And the saddest thing about Delta's career is the crap she copped in the media with tall poppy syndrome in Australia. Copped more than any bloke of similar talent.
Agreed, I think so many women were intimidated by how stunning she was too, they just tore her down over minuscule things for no reason other then tall poppy syndrome
Info on Delta. She released this song when she was 15/16. She become a huge star. She suffered leukemia a few years later. She had to have surgery a few years ago and lost the ability to speak. She had to learn to talk and sing again. Listen to “Paralyzed” to hear the story of that. She’s incredible.
Delta has tried so hard over the years to break into the worldwide market but for some reason they won't give her a fair go. That's good for us here in Australia though. We have loved her for the past 20 years and will love her for as long as she lets us. She is a National Treasure... The rest of the world is truly missing out.
I’ve never heard her pitch or break. She’s got an incredible voice. Another Aussie underrated. She is of the calibre of Dion and Streisand in terms of vocal strength, control and range.
We love Delta… at just 18 years of age she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and became a cancer survivor, in 2018 she had surgery to remove a salivary gland, which left her with paralysis to her tongue and she had to learn how to speak again. She is an inspirational human with singer / songwriter talent in epic proportions - she is an Aussie Icon!
Delta is affectionately known as Australia's pop princess. She has battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 18yrs old and is an enormous inspiration to all. Such a beautiful person inside and out.
You should check out didgeridoo players mate. The skill needed to play them is crazy, breathing and exhaling at the same time. And Delta, what can you say. Awesome 👏
That thing at the start is called a Didgeridoo. It’s a musical instrument used by the indigenous people from Australia. If you get time look up William Barton on RUclips, he’s fantastic!!
Oooh.. looking at the comments..we all Down Under are letting you KNOW about the digeridoo, lol. It’s all good.. you’re here to learn.. and so are we, mate… Love Delta! You’re a great part of my day that I look forward to after work.. cheers :)
She wrote and released this song when she was about 16 and acting on a TV show here called Neighbours. Such a deep song for such a young person. SHe certainly is a powerhouse. Reminds me a lot of Celine Dion. I believe she's actually written some songs for Celine too...
As you say, her voice is so clean, so pure and so effortless. The simplicity of being able to transition her vocal range with such ease and such control….. Oh, and I just love your expressions. You crack me up.
First time listening to the didgeridoo can be a bit off-putting, but once you hear it a few times, man it is a beautiful sound. Delta is magnificent, period.
She actually debuted the song while she was playing Nina on Neighbours, she was like 15. Just a couple of years into her career, she was diagnosed with cancer. She went through operations and chemo, she lost her hair, but she fought back and is a survivor! She is truely Australia’s sweetheart!
We do love our Delta here in Aus and for very good reason. She brings a tear to the eye with this song. This was a slightly more fancy version that the original one but that's just fine. Go Delta!
To be Culturally Sensitive only Men are traditionally allowed to play The Didgeridoo. I remember hearing an incredibly talented Aboriginal Little Boy playing the Didgeridoo He was Amazing. His Dad had taught Him and He was playing it on the street. That was at Kuranda a small Village in the Rainforest just outside Cairns. Tourists flock there to their Markets and Butterfly 🦋 House etc. It was School Holidays and He made Himself quite a bit of Money that day. There's a Scenic Railway with Old Fashioned Carriages and Skyrail with it's Cable Cars. That travels between Cairns and Kuranda.
Naw you took your hat off! Little baby Delta penned that song as a teen and won every award there was to win with it. I would assume Delta requested the didgeridoo player in respect to the place and people where she is at, on Benelong point, aka Sydney The Opera House. To feel truly supported one must stand on the shoulders of the ancestors
We'll have to start calling you an honorary Aussie lol 😁 That was a didgeridoo in the beginning of the video. If you're going to be an Aussie you should familiarise yourself with Aboriginal music. Delta's voice has just gotten better over the years 😍
I love hearing you react to Delta's music. She is a national treasure. She is an amazing vocalist, musician and an inspiration and one of the most beautiful people on the planet! She has a vision of her mission which is to make this world a better and more positive place and she never waivers. Truly amazing!!
She also had nerve damage following surgery last year and lost her ability to control her tongue. She had to learn to talk again and had daily speech therapy lessons.
Delta's often referred to as Australia's Celine Dion. She also writes her own music and is an accomplished musician. By the way we Aussies love the Digeridoo. It's an indigenous instrument that goes back thousands of years and has a haunting, beautiful sound. Maybe you need to hear it played in a different context. Giant toilet roll, lol! You crack me up.
@@PrincessNarz Wait …. that wasn’t fun, it was just very interesting and informative. Here’s an actual fun fact - The bare nosed wombat shits cubes. Of the videos I've watched that you've posted, I've not seen you speechless until now, Sir. So glad you're enjoying our awesome Aussie performers. Like so many of them, our Delta is a national treasure. 💝🇦🇺❤️
Great reaction, there is a video of Stan Walker and Delter singing together and yes her voice is pure and beautiful. One of my favorite female singers.
Delta and this song got me through some tough times. I love that you love her too, your reaction was priceless! Thanks and merry xmas to you and your loved ones
I had no idea Delta could sing (not sure if anyone else did), but I was watching Neighbours the night they had her character Nina just sit down at the piano and knock out Born To Try as her character. Amazing.
