. It started as a Reddit NoSleep story and is being turned into a Netflix movie!
The only book is his I’ve read is Come With Me and I absolutely loved it! I listened to it as an audiobook and it was fantastic. I really need to pick up Black Mouth but somehow always get distracted and forget about it!
Black Mouth and Come With Me are also my favorite Malfi books I've read so far. Ghost Written and Bone White were solid, but definitely not favorites for me. I also read and enjoyed The Narrows, I would recommend this if you want a different take on vampires. I own a copy of Night Parade and Little Girls, but I haven't read either of these yet. I would also like to pick up a copy of his newest book at some point, but I already have too many books on my shelf that I haven't gotten to.
I have only read two things from him and at first I was put off. I read his short story The House on Cottage Lane and did not like it. I gave a 2 star rating. However, recently I decided to pick up his novella Mr. Cables and gave it 4 stars! I loved it and I am really excited to pick up one of his full length novels!
Snow by Ronald Malfi is off the rails. It’s kinda all over the place but like, in a good way? It’s short but i recommend it if you want something fun, short and sweet. It doesn’t take itself too seriously but when it does it’s very gripping.
I read Black Mouth based off of your recommendation and it was soooooo good. Small Town Horror felt disjointed and I didn’t care about any of the characters but I still enjoyed the writing. I think I’ll read December Park or The Night Parade from him next
Also wanted to say that my husband was a reader and I wasn’t for the first 6 years of our relationship but this year I’ve read over 50 books! Maybe your husband will come around someday 😂
Your synopsis of Small Town Horror makes it sound a lot like Black Mouth (which I read recently as a direct result of your previous recommendation for which much thanks!)
I've only read two of Malfi's stuff, but my favorite is Come With Me and the other (which is very good) is Floating Staircase. HIs supernatural stuff is a little too explainable, warm and fuzzy and human centered for me, but I would rather read him than Stephen King (although King is capable of a good novel every now and then). One of my favorite scenes in Come With Me is the abandoned building with the dolls. "Gas head will make you dead" I believe it is. Creepy.
Omg I went back to the part about divorce lol I've been with my husband 8 yrs and we lived in Chicago a while and I kept trying to get him to read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher lol he finally listened to the first book 3 yrs ago, loved it, and was upset he didn't read them when we lived in Chicago because the books are based there 🙄😆
Would love to read Ronald Malfi books but sadly they are not really translated to german :( - also - what is up with your husband? How couldnt you convince him after all those years to read! Anda, step up your game please! :D
Yes, completely agree, Black Mouth was such a fantastic read. It was one of two 5 stars for me last year. The characters had so much depth, and it was the first book that ever made me truly care about a character who’s an addict. Because of life experiences, I have little to no sympathy for addicts, and books that make a person’s addiction front and center always turn me off. But this one just hit different, and the whole book was just amazing.
Yes, they can be paranormal. But they usually walk the line between paranormal and reality to where I think you could argue the paranormal aspects aren't actually taking place. For example, in Black Mouth, the character is an alcoholic attempting to quit drinking on his own. This leads me to question if the paranormal elements are actually occurring or if he is hallucinating.
Given your husband's preference for playing with rocks can we now assume that your dual project to read the Lord Of The Rings trilogy is now dead in the water?

Don’t know why (outside of this channel) I’ve never heard of him before, but I really liked your other recommendations. Definitely will check him out
I've only read Black Mouth, and I really enjoyed it. Bone White and Small Town Horror are sat on my book shelves waiting to be read.

Have not read Ronald Malfi yet! Looking forward to it. Which one should I start with?

Black Mouth and Come With Me were excellent. Malfi is a top horror writer.

Hi Anda! I'm currently reading The Fossil by Joshua T. Calvert, but I have Malfi's Small Town Horror waiting in the wings.
They never listen 🙄😂
Black Mouth feels like Malfi’s spin on “It” to me. Curious if anyone feels similarly, not trying to knock the wind out of anyone’s sails who loved it.
Make a video on "Best books on Dracula or vampires novel ". Please 🥺
Would love to read Ronald Malfi books but sadly they are not really translated to german :( - also - what is up with your husband? How couldnt you convince him after all those years to read! Anda, step up your game please! :D
I just bought his novel "Snow." I have yet to start it.
Bone White reminded me a lil bit of the true story of Keith Reinhard. [From ur descrip.]
Some of his older books I really enjoyed are Snow, Borealis, and especially, The Narrrows. I did not like Floating Staircase.

I’ve heard it has some really gruesome dog cruelty so I will never be able to read it..
@@lisapoe888I genuinely don’t recall any cruelty to dogs in the book, but I could be wrong.
just saying, parahumans (worm) is the best superhero shit out there, if u want that shit, its really good(only online version tho)
You forgot about They Lurk
OF is agape waiting for you
Couples therapy.
Question: does this author write paranormal stories? Because I love creepy stories that play within the rules of normal life.
Yes, they can be paranormal. But they usually walk the line between paranormal and reality to where I think you could argue the paranormal aspects aren't actually taking place. For example, in Black Mouth, the character is an alcoholic attempting to quit drinking on his own.
