I remember when I started skating, it would ONLY be at night at this basketball court cause I used to get nervous in the day. And when I skated with someone for the first time at night, he couldn't do anything cause it was "too dark" so I basically got night vision now, lol
I kinda prefer skating alone because I can just focus on myself but I also like skating with friends because if the skatepark is busy, I get so self conscious like I’m getting in peoples way, and if my friend is there I’m like less embarrassed ig 😂
Skating alone can be sketchy sometimes though folks, I went out skating alone one time and somehow found my way back to my friends with a concussion, don’t remember where I was, how long I was unconscious (if I was), how I fell. Glad they were close by though and I didn’t end up worse off. So just be safe out there homies 💙

I do it all the time. I thought it was normal but I've had a few skater friends ask who Im skating with and when I say myself they act shocked or comment something like "oh so you ain't going with anyone?". But I've landed my first heelflip skating for an hour in the evenings for a few nights by myself.
I barely skate with anyone, ( I have no friends that skate ),so I decided to put in my airpods and play my favorite music, and I just blew threw my progression. I go kickflips more consistent, almost landed my first treflip and backside flip. Before, I barely had kickflips and I would get bored easily.
Same my first week i would get unmotivated and bored. Id also get self conscious cus i live in a small town so barely good spots to skate where there isnt like 60 cars passing through every 5-10 mins. But ever since i just put my music on i can now do an ollie consistently, frontside 180s more consistent but not perfect yet, and occasionally land a few pop shuvits.

Just ordered my first board. I'm currently in a small town college 1700 miles away from home bored with classes and gaming. I'm fundamentally someone who prefers to be alone or with a very select group of people. I find skating alone therapeutic, necessary, but sometimes having just 1 or 2 buddies that really care about your progress and stoking you on, is also so important.
Skating alone actually makes filming a lot easier for me! I look at skating solo as “time to work”, and skating with friends as “time to have some fun”. With that being said it’s all fun. Just different types.
When he talked about recommending tricks ima recommend to all of u no comply 180 I got these on lock and now they’re my favorite trick I love them and if u haven’t learned em learn em and if u have learned them get consistent with it

One thing that helps when i skate alone is to think of it like the gym. For consistency, think reps and doing the same trick over and over for x amount of time or tricks. then a new trick, pr (personal record) or in this case, a new trick. And like he said a quote on quote "New trick" doesn't have to be a different trick just the same trick on something else (5-0 on a ledge, 5-0 on the bump to flat bar) same as how 280 on the legpress is different than 280 for squating

Either my friends dont skate, or they live far away so i just cruises the same path on my longboard. I do pass skateboarders but theyre always carrying the board since i guess they can handle the hills. I do like getting compliments and stares while passing people tho, honestly a good feeling👌🏽
Listening to music while skating an empty lot near a main road helps me hone in on what I’m trying to accomplish and keeps my brain from getting distracted by verbal stunting drivers, pedestrians and the nagging mentality thoughts that surface that I don’t want to think about. I’m usually pretty good at brushing off unnecessary toxic garbage that comes my way, but listening to music definitely adds extra padding and hype to a session.
IMO learning new stuff is cool with friends, getting tricks on lock/constantly is for the end and beginning of the session, skating alone is for cruising and doing the tricks that you have on lock
I wish I could go skate but where I live there is COVID cases every day and I would rather wait a long time until I get to skate then dying and not get skate anymore Also one more tip don’t be scared off gettting becuase that was one of my problems but when I don’t care about getting hurt anymore I progressed way faster
