Jim Richards and Mark Skaife battled early 'technical difficulties' to take a fine 3rd place in the 1991 Nissan Mobil 500 in Wellington New Zealand. Pirro and Winkelhock in the Schnitzer BMW came first, with Brock and Perkins second.

As time passes its easy to forget just what an amazing machine the GTR was. It will be interesting to see which different manufacturers look at the Aussie supercars when turbos are reintroduced.

Only a fool could deny what an amazing car the GTR was and still is. Back when it was introduced into the ATCC it was way too competitive for what it was competing against. That was kind of the point of banning it.

"And look at that start by Michael Skaife!"
Ol' mate Clint Brown got a wee bit excited there, eh? I will always treasure the golden years of Mobil Sport with him and Louise Wallace on a Friday night recapping the week's sporting highlights.

According to Mark Skaife, they had the boost turned all the way up for the whole race - 700+Bhp - and you can see it. Car is drifting and getting oversteer out of the tighter corners.

No your wrong my friend at Bathurst skaife did 212.63 supercars in 2019 203.something so almost 10 seconds a lap slower I never used to like the gtr when I was younger I do now though I will never ever like a 4 cylinder turbo though ever 6 turbo is great the gtr was way ahead of its time in 1991 that's for sure

@@markperkins8858 put the latest tyres and Tweek the Nissans motor and other mechanicals and they would keep up with the latest stuff plus todays Supercars are more like Sports Sedans with Space Frames , light panels etc and not a factory shell to start with.