Love Delta, she writes all her own music too. 💕💕 Karise Eden is another great Aussie female artist. (Particularly as you enjoy a growly voice). She won the Voice Australia in 2012 and is still only 29.
Delta released that song in 2003 when she was 18. It was part of her first album which became the second highest selling album in Australian history after Fever by Kylie Minogue.
Mate you have only just skimmed the tip of the ice berg. I feel for you Americans missing out on Delta's voice. This normally does not have a didgeridoo but this was for a special. She is the most amazing person. She was diagnosed with cancer at 18 and yet stayed in the Queen Street Mall for 8 hours to sign autographs and take photos with fans. She's also recently had surgery which left her tongue paralyzed (there's a song by the same name which you MUST listen to) Delta is truly incredible 💗
She has the best voice in Australia in my opinion. She really is oue Celine Dion. Success wise, if Australia was the US, she'd have sold millions of albums.
She was also a very good actress before she took up singing full-time, she still act's from time to time and has not lost the touch as an actress . 🇦🇺🎄Merry Christmas🎄🇦🇺
She’s sings a duet with an indigenous singer (now passed into Dreamtime) called Gurumall. The song is called Bayini and they sang it live at a The Voice finale. You should listen. She’s a very spiritual singer.
That didj is our instrument for all means of our Aboriginal culture and she sung with Uncle G and a culture that is over 60,000 yrs. It's the earth sound from my ancestors and nothing speaks to this then our didgeridoo and we are trying too 🖤💛❤️🙏
You need to hear the original recording she could go higher she had cancer just as her career was taking off and so young. She is a lovely soul but yes listen to her early stuff
If you liked this please have a listen to Delta’s Safe To Believe. It’s another beautiful song, and her vocals are to die for. Actually I can’t fault anything Delta sings.
Its a Didgeridoo! You blow it by using a circular breathing technique. Cut from tree limbs and hollowed out by termites then burnt. Yes Delta Goodrem Has a beautiful voice and is very talented musician and musical writer. One very strong woman who has also beat cancer.
I love Deltra, check out her other music, she doesn't disappoint. She released a song in 2020 called Paralyzed so worth a listen to, especially when you know the story of how it came about, here is short background video 6mins of her journey about this song...it will leave you with more respect for her.... ruclips.net/video/3yosCEmJiUk/видео.html
You can tell her voice is not fully recovered since the paralysing of nerves in her tongue. Her range has dropped slightly but she still is a great singer and massive range, we ❤ delta
Delta paying respect to our first nations peoples is a mark of respect to our beautiful country men and our rich indigenous culture. Delta gets it. Tina Arena Gets It. John and Jimmy gets it.
She is pretty good brah. Has some meaningful songs, a great pianist, professional voice and great tone. I don't give much respect to our female artist but Aussies are stacked with talent. We are built different and always comes as a underdog.
It's a joy watching you get so excited by talented vocalists and well-crafted music. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned the instrument you were hearing at the start of the song. It's called a didgeridoo. It's an indigenous Australian instrument made from a hollowed-out eucalyptus tree branch that works using ingenious bilabial and guttural vibrations, working together simultaneously. The wood is treated with fire and decorated with iconography specific to the region of the tribe. The player vibrates their lips into the tube and is able to make an astonishing array of sounds and tones, cries and squarks and shrieks, all while maintaining that haunting multi-tone vibration. A method of replenishing air supply called "circular breathing" is used so that even while the player continues to make sound with existing air, they are able to take in more air into their lungs through their nose so that the sounds emanating from the didgeridoo never pause. They are, as you can imagine, extremely difficult to play.
The original australians would select a long straight length of tree, cut it down and burn it strategically to leave a hollow. Then use it to make a plethora of sounds, mimicking the sounds around them. Breathing in a circular technique so sounds are constant and the performer doesn't pass out. Sadly most didgeridoos sold to tourists are indonesian bamboo knock-offs, made with machines.
And the saddest thing about Delta's career is the crap she copped in the media with tall poppy syndrome in Australia. Copped more than any bloke of similar talent.
We either build up big in this country or tear down hard. We’re pretty messed up 🫣
Agreed, I think so many women were intimidated by how stunning she was too, they just tore her down over minuscule things for no reason other then tall poppy syndrome
The public turned on her when she hooked up with Brian McFadden

She’s incredible.
She is an absoulute legend. Signed to Sony at 15, lymphoma at 18, and 10 seasons as a judge on The Voice Australia.
I know right! Totally had to relearn how to talk and sing - they told her she would never sing again!
You failed to mention her greatest achievement which was playing Nina Tucker on Neighbours... 🤣
I believe it was Hodgkin's lymphoma. But yes... strong lady.
Goosebumps!!!
Delta has tried so hard over the years to break into the worldwide market but for some reason they won't give her a fair go. That's good for us here in Australia though. Delta has been an inspiration to me since i was 14.
Completely agree!
It's always the way with Aussies, think about Farnsey, Barnsey and Marcia Hines
Delta is a real person
From the US here, and I've been a fan of Delta's since the first album. There are lots of undercover Delta fans here ❤️
I’ve never heard her pitch or break. She’s got an incredible voice. Another Aussie underrated. She is of the calibre of Dion and Streisand in terms of vocal strength, control and range.
