Was gonna get into Elestrals with the chronodile deck. Sad to hear it's not as powerful as I hoped

It’s still a great entry point into the game! If nothing else it’s worth grabbing for the staples.

I do wish stuff like Chronodile was more playable, but I also kinda expected it wasn't. Removal is a lot stronger than protection at the moment and big investment bodies like that just can't really hang.

Can we please decide in advance to call the Drakking list "Darkest Depths"? We need better deck names

So....investing in the Chronodile/Emperowatt starter bundle to get started as a beginner is a bad investment? It's hard to tell what's worth investing in as the metagame develops... dropping 60 bones on something only to find out its hot ass feels bad, you know?
The only thing that I've consistently been able to pick up watching all of this content is...Invest in singles to build a fives deck. If it's putting up results worse than fives, it's not worth it. I really want to sink my teeth into a TCG again and I've been burned a few too many times investing in something only for it to turn out to be hot ass someone was coping on.
Am I wrong? Is it still fine to grab some starters for some staples and jump in to things? Or do I grab something competitive likes fives and just focus on that as an introductory experience?
    I just don't know 😢

Just because it can't beat the best players in the world running more competent strategies doesn't make it hot ass or not worth investing in. Every bit of investment will slowly accidentally help you build fives if you so choose considering 20-24 of the cards in every deck are exactly the same. Get the decks, get some friends together, and have fun. THAT'S what it's all about. It's a really fun game.
P.S. Chronodile/phosvocell etc. Is infinitely more fun to play than top table strategies. Sure I have all the best decks in the game but I will NEVER tear apart my phosvocell deck.

Personally, I think the starters are still worth grabbing for staples plus the included boosters. Plus the chance of pulling serialized! In my experience, the starters go a very long way towards building your collection of cards that might not be considered staples but will be needed for decks at some point.

chronodile isn't....AS good as we thought it would be yet but its still far from bad! Its still a very playable deck and the starter itself comes with a TON of highly useful staples and is the base of a water nexus deck as well. And with Moonrise on the Horizon its value will honestly go up here shortly.
