Having a problem with my 2016 Polaris 850 tour, hard to shift and seems not to come out of gear, this bearing you mention seems to be binding some how, such is float freely. Mike S.
First are you talking about the electric one? You put a E in there and I do not know what that is or a typo. If you mean New XP 1000 Ranger, yes actually a good bit of primary clutch issues
I have a 2018 Sportsman XP 1000 and I have problem almost like that. Ok let start by saying form band new with the OEM belt I didn't notice a problem but I put a Gates Carbon C12 belt on and had to take out one washer to stop the secondary form turning but it was long time later that I noticed that it I let it roll back some it will not shift so I to remember not to roll back or I will have to give it some gas then hold the brake and then it shifts fine. I have gone through again and made it better be it still has the same problem. I'm going through again when I do my full go throw at 1000 miles and most likely going have to make custom shims.
Great vid! Thx. My 2010 550 ticking at idle and run, hand turning primary clutch back /forth, a slack is there, is possible the damper nut loose? (primary clutch is quiet and function well)
2014 ranger xp900.. should the one way bearing in the video be easy to spin with fingers? Should it make any noise when you do? I was plowing snow and all the sudden my belt got really tight and I couldn't shift gears. Parked it in the garage, took off the secondary and checked that bearing but not sure if it's bad or not. I can spin it counter clockwise for a bit then it hits a stop. I can spin it maybe 1/4" clockwise before I can't anymore. Is it bad? Do I have to get a whole new primary or is that bearing replaceable?
I have a 2008 rzr 800. Hard to shift when running. Tries leaving without brake applied. I can hear the belt squeel at idle im sure its the primary. The odd part is it will start to what seems like backfire and run terribly, fhen when you let off the throttle it slows down like brakes are dragging. Could this be caused by the primary failing as well or another issue?
? I have a club car carryall 1700 dls se 4x4 it runs same cluth as a polaris it will go drive forward well but when I start to slow down then speed up again It asks like I'm in netural motor revs the car will not go faster if I come to a complete stop it will grab and go to top speed no problems
2002 sportsman 500 aftermarket primary, ebs style & ebs secondary oem. Oem belt. Secondary moves at idle. Ebs 1 way bearing turns with resistance in 1 direction like it should but like i said more resistance than usual. Can this cause belt creep? Even letting the secondary float on the shaft still the belt moved the clutch. Center to center is spec. Any ideas? Junk bearing on that aftermarket clutch?
My 1997 Polaris 600 Xc Triple makes a grinding noise/ shaking feeling underneath track / gas tank what could that be ? Almost feels like it’s not engaging right away either it’s takes a bit to hit

I have a 2019 sportsman 570 Utlity with EBS, silent chain broke inside gear case, I replaced it and now bike seems to run weak in high gear. I have a clutch kit and 29.5 tires, but low gear still pulls good. High gear bike won’t run over 27 and seems to bog down?
I am having a jerky ride on a 2014 Rzr 1000 I already changed secondary clutch and still having that jerky ride after I pass 15 mps, do you think it’s my primary clutch also I don’t think it has never been changed, it’s hitting over 4k miles
Great info! My question is about the centrifugal clutch inside the motor. The engine is making a knocking type noise during idle but never while revved up. Is it possible the that the centrifugal clutch pads are in there bouncing around until the speed gets up fast enough to completely engage them. I took the primary clutch completely off so that I could isolate the problem, so hopefully you may know. Thanks alot!
@@Hunterworks It is the 2006 Hawkeye 300. It has a centrifugal clutch behind the one way bearing assembly. The shaft that the primary is bolted to is driven by this clutch.
Any ideas/tricks to get a stuck clutch off? We’ve tried packing the hole with grease etc. it’s not at the end of the threads on the clutch puller but it quits turning and clutch isn’t popping off. The end of the clutch tool that goes into the hole gets messed up too. Any help or ideas would be appreciated
Trying to diagnose an issue on my 17’ General deluxe. Would this cause the motor to rev out at about 45mph? Feels like it is also staying engaged when I let off the throttle. Blew 2 belts this weekend. The second one only lasting me about 4miles.

I hear things like “polaris clutch guru” and just have to ask. I’ve been trouble shooting an 06 switchback 600 for a while. Looking at clutches now. It starts and runs great, but has no power , and hits 6000 rpm like a rev limit. Won’t go higher. Haven’t had the chance to check much yet, I know the rollers are all in decent shape, and that there were no visible cracks or pitting on primary . Any thoughts?
You should have heard maybe clutch guru on polaris UTV from 2008 and forward, I do not even know what a switchback is. However the "like" a rev limiter is the key, is it or is not. I would not know the rev limiter on whatever that is, but you need to know that, if say it is 8000 and goes to 6000 then most likely not clutch if it is 6000 and your hitting it too soon then yes most likely clutch and most likely in the primary.
