This same issue comes with most basic Korean consonants: ㅂ - intervocalic ("추부") "b" like in "bag", opening a word or next to a consonant ("바다") "p" like in "peer" ㄷ - intervocalic ("바다") "d" like in "dawn", opening a word or next to a consonant ("다리") "t" like in "time" ㄱ - intervocalic (하고) "g" like in "gear", opening a word or next to a consonant (가사) "k" like in "Korea" ㄹ - intervocalic "r" (알아), opening a word or next to a consonant "l" (열정) This is why transliterations are meant for people who don't know the first thing of these alphabets and are not intentioned to learn them. Based on my observation living in South Korea, the Korean version of this song seems to be "dumbed down" for children under the age of 10. That's a solid reason for South Koreans to prefer the English version of this song.

It's accent. You type it as 제발 but read it as 체벌. It's like when they say 네 but you hear 데.
