If someone wants the song translated here it is:
Birch was growing on a rock with silver leafs. I wanted to pull one off but all of them fell off with a great sound. Who covered you in a foliage like that?
The mist, the mist
Morning dew, morning dew
Spring rain... rain
Birch your bushy branches reaches the ground. Sister your jewelry sweps the dirt wile you are walking.
I walked through birch groves and broke no branch if I did then now would walk in silver
Thank You.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!!
Thank you!!!!
For the old letons, the name "Tautumeitas" was given to young women at the age of marriage, but today represents all the women dressed in national attire.
The music of Tautumeitas is created by six voices and six pairs of hands belonging to Latvian girls, who believe that music makes the world better.
The group's main interest is the traditional corner, especially the multi-part corner. The particular voice resonance created by this traditional Latvian chant provides fun not only for the public, but also for the artists themselves. In order to picture traditional music from its own perspective and show how the modern day "Tautumeita " thinks and feels, each of the members incorporates different instruments in this traditional vocal music a capella. Most of the band's members studied ethnomusicology, which is why there are many traditional musical influences from different parts of the world.
Timbral variety, fresh ideas and eclectic musical taste merge to give the Tautumeitas a unique sound.
Wow!
sam seiya It is amazing and so beautiful. I love it, as I love the Baltic states and culture.
The truth is, they will become the answers of your questions , they know it, dance it , swirl it...you did not ask the proper question
Thanks you for the info :)
They have made my world better , the music lifts my soul thank you Tautumeitas , and thank you CYBER 666 for this insight
This band is one of the many great reasons why I love journeying through the depths of RUclips❤✌
Praise be to the algorithm. It sometimes takes us strange places.

Pagan blood boils inside me. Greetings for Latvian sisters from Lithuanian brother!
@o O lmao calm down. How could you know his life ? Don't judge when you know nothing please.
@o O i'm Latvian. and we do not kneel before God like Christians and Muslims do. we stand proud when talking or praying to our creator. and we don't need church ether. because we hold God in ourselves. mēs esam Dievturi.
@o O is right. I mean that's cool if you are all into Pagan faith and Baltic folklore. But "pagan blood" isn't a thing, you can't just be pagan because you're Latvian...
@touchnotthiscat Baltics are true lats European Pagans. more people celebrate summer solstice rather than Christmas. facts. i'm not quite sure what i stand for. but it aint no crucified jew for sure. i have shivers trough my body since childhood when i see a book of Bible. my soul don't like it. so i have never read it.
You are right. My religion is friendship and even though I have friends that are Christian and Pagans(Few of them)I still don't have my religion. I just want to support culture that has strong history, because in my opinion it is thing that we must know. Have a nice day! Be friendly!
I don't understand a word but I am in love
Same they are very Neat & on Fleek
Me too!!! They are fantastic!!!
I love when you find videos down a rabbit hole like this.

I understand Latgalian a little bit.
These fairies are doing a terrible job pretending to be human! Love this music!
Apparently, they live in the Blue Mountain.
@Yello So, video is not filmed at Blue Mountain? But then, where else might Latvian fairies dwell?
@Yello Heaven knows, that Latvia is where I mean to move when I have the funds to become an expatriate.
@Yello As long as the Latvian language survives...and you ARE short of men thanks to war and Communism. Might as well have someone who is trying to learn about your history and culture, and wants to see The Triumph of Love.
I went from "sounds quite nice..." to "that's beautiful" to "wonderful actually" to "wow this is goddamn epic"
@UCWdD8UUXRNhgXjazXJ4JxxA wow thanks!!

Es esmu no Lietuva un macos Latviešu. Un man ir ļoti skaista valoda. Es runāju nedaudz bet es ceru mācīties vairāk. Sorry for the mistakes 😄 Greetings from your sister Lithuania!
That's awesome masina 🌼❤
Is Lithuanian close to Latgallian? It seems to me to have similarities.

@@Lijaskurzeme Sveiki! As a latgalian, we find lots of similarities with lithuanian in speech but not as much in writing, sometimes its possible to fully understand what lithuanians are saying
And its really awesome that you want to learn latgalian! Do you need any help with that?
@@baibakukare413 Thank you for replying 😀How fascinating. I did a bit of 'research ' 🙂
A dictionary would be great, but do they even exist?
@@Lijaskurzeme do you mean a latgalian-lithuanian or latvian-lithuanian?because the last one is easier to get😁
Im not even sure a latgalian-lithuanian dictionary exists🤔

Or an English-Latgalian.
I may be out of luck here, but I don't want to give up 😀
It would be a big pleasure if you tried to participate in Eurovision! Greetings from Poland, you're magical! ❤
Sadly it would seem that eurovision has become less about European culture etc & more about the whole multiculture cult. Wasn't the last one held in the middle east? But ut would be great if there was a truly European festival dedicated to European folk & cultural music & traditions. I can imagine the Poles would be a wonderful part of such an endeavour.
@@colinm2056 In the middle east 🤔? You must be thinking about some other festival, not the Eurovision song contest. But it has also become less about culture, and more about politics and neighbours voting for each other (including the juries), no matter the song. So countries like Latvia, who have less "friends" among other countries, have little hope in this contest even with a good song.
no need to poison them with that plauge called eurovission .
@@murderouskitten2577 Why?
I really want to learn the Latvian language because of this band. There is something magical about them. And the language is so beautiful. I don't know where to start, but I want to learn this language.
Gorgeous Baltic language.
Same thought here from Canada. And also I vow to always respect women no matter what. Because only and only female voice can cure my stress and help me move forward.
"Paldies" is the first word you need to learn in Latvian. It is the literal translation of the word "Thank You", and you can use it in front of anyone in Latvia. It is the most common and one of the most important words.
I am learning as well. Good luck on your journey 💙
this is way too underrated
Greetings from Ukraine! I'm firstly heard Latvian folk music. It is racy!

Excelent ! From Lisbon Portugal just love you beautiful work.
Wow!!! This is Awesome!!!! Love and Gratitude from Greece!!!
I found common origin words with slavic languages from the lyrics:
Lat. - Rus. - Eng.
Bērziņš - Berёza - Birch
Akmens - Kamen' - Stone
Es - Ja (Az in proto-slavic) - I(me). Word change process in slavic languages was AZ - JAZ - JA.
Raût - Rvat' - To tear out, to pull
Viss - Ves' - All(whole)
Tev - Tebe - To you
Zaļš - Zelenyj - Green
Migla - Mgla - Haze(mist)
Rasa - Rosa - Dew
lietus - Lit' - To rain(to pour)
Zeme - Zemlja - Earth
Būt - Byt' - To be
There are much more cognate words but all rest of them changed their meanings.
both are Eastern Indo-Europeans
Hittite language is very similar to Latvian too.
Though the phonetic pronounciation and emphasis on words is really different. Good catch though!
@@jeffondrement160 they belong to the same family, balto-slavic.

Finding this group is going to make 2020 an awesome year!!
O principal interesse do grupo é o canto tradicional, especialmente o canto multipartes.
